A great movie that I predict will be underrated, because it challenges the growing illiterate world and its lack of imagination. Just how many do not see the inspiration these John Carter novels were to the less-than imaginative movies of today is beyond me. For that reason I fear this movie will be overlooked because it will truly challenge the mind of today; something most have no desire for.

Saying this is like Tron is like saying Lord of the Rings is like any fantasy story that came after it. If anything Tron is a version of this movie.

NOPE. not a wild west version of tron. John Carter is Classic Science Fiction - There are not many Sword wielding, death-ray equipped, four armed Green men or Flying Ships in the Wild West. The introduction is in the West then (pardon the pun) jumps right to the planet Mars.

The era that the film is set, is just after the American Civil War. 1870's odd. This Story was written in the VERY early 1900's and first published in 1917. Written by a man named Edgar Rice Burroughs.
