its better to have to concrete already mixed cuz if you just pour in the dry then the water, there will be a bunch of dry patches and it wont hold as well
So many comments, I have installed 3 fences in the last 3 weeks using the old method, as far as hitting power lines and such, if you hit them with anything your fried, I am wanting to try these it would make things easier, the only concern I have is if you glance off the side of a rock and your post wont level then what. The guy that said he can drill 12 posts in 30 minutes, I want you to come to western Pa and try that.
i can drill 12 holes in reasonable ground in 30 minutes and can set 12 posts in those holes in about an hour including mixing the concrete. alone! this product is for homeowners who dont know any better
the negative about this product is if you are close to any kind of power/cable/telephone lines.
i did this for a living before joining the military and there were many days the customer wanted the fence to go in a certain area no matter if there are 100 different power line marks. using a digger and carefully digging you can get your hole. this product might kill you if you use it around power lines.
Built many fences, might be okay for Joe Homeowner, but for livestock an animal like a cow would snap that post off. would work fine if there was more metal to wood contact, such as adding an additional 12 " of metal to that part and more being left out of the ground.
hmmm...lets see... the posts can be shorter - savings ~$2, it saves you about 10 min per post (probably not even that much) @ $15/hour - 2 guys = .033hours = $5.... for savings of $7 per post. Cost of the OZ bracket for a 4x4 fence post $31.... hmmmmmmmmmmm... what am i missing here?
What about the economy of scale the auger would get? Imagine that two man team is fencing an entire pasture - they'll dig multiple holes at once, only have to mix the cement once for dozens of posts, and would fatigue not half as fast as the chap with the jackhammer (so would work more efficiently for longer). In any more sizeable jobs, the Auger would leave the oz miles behind! Plus, look at the cost difference :D
Wouldn't the oz only be marginally stronger than just a very deep-dug post?
This looks like it would work fine for a mail box post but in a fence that has any livestock pressure it would tip over in less than 1 year. Plus driving in a wood post is way faster, stronger and cheeper.
If you patent that give me a royalty ok. Hey check out my video I just posted. its called master fence video. I want to write a book on building fences, would you like a chapter?
thats pretty cool. I will admit when i seen it at first, i thought what the heck..that wont hold. But its still a good idea. Did you invent it? I own a fence co. in west texas. I havent used a wood post in a long time. Metal post and 7' is popular here. i can see how one could be made for metal post. same idea. just round,let it slide up a little higher and have holes for teek screws to be put into the post.
this post doesnt hold enough characters so ill add 1 more.
First of all how much do these things cost. Second of all, using an auger is alot faster than what is shown in this video. Third of all, using wet concrete is the worst thing you can do for a wooden post. Proper tamping works MUCH better than concrete. I'll stick to the old fashioned way thanks.
Actually the man operating the jack hammer uses a level. Can you see the orangish thing that he straps on to the Oz Post? That's the level. He uses it again on the post at the end of the video.

I can beat the installation of the OZ with my one man auger.
You still need to get a Jackhammer to install these.

@Syre126

@blake983
they also don't need to mix the concrete. All you have to do is pour it in dry and pour some water on top if you want.
