Just because you couldn't do it doesn't mean others can't...how about the movie "Homeless to Harvard". It is possible if the right motivation is there...and being in a shelter and being sick and tired of it makes for a great motivator.

It is astonishing how many well-meaning people will try to get a couple back together again when abuse is involved. It's as though they simply don't believe that the bruises and cuts and broken bones were really caused by the spouse -- and this is even more true when the abused spouse is the husband.

Even though I think the step mom was idiotic,I can see how she just like the daughter fell under his spell. He was manipulative,even with her dad(the scene where he was able to appeal to his male side and get into the house and subsequently beat the daughter). I like how realistic this movie is compared to other DV movies. The make up with the bruises lasted through many scenes,not just one and the next day they're gone(as is typical in these types of movies).

This movie is great. It actually explains what and how victims feel. The lady is right, i stayed because i thought i could change him and at then end i could not leave because i was afraid he was going to shoot me. WOW!!! Am so thankful I found the strength I needed to leave- My faith has never let me down. I hope faith stays with many victims out there.
