This is great. I hadn't seen it yet. Several months ago I received a message from Dr. Russell about some trials with glucagon, but he pointed me at a different video.
@tqb43 No, he doesn't! As the doctor explains, the algorithm is designed to pick up the slack no matter how many carbs he eats. The pre-meal bolus is just designed to give his system a head start, since insulin doesn't work right away. Eventually there may be various pre-meal boluses, depending on the size of the meal, but as of right now, it doesn't involve any carb counting for the patient.
@DiabetesMine That's awesome! Do you think they'll combine the glucagon and insulin into one pod so one doesn't have to wear so much? And any idea when this will be moving forward?
@tqb43 I think there will be a heavy push for it once the individual pod APP is shown effective, and there is no firm time line on when that will happen. They are still waiting for improvements in the sensors.

That's a lot of stuff to put on… The FDA just allowed for more research, but I play sports and is very active. I'm glad to see progress though :)

So does he still have to put in how many carbs he eats?
