  • Game composers were truly amazing from an early time.

  • Game composers are so underrated. These songs have stuck with me for years

  • Your people are starving my lord.

  • The Black Death, has been spreading across the county. You are screwed. Move everything valuable to the next county over.

  • A band of Moorish mercenaries is available for hire my lord

  • I realize you didn't compose this per se but I love your long fade-outs on this. Smoothly done my friend!

  • 7:20 made me cry )

  • 6:04 your army needs more archers and less peasants

  • Did 3D kill computer games? Or have I just grown out of them?

  • Destroy this castle, Sir?

  • Thanks for this video!!!

  • I think those of us who grew up with this game and others like were lucky. Loads of small companies making games like this that were unique. Today it is more main stream giants churning out games for the masses. Thanks for this - happy memories. 'the presence of your men-at-arms in our county is unacceptable'.

  • @Tommy1917 I agree with you Tommy; but there are a few good games out these days; games like the Anno series, The Civilization series, The Fable series, and The Witcher are all good :)

  • Confession: I was 12 yo and DEEPLY obsessed with this game, the only 2 times I nearly assaulted the computer techs at the store was when my cpu crashed and couldnt play this and CS beta 6 lol

  • what was that shit near the end?

  • @strangedude100 Heh. That would be the 'intermission' theme from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

    A bit jarring, I admit.

  • a band of moorish mercenaries, is ready for hire, My Lord

  • Just bought this from GoG omfg! So ready for some major nostalgia!

  • @mastacrave bought!? torrentspy

  • @arul20 It was five bucks. I prefer to buy things when i can :P

  • There will be dark days ahead...

  • I remember getting this game when I was just a kid. I think it cost about $15-20 at costco when I bought it. Really enjoyed it. This, along with Age of Empires, was one of my first strategy games. ^___^

  • @Lootraevefan haha yes gosh now I feel old

  • Good Old Games has this for sale, compatible with Windows 7 64-bit. I got it for 5 bucks. Fucking awesome.

  • Buy these goods, My Lord?

  • Slaughter these villagers?

  • 5:56 has to be one of the best computer game music tracks ever made.

  • I haven't played this game in over 10 years, but today, I awoke hearing this music in my head. So I came here looking for it. THANKS for the upload! I loved this game.

  • def a classic

i was playing this baby...warcraft 1 and 2...mechwarrior....C&C....and pretty much every classic pc game simultaneously ...no wonder where all the time went

  • I love how the music changes as you conquer more counties and piss off your rivals... :)

  • One of my beloved games, when i was a kid :-)

  • I got this game to work on windows 7, but you can get a copy that is cheap and easy to use from gog.com

  • "Your mother dresses you funny, and you smell bad." Everyone think so!!!

  • 6:00 is my favorite, God I miss staying up late playing this.

  • Buy these goods my lord?

  • One of the most atmospheric and memorable soundtracks of any video game. Ever.

  • Split this amry? Thats the example of a nice Queens English accent

  • Wow...memories played this as a kid and actually beat often, I always used an army of macemen.

  • @Diolord89 Swordmen all the way...for honor and glory!!!

  • Oh my God... Best Game Soundtrack ever... I have this game's MP3 in my Phone so I can hear them once in a while... Just sooo beautifull...

  • LOL @ intermission. Love that movie.

Man, this game takes me back... I would definitely by a "reboot" of this game.

  • Scroll 2 has alwyas been my favourite

  • I still have the CDs to both Lords I and II plus the expansion. (I also have Lords III, but we'll pretend that one never existed)

The two bonus music tracks on the Lords II expansion disc was worth the price alone!

  • "Oh yes! I would LOVE to become your ally! ^_^ ....WHO SHALL WE DESTROY FIRST? O_@"

My favourite of them all was always the Knight.

  • It is a 16-bit game, so it will not work on Windows x64 editions because they removed the 16-bit architecture. You need to run it through virtual console.

  • This game had one of the best soundtracks ever. :)

  • SAH! O'COURSE SAH!

  • @DJT3kNiK Haha i liked that one too! Rocket-powered cavalry!

  • your people are starving my lord.

  • Wish they'd remake Lords of Magic :( also music by Keith Zizza

  • my lord, yes . my lord yes, LETS GET DIGGING!

  • "My troops have entered your county on a pruely fact finding misson my friend, please don't be alarmed..."

Lost a county the first time I heard that!

  • "Slaughter these villagers, milord?" LOL.

  • Of all the games that need to be remade...this one has got to be near the top!

  • @CodeSworn I agree

  • Best game ever. If you like LOTR2 you may also like Knights of Honor.

  • Maaacmeeenn, Forward!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Your People are starving my lord

  • i wish they would make a new lords of the realm. the third one was pretty disappoiting. lords of the realm 2 is still one of my favourite computer games.

  • From 3:40 to

This is the best tune in the game. So peaceful! I usta consider this tune the theme song of one of my female D&D characters. It's got a nice girly feel to it. I dunno. Anyway, thanks for the fine vid!!

  • Love the game!!! Stil got it on my computer. If you go to classicpcgames. com there you can download it. Just set it to compatible mode win95 and 256 colors. Then you maybe we will meet online :D COME ON LADS!!!

  • a royal castle

  • @senordingdong99 a norman keep

  • God, this is EPIC. They need to make a worthy sequel to this game, LOTR3 was an abomination.

  • I LOVE this game! I wish people still played it online!

  • Its on ebay.

  • Welcome to Lord of the Realms 2. o:

  • I posted a kingdom of heaven LOTRII edit

  • Ah but alas, all good things must come to an end. Just like the feudal system.

I can't wait for 2012 when people start wearing armor and carrying axes again.

  • OMG!!! FAVORITE GAME. I USED TO PLAY THIS WHEN I WAS 10 YEARS OLD, BEST GAME EVER MADE, FLAWLESS. EVEN THOUGH ITS OLD IT IS THE BEST STRATEGY GAME COMPARED TO TODAYS BULLSHIT CREATORS ARE MAKING, WHICH IN TURN BECOMES EPIC FAIL. =( I miss games like this... I wish they just upped it a little bit and MADE multiplayer available. That would be SO amazing!

  • Man I use to play this on the Mac. But todays macs dont have it.

  • @Xionic17 The first Stronghold games, especially Stronghold Crusader, arn't too bad.

Nothing will ever compare to LOTR 2 thoguh, that's the strategy game that I cut my teeth on.

  • @Xionic17 You're not alone. I was in my 30 when I bought this game, and it's one of the best games I ever played, of not THE best.

  • @Xionic17 It is multiplayer, at least the Lords Royal Collection one was. I played it with a friend over LAN back in the day. See those shields at the top middle of the screen? The ones that disappear really fast as each CPU takes it's turn? Those stick around awhile longer when you play it over LAN. :)

  • Feed your peasants to keep them happy, and make them multiply.

  • @Xionic17 oh btw if anyone is interested...they did make this game for vista ..compatible ...you only need the original cd as a condition! just google it. some nostalgic chap made the program so we dont have to use DOsBOX

  • they should just remake this game like they did with tropico 3, if it aint broke dont fix it! just make it vista compatible and up the graphics with easier mutiplay and shit i think youve got a seller!

  • Totally agree... make the intro to modern quality, improve graphics, and leave the game the same, and the best game of all time just got better.

  • this game is a legend cuz really few games with the best graphic in this time cant even compare with this 1

  • Why did Lords of the Realm 3 have to be so much fail?

  • the one thing that made lords of the realm 2 better was that it. was more like chest. With military strategy 3d graphics are meaningless.

  • Great game, great music

  • I miss this game so much. The soundtrack was just brilliant.

  • I really do love the music and this game. I still play it a lot.

  • The music in this game is just... beautiful. One of the best game soundtracks ever.

  • man, this game is one of my favourites.

  • This song is gonna be stuck in my head forever. What a great game! They don't make em like they used to.

  • On of the best turn based strategies. I would like to see a game that combines LotR 2's gameplay with Total War battles.

  • man, that would be so awesome

  • i dont know how many countless hours i wasted to this game when i was in high school

  • "buy these goods my lord?" and not to forget one I heard quite frequently "your people are dying my lord". man I used to love sending dozens of insults in good letters to my rivals and laughing at their replies. who would have thought the Bishop would be complemented by being called a cocksucker?

  • haha i did that too

  • maybe the "scroll" filename have to do with the full name of the song? maybe something like "Scroll of fate"?

  • i love you LoTR2 freaks :D and i love this game :)

  • a pox on you all!!!

  • Please enter your name and select a shield.

  • Saving game, please wait.

  • Exit the game, my lord?

  • I'm gonna take this here mace, and WHAM! Make blood pudding from your brains. So go away.

  • I don't remember the exact quote but I remember at one point the bishop starts calling you a cheat and all kinds of stuff and it sounds like an insult at first but then he starts praising you for your character.

  • @Mast3rFr3aky Right betWEEN the eyes.

(French version of this phrase is much more pleasant, it's my message alert ^^... The guy seems proudly shouting to a mate near him, with a higher-pitched voice, that he has shot "EN PLEIN ENTRE LES DEUX YEUX !")

I've just re-installed this game, and I am lucky to have found a nearly complele french patched version... What a wonder.

  • @Mast3rFr3aky VILEEEEEE PIG!

  • @Mast3rFr3aky lol, so old school, best game ever.

  • "Oh, what can I say, greatness runs in the family."

  • @CloudIXLiobird Feed your peasants to keep them happy, and let them multiply.

  • This music made this game magical. When you won a battle 'scroll 2' would play giving a real sense of achievement and success. Very atmospheric and testament to Keith Zizza's genius as a composer for video games.

  • Bravo for this music. It took me back in the past, when i was little, and when i loved this game, so much.

    BRAVOOOOO!!!!

  • OMG thank you so much for the music...this is lords of the realms best kept secret...its music.

  • best game music ever!!!!!!!!!!

  • man this music is with out a doubt one of the greatest. its definately on my top 5 for greatest game music. hey would u be able to do a series of lords of the realm 2 gameplay? that would be awesome

  • I don't know how to thank you for posting this.

I've been looking for this piece of music for a long time.

    Great game,and great inspiring soundtrack.

    Thanks again,really!

  • Ah this brings back memories :) Fun times!

  • I dont think you can buy it new anymore and it only works on window 98 and DOS

  • I dunno. I got it working with Windows XP. My version is the one from the "Lords Royal Collection". Maybe that has something to do with it.

  • @Mast3rFr3aky yeah that gog games website makes sure to tries to get old games to work on windows vista or 7 cause a lot of old games don't work on modern systems

  • @Mast3rFr3aky It runs under XP, but the animations are extremely fast.

  • @Capt777harris you just need to run it through dosbox and download setup file so animations will work fine

  • @abisal0 It works, but the cutscenes don't play. At least the game runs.

  • I bought original Lords of the Realm Royal Collection including first second and third part for MAC and PC on eBay occasionally! It comes with original box, manuals, maps and stuff! It cost me $35 and worth the buy even today.

  • WHOE ARE YOU REALLY SERIUSE FOR MAC?

  • YES!

  • You mean it will work for a mac pro made in 2008 because thats what my laptops at

  • Let's ponder a little...

The game was made in 1996 so it is for old System 7 (Mac OS 7)

    and 68k/PPC Macintosh models.

If you were to run it on Mac Pro & OS X 10.4.7 which doesn't support

natively run earlier PPC applications it will either not launch/crash

or work unstable/too fast for today's Mac x86 architecture.

You need in that case to use some software emulation in your Mac Pro

to run earlier 68k/PPC applications at some performance penalty.

It's all there in Wikipedia btw.

  • so If I get 68k/PPC Im good or it srry man

  • @m0t0cr0sskid93 They sell a Vista/7 compatible version on GOG.com for $5.99. It includes LotR1 and 2.

  • @m0t0cr0sskid93 found it on Good ol Games GOG.Com. Siege pack and everything. Along with some other gems from Sierra back in the day. Lords of Magic, and Caesar 3.

  • @m0t0cr0sskid93 It's on GOG.com without any DRM and with Win XP/Vista/7 compatibility for like $6. GOG is the BEST site for classic games. If you want Lords of the Realm 2 check it out there.

  • @andStack Thank you so much! I couldn't get it to work on my computer for years cause its so fast....not anymore, you are a lifesaver!

  • @ryantheanalyst

I'd love to take all the credit but I have to give SOME to the folks at GOG. Seriously though, I'm glad to help anyone play such a great game. Hope you enjoy it for many hours!

  • do u know where 2 get this game ? plz tell me u know. and does this game work on vistia?? thanks

  • kinda cool, some parts are good but I'm not particularly in the flute parts. Looks like this game is set up kinda like tw by the looks of it. Just smaller scale battle i suppose?

  • There is FAR more micromanagement on the campaign map then you might think. You start off with one county on the map(e.g. England, Italy, Germany). There are up to 4 other nobles(The Knight, The Baron, The Bishop and The Countess) all vying for control. YOU have to assign peasants to work on everything in any given county you have under your control. Wikipedia actually has a detailed page on Lords of the Realm II. That's odd for Wikipedia, isn't it?

  • I dunno, wikipedia has sites about pretty much everything. But I guess this game is more complex than it looks :p

  • It's one of the great strategy games of all time. If it had upgraded graphics and MP3 quality sound and music, this would be another game people would flock to.

The sequal, Lords3, tried to turn the Lords series into an RTS, which nobody really liked. The Lords series was always meant to be a turn based game, and that's part of what makes it such a good game. You're not in a massive click fest.
