The word 'awesome' is bandied around way too much these days; but in this case AWESOME is 100% appropriate! Thanks for putting this together! Wonderful work!
Why can't modern movies be this good? Okay the acting my be cheesy sometimes, but they were all so atmospheric. Not like today's CGI choked rubbish! Fantastic compilation. Cheers!!! ;-)
Because so many people (not all of course:-) forgot how to use their imagination and now need to have everything spelled out to them. Back then too, people at least appreciated the art of SPFX. Funny how many now complain of oldschool FX yet will be 1st to b!tch about CGI looking fake. HO HUM! THANKS AGAIN P'!
and OMG its Jason and the Argonauts lol i have FM issues 9,126,113,100-109, and a bunch of others like 30 more, i was reading issue 126 today with MR Sardonicus on the front! but my favorite is issue 58 with Boris Karloff on the cover as the mummy!
Better late than never-sorry for the late reply! But yea, got those issues too-cool they are! Especially the Price cover:-) The Godzilla issue (#114) is also cool. If ya ever get tired of your copies, please...feel free to send them this way...lol JK;-)
WUZZUPPERZ MJC! Heeeeeeeeeeell yeeeeeeeeeah....Sinbad rocks! And well, you know what I think of FM's & old flix:-) That's great you're carrying the torch on! And Killer Bunny....woop! woop!!!
SORRY FOR THE LATE REPLY! Didn't know comments could be added anywhere along the list here instead of sequentially...lol! TO ANSWER: Check the Church Of Ebay. You can always find tons of back issues there:-)
AMAZING! THANK YOU! I have seen most of these flicks many many times since childhood, I own almost every magazine whose covers flashed by, I know I'm gonna have to watch this one a few more times to try to take it all in. I also plan to send the link out to lots of friends. I'm embarrassed to ask, but is the opening sequence from I Walked With a Zombie? Or Perhaps White Zombie? I don't know. And the image of the Grim Reaper swinging the scythe is from what?
HEY! *THANK YOU VERY MUCH* for the kind words:-) They're appreciated! It's cool this found its way to another Old School Warren Pubs & Classics Peep (I was *hoping* there were some of us still out there, lol)! A fading breed we are, no?
And no sweat on the questions, lol: YES, the opening is from IWWAZ (the homefort sequence), and the Reaper is from METROPOLIS (somewhere around the Wh*re of Babylon & fever sequences). Infernal Regards!
Image of Grim Reaper is from Fritz Lang's classic "Metropolis".Main character/hero Frederson's nightmare from fever.Part of sequence where 7 deadly sins statues come alive.Very creepy, was made in 1920s silent era, considered cutting edge.'False Maria' robot also from film.Lucas modeled CP3-0 from this design. Also(not on DVD-possibly bootleg only VHS) see 80s Giorgio Moroder's homage adding 1980's 'New Wave' music.
And just to add to your Metropolis comments, I'd read there was a/or some newly discovered reel(s) of footage that bridges gaps in the story--16mm if I remember right though I can't remember my source (aaagh!). But might be worth looking for info on the net for fans of the film:-)
If you happen to have the Turner Movie Classics Channel you may have heard it from Film Historian Robert Osbourne. I am glad you reminded me about some of the 'lost pieces' of the film. They did a number on it when it was brought over to the American market. What a shame. Anyhoo, I will be back to watch your video again and again. I sent it to some people I knew would appreciate it. The music is awesome also! Thank you - you are very talented.
THANKS for your kind words and thanx for passing on the vid:-)! Google -Argentina Metropolis Lang- They've recently uncovered the 3 1/2 hour DIRECTOR's CUT! This is the cut I was referring too. I think the one you mention was the KINO release? A beautiful print for sure---LOVE watching that one. This newly discovered one is the-THE- grail for fans finally. Now if they can only get the KING KONG SPIDER PIT sequence found!
COOL! THANKS for that info--DEFINITELY want to check that out when it arrives- of course, we all know there's going to be a bunch of "definitive restorations" on THAT version before the dust settles--lol!
Nice mix..I like it
