  • very clever twist in lyrics, from a male point of veiw to a female. Superb!

  • Excellent !

    What a Coordination, huh!

  • such a perfect voice

  • thumb's up if you are here cause of burberry

  • I still love her today , RIP Dusty.

  • Old mate of mine rushed to see her in London , couldn't find a parking spot so parked in back lane , Dusty finished her gig and rushed out the back to be blocked in , old mate get his car number plate called out over PA , was told Dusty wants to speak to him !!! HE saunters out with big smile on his dial , as he gets into lane he says hello Dusty , she says is that you're car ? He goes yea , Dusty says well fackin move it dick head , lmao , true story his name was Arthur. He realized then that

  • wow

  • Best recording of this song I've ever heard. And considering that the original was done by Gene Pitney, that's saying something.

  • @The1962driftingaway - I'm inclined to agree. I never thought I would hear a version better than the original but I think I just have.

  • What a stunning vocal.

  • Cant get enough of this song!! I love it

  • see raven.

  • Happy Birthday Dusty

  • I love this song, she has a great voice. Not really sure how anyone could dislike this song. I'm 26 and I like it.

The music to this song always reminds me of "Down In The Boondocks" by Billy Joe Royal.

  • Seriously how do you get the nerve up to dislike this? Taste-less Rhianna fans probably...

  • Beautiful and what a voice!

  • Efortless performance! I think she was one of the best singers in the world. She just hits notes with no build up. Perfect pitch and no straining. RIP lass x x From a fan. x

  • Dusty blows me away every single time she sings. What a voice. And I love the way she bows to the audience as a thank you when she finishes. Total class. RIP Dusty... we all miss you but have your music to carry us thru.

  • Dusty Had Beautiful Long Legs That She Hardly Ever Showed.

She Was Such A "Turn On"****

  • OMG, I love this voice and this nice lady. I know she has passed now. What a personalityh and gifted peep for all of us to enjoy. THANK YOU !

  • very very good

  • i remember seeing a Dusty/Gene duet on TV in the late 80s, but cant find it anywhere...it was a semi-hit in about 1988

  • Dusty had a great voice but she didn't interpret this song very well...she missed some of the nuances and altered a few lyrics...not the best version I've heard.

I'm going to press the dislike button..so go ahead , hate me.

  • @QueenReigns1 Get a new pair of ears

  • @tinker1960 Piss Off !

  • @QueenReigns1 and a new mouth

  • @tinker1960

This one works fine, says all the dirty words I want it to...shit head.

  • This is one of the best interpretations of a song ever, by any artist. And I'm not taking anything away from Gene Pitney's original version, which is a classic. But Dusty's phrasing, inflections, pauses, body language, everything, is just so perfect.

  • what a performance!!!!!! this time she knew ALL the words...praise God

  • @gaydar456

If she knew all the words then why did she get some of them wrong ?

  • What a voice!!!!!

  • A great song by Burt and performed in a way only Dusty could do. To watch and hear Dusty sing this song brings a tear to my eyes. God bless you Dusty!

  • I think it's appropriate we're seeing these precious performances in black & white......because that's what Dusty was......black AND white. Much to our benefit. Thank you Dusty for taking such big risks, at a time when women usually didn't. Love you girl.

  • Classic Dusty! Superb.

  • Spectacular cover by a great singer. 5/5.

  • how many hundreds of times have I heard this....still gives me chills. There is only one Dusty!!

  • Dusty + Bacharach = even more scrumptious than tea and crumpets with jam AND butter :-)

  • Bought a lot of her records in the 60s. My favourite female singer.

  • beautiful rendition xxxx R.I.P - TRAGIC XX

  • Gosh--- Dusty could just effortlessly BURP and it would be like lyrical music from heaven. Incredible!

  • Spectacular video.

    And musically, late 20th-century? Female?

Dusty Springfield, Aretha, Gladys Knight, Shirley Bassey.

    That's it, I think.

  • Skip the negative vote. It was my mistake. Of course, I vote always positive for Dusty. One of my best., together with Helen Shapiro, Karen Carpenter, Brenda Lee etc

  • good to see the old carpet muncher again!!!!!

  • Omg ... Im normally into modern electronic music, alternative electronic music that is... Telefon Tel Aviv, Crystal Castles, you name it. Definitely not into 60's pop music. But this lady's voice simply throws me away. Wonderful

  • This woman was just unlike anyone that I have heard sing. Nobody will ever come close to her "glowing voice." Just awesome!

  • Respond to this video...AND SO SAY ALL OF US!!!

  • pity she was a lesbian, but i could have shagged that out of her

  • @gazzah54 dream on

  • @gazzah54 Why would she wanna shag a fully fledged imbecile???

  • So much wonderful Dusty footage...If I was told I could only listen to one artist for the rest of my life it would be her! Thanks for the uploads:D

  • what nickole kickman is playing dusty? She was wonderful in Molin Rouge

  • This still floors me. A girl with a microphone with no extra p.a. enhancement, minimal stage set and utterly captivating. What an amazing , character-filled voice. Very much like some wonderful emotive horn.

  • @LOVEMPIRE666 ............Sorry buddy, flamesounds is not biased, just correct and todays turkeys don't hold a candle to her (but I admire much of Pinks efforts)

  • @woody7075 Exactly! I read on here , will reviewing her videos , that someone mentioned if a biofilm were created about her life, who would portray her. Pink!! Entirely different persona but, like Dusty, many have called Pink, " White lady of Soul!" It's true! Pink can act and she would be perfect saluting Dusty. They both have the slightly deep, soft, sexy voice...Just found it interesting.

  • @Gem5771 I agree with you Gem.....like the spirit and attitude Pink portrays in many of her songs....it may just be interesting to have Pink step up to the plate and portray THE GREATEST FEMALE SINGER IN POP HISTORY - DUSTY SPRINGFIELD

  • @woody7075 Well like many fans on here...there will never be another performer like this woman. I am just glad that I have had the pleasure of becoming a fan and she is definitely mind blowing when would sing here. Thanks!

  • WOW ! Love THIS WOMAN !!!!

  • so I'm reposting this song just cuz I relly love this version althought Gene Pitneys is hard to beat, but Dusty is the Diva. I'm wondering if that movie about her with Nicole Kiddman playing Dusty is truth or fiction? If it's truth , hoping it'll be true to her life.

  • A bold song for her to choose, and a crazy song for a true lady to pull off. But Dusty, does it again, making us totally believe this great Bacharach song. I can just see some little cafe and a couple slow dancing in the night amidst the glow of a jukebox.

  • Great woman! Great voice! she was a great human being!

  • I cant believe someone preserved such great video footage - I also found a 60's set that seems really cool - it has Dusty Springfield, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Herman's Hermits and Small Faces - reelinintheyears(dot)com/britishinvasion

  • simply love this song -- mmm i bet dusty could have written her own songs if only given the chance (Karen Carpenter as well)....Susan Boyle probably could too -- they all know there range and can rewrite songs to adjust accordingly -- Babs did this to every song she sang -- and Babs didn't spend most of her days writing songs -- who has time these days -- she did win an award for one song she wrote Evergreen I think

  • @herasmarket I think that Paul Williams wrote Evergreen...I would have to do a little research to say for sure! :)

I'm not a big Babs fan at all, but love Dusty and Subo!!

  • I play this song all the time in my car. She is such a brilliant singer. No one compares. Miss you loads dusty xxxx

  • Even though it is Gene Pitney's song, I have always loved Dusty's version. Great song, love both versions.

  • Gene Pitney was good, but I liked Dusty best singing this song.

  • Well I have the total opposite opinion,

Dusty Springfield was great, but Gene Pitney makes you feel this song in a way she doesn't quite match.

  • @17865329 Just curious...have you ever heard Dusty's studio recording of this song? It is better than this live performance. If you've never heard her original recording of this song, you should give it a try! :)

  • @shapeepster - I agree the studio version is better. It is a real close call between Dusty and Gene at that point. Dusty live was really special though, playing a video of her on a computer does not quite capture her magic.

  • @9aspengold5 You're right about that! No one does this song like she could!!

  • Never hear this on radio stations anymore. Great song. Great performance by Dusty.

  • Beautiful!!!

  • Burt Bacharach/Hal David song

  • DUSTY, I have loved you since 1964 and I always will. YOU ARE THE GREATEST FEMALE SINGER OF MY LIFETIME.

  • My Lifetime too!!

  • The slightly naughty look on Miss Springfield's face as she sings the line about being shown where to eat is worth the price of admission. :)

  • I so wish that there will be an all Dusty's tv series seasons...

I SWEAR I CAN PAY EVERYTHING I CAN PAY TO OWN THIS

  • sadly, it would seem a fair number have been erased.

  • Man this takes me back....love her voice.

  • i dont actually think she had the greatest voice ever, fabulous though it was but as a total package (i.e. stage presence, interpretation of songs etc) she is very tough to beat in my books. Plus I find her humbleness and insecurity strangely appealing

  • @wilco9971

niet iedereen heeft verstand van muziek

  • Yes, she was the greatest. Best of the best.

  • The best.

  • yes dusty i remember it gene pitney

  • but dusty? 24 hours from TULSA? wtf? that's USA miles... I love you just the same.. THis song you sang to me is well NEW TO ME....brand new 2009 new to me...WOW

    WOW

    thank you

    I LOVE IT !

  • DANG IT - WOW , what a voice !!!! OMG I was an infant back then but damn she is/was amazing ! WOW !

  • God that voice amazing.

  • Lovely - thank you

  • greatest female singer ever,

  • Comment removed

  • That is high praise

because there are so very many.

  • ...she was tops...but refused to playball w/ the big guys...!

  • Did Dusty and Cass Elliot ever sing together, does anyone know?

  • I've critically analyzed Dusty's work in every possible way. As a musician, it's my unwavering opinion she was the best female performer, of any racr or genre, in my lifetime thus far. She had an amazing voice, was beautiful, charming, classy, bright, cute, funny and covered an astonishing variety of material. I believe as time passes her fan base will actually grow, perhaps bigger than it was during her lifetime. She should have been the female Beatles. Dusty, I love and miss you like crazy!

  • Yes. Dusty was one in a million.

  • Totally agree with you although I might not be a musician myself.....she has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard!

  • Well said.....cool.

  • Comment removed

  • Dusty was absolutely amazing, best female pop singer of the 60's, but to be a female Beatles, she would have had to written her own material

  • @peacemonger1967 She did write/co write 3 songs one of which is a beautiful ballad as good as anything of its kind from the 60's - I'm Gonna Leave You

  • @flamesounds ...............YOU ARE TOTALLY CORRECT.....SHE IS UNEQUIVOCALLY THE GREATEST. Todays efforts are absolute comparitive midgets!!

  • @flamesounds I hear that and I agree. Well, tied with Aretha. And Diana and Martha Reeves very close. PG

  • @flamesounds. I know this, she wouldn't have said no to the girls that the Beatles attracted. Then again, she liked women than underage girls.

  • @flamesounds I couldn't agree with you more. She had it all. I miss her too.

  • @flamesounds I agree with you 100%. I thought I was the only one who felt she was the best. Her facial expresiions, vocal inflections, pitch, etc., all became one with the song.

  • @mycoolride Yes, she was obviously the best. It's a shame her management and promotion was so lousy.. What a waste of an absolute wonder......................

  • @flamesounds So true. But at least we got to experience her brilliance. You could tell she put her heart and soul into every performance. I just hope she had a happy life.

  • @flamesounds +1. Dusty disappeared during most of the '70s and by the time she came back in the '80s, she was never the same singer she was here. I look at what she did after her "Dusty in Memphis" album and I inevitably can't help but think about what a lousy agent she had.

Electric, sexy, throaty, incomparably soulful, Dusty in her prime was as good a performer as she was a singer. Too bad her version of this on Ed Sullivan isn't still up, or you'd see what I mean.

  • @flamesounds

Agreed , absolutely the finest white girl singer ever.

  • My HEART says she is the best voice ever heard in the world.

  • I agree with your heart...and hearts tend to know these things.

  • Strange isn't it?one song from Dusty is never enough, once I start listening, Bam! I'm hooked and I'm searching for her songs and interviews for hours & hours.

God how I miss yer lass.

    R.I.P Dusty, ever your's Ray ♥ X X X

  • Can someone tell me where is 24 hous from Tulsa. Any suggestions?

  • Los Angeles. Miami. Baltimore. Calgary.

  • Sydney, Australia . . . if you get the connecting flights right!

  • New York is about 24 hours if you drive straight through.

  • I had a recent and brief flirtation with ABBA singers Agnetha Faltskog and the lovely Frida Lyngstad. But Dusty is in a league of her own. Vocally she is without equal and always will be!

  • WOW, how awesome was that.!!!

  • For my money, she's the greatest female vocalist the UK has yet to produce.

  • you meant the world ;-)

  • I once heard a story that she threw a bag of flour over Gene Pitney, anyone know that story?

  • I've read that too, but, as with a lot of things associated with Dusty, it is out of context. It seems that aside from being great entertainers and friends, a lot of the musicians who spent time together were great pranksters... and Dusty received more than her share of pranks. It turns out though, that she could "give as good as she got". I think she was a woman to be trifled with at your own peril! Perhaps she wanted him to know what it was like to be "Dusty"....

  • When Buddy Rich was being nasty to her, she eventually slapped him. His band privately said they'd wanted to do it for years.

  • I listen to this lady morning ,noon and night and I still can't get enough - I'll never tire of her voice.

  • Dusty can sing anything and sing and sing it better than anyone. R.I.P lass.

    Love & respects Ray♥ X X X

  • You mean she passed away?

  • thank you, thank you, thank you

  • Jesus ! Spectacular. Stunning talent.

  • Très ancienne chanson, pas de mon époque. Mais malgré tout j'apprécie cette chanson....

  • She is one of the very best. The Very Best.

  • Class, taste, style, talent, intelligence, and grace all rolled up into one beautiful package...Dusty Springfield. What more could you ask for? Unfortunately, when they made her they broke the mold. She was one of a kind.

  • Lovely.

  • Man, Dusty was a looker in her day and a awesome powerful voice to boot!

  • As good as the one version by Gene Pitney. Dusty we love you.

  • Better than Gene Pitney...

  • I love Gene Pitney, but this version moves me more.

  • yeah i agree!

  • Believably unbelievable.

  • Absolutely marvelous!! Nobody can sing like Dusty. Todays stars can't hold a candle to her. God bless Dusty, RIP

  • Elegant and talented beyond reproach. How very few today are even tolerable? But Dusty is forever.

  • Aguilera with Doctor John was pretty great....

  • Great video, thank you!

  • From my area of expertise I would say Dusty Springfield was the Larry Bird of 60s female pop singers.

  • @jmazzeo437 Brilliant comment....Larry Bird is God as far as basketball goes......and I guess that makes Dusty God as far as pop singers for all time goes!!!

  • BRILLIANT! makes me go weak in the knees! its cute how she goes she'll hope she'll remember the words!

  • WOW, beautiful, what a voice, effortless.

  • There is no other female singer like her. What style and class!!! R.I.P. She looked Fabulous!!!!

  • Shes the Queen Of Singers, i daresay!

  • I love this lady. Thanks for posting.

  • Such an immense talent. The Voice... the voice is majical. She is quite a looker too! I am so very glad there was a Mary 'Obrien to be our Dusty. Love her.

  • Dusty was the greatest of them all.

    Nobody else comes close.

  • Dusty was the greatest of them all.......and still remains the greatest female voice in popular/r&r/soul music in the last 60 years

  • Yep woody - spot on

  • Can you believe she never thought she was pretty? I never saw Dusty that she didn't look absolutely amazing.

  • I no! isnt it sad! but some people are just like that for whatever reason....they call it body dimorphic disorder.....sad...

  • Greatness never fades. Thank you for posting.

  • Absolutely great. I miss you Dusty.

  • If Gene hadn't already done this Dusty's version would have made a very fine replacement. Tremendous.

  • I will never forget where I was when I heard the tragic news that Dusty had died. The world lost one its greatest treasures.

Thank you for ensuring many many people can see this amazing woman in one of her finest performances. People like you make YouTube a brighter place in the world.

  • So clear! Thanks so much for uploading - absolutely ADORE Dusty!

  • I have always loved her so...

    Since I was 14..

    The one and only Queen....

Dusty may the angels sing with you.....

  • always loved this song (props to mr pitney) -dusty beautiful always
