GREAT days so much quality music in the charts then_most of literally.Today you got black guys and wannabe black singing girls(white girls copying all black girls singing sty;e_ and doing songs with no melody. Pathetic!!
Sweet kicked arse!!!! Tommy Lee ripped off Mick so much!
@alcockell Yes, and Brian May's sound is similar to Andy's approach on recordings that pre-date Queen. Lot of cross-pollenation between these two bands.
Indifferent audience reaction !!! Bit too heavy for the 15 year old girls eh ? I bought this in 75 and on the B-side was another gem "Sweet FA". Great band !!
funny how all the glam acts are in the lower reaches of the charts-75 was the end of the road pretty much for slade, t.rex, sweet, gary glitter, mud..
an audience of f***ing zombies. they look like they don't even know what they are doing there. come on people this is a high energy song. your suppossed to be flipping out! i don't know how the sweet delt with that crap.
@addadiktome ...that's because the little shites attending TOTP were jaded by 1975, plus...the backing vocals and the keyboards and a lot of the guitar parts were obviously 'canned'. But I feel your pain...this IS a high energy song, and it stands the test of time, so much so, Def Leppard covered it with homage in the 90's...
Sweet Were The First True Heavy Metal Band, in my opinion Give Us A Wing is heavier than for example Black's Sabbath's "Technical Extasy". Long Live Sweet!
Hey Rozzyable - I could not agree more with you re Give Us A Wink - it is really a fantastic album - I have it in the car right now and I can just hear it over and over again
I really cannot say which is my favorite Sweet Album - I think that each have their own style, Sweet Fanny Adams a true Heavy Rock Album, Desolation Boulevard kind of back to basic album, Give us A Wink I already commeted on, Level Headed really shows how great musicians they in fact was
@RobinCarmody Black 'n Blue did an absolutely kickass version of this great song on their debut album. Totally agree with you the DL's version blew badly!!

My favourite Sweet track. The guitar licks are superb!
Like the Beatles, they are still 50% intact!

Do you think Brian Connolly looked like Mark McManus from Taggart, the tv detective?
He shouldn't! there were stories that they were half brothers but it's not true.

Not everyone thinks this is proto-punk. But they should. An awesome burst of power that deserved far better than Def Leppard's dreadful cover.
