midwood has great grocery prices compared to kings highway. there is a 24 hour produce store called rossman on east 17th and avenue M. they have some good prices.
My baby/childhood for the first few years were here... gosh I hated Midwood! Such a boring neighborhood, and too quiet. I made no friends because they were all strict practicing Jewish people (I'm not Jewish by the way.) I'm now in Flatlands, not too far from Midwood but vastly different.
The brotha got his facts a little mixed up, As the World Turns hasn't always taped at the studio, and the show was NEVER on NBC...it took the unfortunate cancellation of Another World, that taped there before and was on NBC, for As the World Turns to move out there from Manhattan in about 2000 or so. So chris2367811, he was there at the studio, just not close-up or on the corner that would show Ave. M. AW should still be at that studio and still on TV but oh well... Happy 45th AW!! (1964-1999)
wow..this is weak. No mention of glorious ave m or kings highway. I lived on ave m and east 18th street for 15 years. No mention of transportation what used to be the d train or nbc studio or salons along ave m etc...
I think the video is well done. It's about the neighborhood. So what if it doesn't give the history of the Jewish population living there. There is a lot of other very good information.
Wow. Do you know anything about the neighborhood?? Hasidic?? Your in the middle one of the most dense Jewish populations in the world outside of Israel...and all you can say is Hasidic?? You mentioned DIfara's but not the dozens of Kosher restaraunts?
I would say it goes from Nostrand Avenue to Ocean Parkway
There is a very large Orthodox community but very few of them in this community are Chasidic
