The martini glass probably wasn;t even real, most likely a folded plastic cup. And why do you think he never let them examine the painting? And also the dark colors and many lines in the painting were used to hide the slits. You need a proffesional slight of hand for pulling a martini out of your sleeve. But while using a proffesionally made platform? Easy.
