Just this morning, I received a call like this telling me I won $350,000. He would have been convincing, but I am up on the red flags; I'm an Administration of Justice student. I let him think I believed him, and he told me to wire money via Western Union to "a U.S. attorney" in Costa Rica. Imagine that! He actually had the audacity to call me back a couple of hours later for the 10 digit WU number so that his henchman could pick up the dough. BOYYYY did he get a nasty earfull from me!
@NaturalRepublic Not only that people, but he also gave me a toll free number that was supposed to be the PCH verification department which I did call. These people are quite elaborate in their schemes! If I did not know the law concerning such things I might have fallen for it too. I did call a REAL PCH rep.in their fraud dept, and they did take down all the phone numbers that I was given along with other relevant information. I was assured that PCH will never call you, nor ask for any fees.
cont- The scammer called from Washington DC, (202) 509-0692, and claimed that he was AN AGENT with the Federal Trade Commission. I called the number back and spoke with him. The number that he gave me that was SUPPOSED to be for the PCH winner verification dept.is 1-866-221-4894; I spoke to a female there who "verified" that I am a winner. Of course it was false. I am sharing all this to expose these assholes and hopefully avert them from doing this to someone else.
my great grandma is stupid and falls for this scam! She fucking gets mail from them ALL the time and sends them shit!! She's stubborn and wasting it all on them.
@TheSolDit Uh...NO you don't. Unless THEY send you postage to send it back, KEEP it - it's yours. And if they try to charge your credit card for it, contest the charge. And if there's still a problem, contact a lawyer to give them a phone call... :-)
I should had done the my research fall in the web not that much i lost it was only 125. dollar like it said PCH never call. And just the call was form Jamica. Will it was my promble not doing my home. Thanks for posting this.
It's true that they say that u never get a call. They send u a letter and an email telling u that you won. Then, the prize patrol will come to see you. And you absolutely don't pay a single thing to get your prize money. Of course, later u must pay taxes on prize money, but of course, that's a part of any money prize. Hope that helped. Do research or be scammed, people.
There's also a PCH number that you can call to verify that you have won something from them. It's 1-877-3SWEEPS or 1-877-379-3377 Do your research people or suffer the consequences.
We got a call like that once. On caller I.D. It said Publishers Clearing House. Now after watching this video. Now I am glad we had never answer the phone! Thank God for caller I.D.
Trace the phone call and hunt these fuckers down. :-)

This doesn't mean that the publishers clearing house is a scam, just that someone used PCH to scam them.
