my hair is the same way relaxed.. not from the relaxer but actually from a hair product i used and it caused terrible tangles and it was glued matted SHUT
I'm experiencing BAD hair breakage in my crown as well ugh...got a question I don't cut or trim at ALL & will never, but I do keep my head wrapped mostly all the time, so what else can I do to help my hair grow back healthy...? =/
I can relate to this. Just got 10 inches of my hair chopped off because the front portion where my bangs would be, was way shorter than the back due to breakage. I have about 3 inches of hair now . Had to start over but it feels good to know I will have a much more healthy head of hair
Individuals with Scalp Psoriasis are half of the psoriasis population. The harshness of flaking ranges from petite dandruff-like flakes to plaques with thick, grey scales.Scalp psoriasis often extends past the hairline down onto the face, and on the backs of the ear. Severe scaling and flaking from psoriasis cause most psoriasis victims to experience embarrassment and emotional distress. The American Institute of Advanced Medicine offers treatment for scalp psoriasis and other skin disorders.
I'm 37 weeks pregnant and have been dealing with breakage in certain areas since the beginning of my natural hair journey, which is basically the beginning of my pregnancy. Thanks for the video and the info in the description box. It is just hair and my breakage is probably because of my pregnancy b/c I take very good care of my hair, in my opinion.
yes, it's just hair, but thx for this vid. i needed to hear this today. my eyes were welling up just listening to this, lol. i need to get it together!
I found that taking boitin helps ur hair grow faster. Also moroccan oil or moroccan hair creme helps keep hair moisturized w/out being greasy. Ur hair drinks it in. You cant put too much in. Ive tried to see if it would get greasy, it never did. I have super thin/dry hair. It really helps w/breakage/keeping it soft.
BEST video I've seen yet! I have been naturally for 3 years and about a year ago, I started losing hair at my crown/scalp. I saw my Dermatologist and she said all of my cycles just happen to be going on at the same time which is why the sudden clump losses. I feel finally, a year later, that has slowed. I wash my hair everyday to style curly, but now I am EXTRA careful when shampooing and styling not to rip hair out just to detangle. Also, I take my vitamins, biotin, B12, multi.
Breakage is one thing, hair loss (balding) is another. I seen your video recommending vitamins. Do you know of any natural cures for this using herbs?
@marlarice: I placed a natural treatment I give my clients on my site, I placed it there for those with hair issues to use. I will only leave it on display for a few more days.
My crown is the worst part of my hair too. When I wore my hair in a relaxer, the front and crown grew the fastest; the back seemed like it would never grow. Now that my hair is natural, the back grows fast; the crown and front grow slow. So, right now, there is a lot of uneven hair on my head. I am going to try twists or braids to give my hair a break from the piking out and daily manipulating to see if that helps with the breakage and loss. I have BC'd twice.
@crownofhisglory-THAT'S EXACTLY WHERE MY HAIR BREAKS LOL! Now I only use natural styles and I braid the crown with olive oil and leave in conditioner. IT REALLY WORKS.
I've been reading articles posted every Monday about natural hair on a website called ColumbusBlack out of Columbus, OH. It has helped me in my natural hair care journey. I've experienced lots of hair breakage and these articles have helped me manage my natural hair.
I am so scared. My hair is breaking really badly, but it never got that bad until 8 months ago. I believe it's because of the chemicals. I would perm it, then after a while I would put extensions in it. I'm only 14, so I don't have a job and my mom doesn't care. Watching these videos is making me cry because my hair is really unhealthy and idk what to do. I was not willing to go natural because it was so short and damaged, so I keep braiding it with extensions and weaving it. HELP!! ;-(
@babyvae14 you would need to stop using chemicals on your hair if it's breaking in order for it to regain strength. you also need to use INTENSIVE deep conditioners and not use heat in your hair until you can see a professional for help. Good Luck!
@babyvae14 if u don't stop with the chemicals and heat etc. your hair will be short anyway. You have to stop putting so much stress on your hair if you ever want it to be healthy. Do some research on protective hairstyles and give your hair a break. You don't have to go natural but you can reduce the stress on your hair.
i like this video b/c we get on the blogs and get all obsessed with length and are traumatized by setbacks but that jsut gives us an oppoertunity to learn from our mistakes and re-evaluate our regimens and start over
HELP...My hair was very long but it is getting short now it is coming out at an alarming rate. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I am only 25 years old and everyone is worried about me because they say that this is not normal.

I need a trim badly but no in days you go to some of these shops they chop all of you hair off and/or they say they don't know how to do natural hair. its been 2yrs since my relaxed hair and I have been getting sew-ins, braids and I just did my first kinky twist. Check out my pics and videos on facebook. I owe it to all the women on youtube for my hair care journey thank you all for posting your videos.
my mom told me that black females hair takes longer than anyone elses hair to grow. im about to get a "wavey / curly perm" and i dont know if i should do it or not. my hair will hang down and be pretty but is it worth it??
It's not worth it. Your hair will end up being weak and damaged due to the chemicals in the perm. I'm transitioning from a relaxer to natural hair now, and trust me hair without chemicals is much much stronger and healthier than hair with chemicals slathered on it.
actually hair grows the same as any one else. It's just that some people perm and braid their hair too much it looks like it never grows. all the chemiclas kill their hair.
I used to use wanakee products to. I was crazy about it until the company switched hands and they went crazy on the prices. The two products you mentioned are good though.
I experienced breakage this year as I was learning how to flat iron my hair and what products worked etc. I wear wash and go styles or two-strand twists now and will continue until it begins to get alittle chilly here in the Windy City (October). It always grows my hair.

Hey Natural Diva 10. I'm really curious about how you care your hair without heat. I stopped using heat (lightly blow-drying) in Feb and kept receiving increasing hair knots and split ends like I've never seen in my life by April/May. I have started locs and I'm not going back to loose right now but I'm just a little curious about your regimen. Please respond here or send me a message. I'd appreciate it.
Every week, I wash, deep condition, roller set and air dry overnight. In the mornings, I use a little oil and separate my curls. To maintain this look, I moisturize, pin curl at night, and sleep in a satin cap. It is so important to trim your ends on a regular basis to prevent knots and split ends. Hope this helps.
Hmmm. OK. If I'm ever a loose natural again I may try the roller-set thing. Your regimen sounds pretty cool actually. Wish I could have tried it earlier and sen the result. Thanks for responding!
you are right but at the same time all hair has the ability to break, it's jus that the way our hair is built (flat instead of round) it is more vunerable to breakage...
Great video. Yes looking at your hair, I did not notice the breakage. I was assuming that with everything you were doing with your hair it was not breaking. Thank you for informing us.
