  • What the hell? The kids sound like they've been through puberty 11 times.

  • This just kind of makes me wish I watched the original Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor cartoon, instead of the condensed version.

  • Little do people know that spinach is slang for steroids. Popeye should be ashamed.

  • lol 'Specific Ocean' ^_^

  • Damn this shit came out before my mom was born. Actually I think popeye came out before my grandmother was born.

  • @JRock005 Yep. Classic stuff

  • @JRock005 i doubt anyone who was there when popeye came out is still alive

  • @superbreadgirl05 yeah they are still alive theyre just old

  • @JRock005 If each generation of your family lives 20-30 years max, sure.

  • @Shonbi Popeye came out long before the 1950's.

  • @JRock005 Oh, right. Forgot that this isn't the start of the show.

  • @TheMuhammadTalha Where did you hear this?

  • jesus! listen to his nephews talk. they will destroy us all! plus; pause at 2:27, yeah i know. A big man straining and squeezing a long red thing with a rounded head near his waist, how totally non-seually explicit. XD

  • this isnt the full ep

  • Is there something lucky about having 3 nephews??? Everyone has 3 nephews.

  • If it weren't for spinach, this would have turned out differently!

  • I remember his nephews always being such little shits I couldn't stand it.

  • I wonder how much in property damage he was sued for after his nephews pulled a stunt like that.

  • I loved this growing up. I still do.

  • i found the video, you have to search, Popeye the Sailor meets Sinbad the Sailor (1936)

  • @Bobbyota I actually got that on VHS. ^_^

  • @CalicoVall Me too!

  • isn't there a longer episode where popeye goes to the island with wimpy and olive oyl and then finds sinbad (bluto) also wimpy tries to make a hamburger out of a duck

  • @Bobbyota that's original fron the 30's this a famous studios remake

  • @Bobbyota yah

  • @Bobbyota Yeah it's called Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad. It's the one I had on vhs as a kid.

  • i watch popeye for the sake of laughter.

  • Not only did Popeye promote healthy eating, he also promoted cartoon violence, and thats why we love him :D

  • even his nephews have tumors

  • @schnizle101

And only 1 eye each! They're fucked up kids :D lol

  • @BOT101st --To say nothing of one being named "Poop-Eye". That's got to qualify as child abuse, right?

  • his kids are so cute

  • Actually they're his nephews, not kids.

  • 4:05 : Gomu gomu no... DRILL !

    Luffy/Popeye rules

  • 4:02 That is what I call a screw punch!

  • "Sindbad lived in an island in the Specific Ocean..." ^^

  • There's an Iphone / iPod touch app out called "The Oldies cartoon edition". It features 24 cartoons including 12 Popeye cartoons. It turns your ipod into a dvd player. Absolutely hilarious. LOL! HAHAHA

Check out my channel for more Popeye cartoons. Simply click on the link.

  • Security sure has changed...

  • 4:02 = gomu gomu no riffle

  • Oh what the HELL??? This is the SAME footage from Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor! Circam 1936...entire ripoff...Max Fleischer had a RIGHT to be mad! Fuck the bastards that would DARE be this lazy! Popeye is an international icon...not just some random cartoon for people to take for granted. He once STOOD for something! Shame on these lazy animators! This is why the Golden Age of Popeye was from 1933-1938! Curses!

  • @youthgoes , It's called a flashback episode nothing wrong with that several TV shows over the yrs did that.. "I love Lucy, Happy Days, Sanford and Son" just to name a few. so they did it for a cartoon not that big a deal. It wouldn't bother me if I had created a cartoon and later the same thing happen. it's still the same character.

  • This was one of the cartoons that Famous Studios made which used little new animation and relied on old footage from earlier ones-in this case the classic 1936 Fleischer cartoon Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor.Max Fleischer was very offended when he saw these on television in the late 1950s.

  • @RJRanke, why would Max Fleischer be offended? It's still Popeye. so they used a clip from a earlyer cartoon to tell the story to his Nephews. They do it for TV shows all the time when they have a flashback episode. they use earlier clips from a earlier episode. not that big a deal. it wouldn't bother me

  • Woirld

  • XD Those kids sound more like midgets to me lol. Well still I love the cartoon, makes me wanna get a smoke pipe and some spinach :P

  • Good animation for the 1950's. Even I thought it was really good and I watch alot of animations. I like Popeye's punches. hahh :)

  • But the stuff about SindBad was filmed in the '30s for a 20-minute cartoon.

  • Don't F**K with Popeye

  • 80th Anniversary

  • Hes the icon of a real man

  • 4:19 I WANT THAT FLAG!

  • Somewhere around 3:19 - 3:21 , there appears to be a frame or two missing. Notice how the spinach can does a weird jerk when it's rolling.

  • I have seen this cartoon a lot of times both on TV and VHS when I was a kid and it always jerked on the same frames too.

Someone goofed up back in the day when they transfer the frame by frame animation to the film

  • Kinda weird that Jack Mercer performed Popeye and Mae Questel performed Olive Oyl in BOTH versions. Their Famous Studios personalities just don't seem to fit so well with the 1936 footage.

  • 2:00 I got that episode on VHS somewhere =]

  • trivia:

    what were his nephews names?

    Answer: Peepeye, Poopeye, and Pipeye

  • You forgot Pupeye. lol

This actually came up on 'Jeopardy!' once. The contestant didn't know the answer (or question rather).

  • its amazing popeye was pirst a betty boom cartoon and then he became a huge hit

  • The 50's had some great cartoons. I think I might have some old Popeye VHS tapes.

  • i love the twister punch at 4:02

  • did u know that olive never said onesie twosie on that episode

she actually said 'Give Him the twister punch Popeye! give him the twister punch

  • yes i know that

  • Yeah, I noticed it. Kind of a weird redub, don't you think?

  • your right in the orginal B & W cartoon she did say give him the Twister punch.. not sure why they changed the words in the brief repeat as he tells his Nephews the story.

  • But it was nice seeing Popeye in his original costume in color--animated by Famous Studios. The music score is great.

  • i thought this was longer

  • it is i use too own it!!!

i think i might still have it!!!

    lol it's really funny

  • Interesting to see this 1952 animation mixed in with the flashback to some REAL animation from 1936.

  • gee uncle popeye, did you get killed? at 3:07

  • epic ending

  • 3:39 yeah i love it

  • Nice fight scene if I ever saw one

  • I don't think you are allowed to remake a statue, do you?

  • fox news says popeye sailor really hard on for bluto

    /watch?v=H7GnVJ4hcBk

  • Popeye's nephews remind me of Huey, Dewey, and Louie.

  • يوووووووه والله أيامـ يا بباي

  • Why does Popeye remind me of John McCain?

  • Good old popeye truly the greatest cartoon ever to hit the television. It's sad however that shows like Naruto, One piece, Bleach and Inyuasha are quickly taking the place of original cartoons such as this. Anime can go to hell.

  • exactley what i was thinking

  • you said it

  • Which makes you wonder why so many people like animes. I mean, what sort of name is 'Bleach'? All their clothes must be white. And their huge eyes and bad animation and backwards books. It's all very confusing.

  • Can't you like both?

  • Hahaha Soo fucking great:D

  • Look carefully from 3:19-3:22. Notice a frame or two missing like I did?

  • yeah. the can just hops.

  • Was popeye in the NAVY when he talks about being a sailor? or coast guard? or just a recreational thing

  • please dont try to think about it too much, he's just a sailor.

  • Cartoons, buddy.

  • Cheap knockoff of the 1936 classic.

    What a waste of time.

  • That's what I said when I saw this advertised on a VHS/DVD somewhere. Just get the original, it's a CLASSIC!! :) FYI, for those interested, it's in the "Related Videos". :)

  • Because it was cheaper for Famous Studios to animate THREE nephews at the time, 'nostalgia'- remember, they eventually cut them back to TWO by 1954!

  • The audio in this version is changed inthe full version the music is different and instead of yelling "give him the old one-be twosie" Olive yells "give him the twister punch"

  • 04:07-Gomu Gomu no Rifle

  • i have this exact clip on my popeye DVD its horribly edited i just finished watching the 16 minute original version

  • Thanks for this video clip of Popeye the Sailor: Big Bad Sinbad(1952) I REALLY, enjoyed watching all of Popeye's as a kid growing up in the Funky 70's & Awesome 80's

  • This cartoon was awarded the 17th place in "The 50 Greatest Cartoons: As Selected by 1,000 Animation Professionals".

  • No, it wasn't... it was "Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindband the Sailor" that got that honor. This is just a repackaging of a couple of clips from that cartoon, with the museum thing clumsily wrapped around it.

  • I'm sorry, I know I've made cartoon mistakes left and right, but it's really not my fault, as I got the supposedly official list from Wikipedia. I haven't read the book myself.

    Thanks for straightening it out!

  • no its the other one,the original,Popeye the Sailor Meets Sindbad the Sailor

  • Notice that they put Popeye in his 1930's uniform so that the footage matched.

  • Does his nephews heil in the end? :D

  • All this is is a rip-off of the Fleischers' masterpiece--typical of the 50s Famous Studios Popeye cartoons. And why the heck are there only THREE nephews???

  • They really ruined the original Fleischer classic

to make this back in the 50s, Horrible editing IMHO.
