One time I was throwing a Grass Frog at night and a deer was down at the edge of the water standing in the lilly pads drinking water from the lake. I threw the lure up into the shallows and when it hit, it went "plop". The deer, which my Dad and I didn't see, suddenly ran through the water and up into the woods full throttle. Wow that was scary. I love topwater fishing.

There's a lake in Fitgerald, Ga, similar to this...it's cypress trees in water all over the lake and the biggest Bass we pulled out was only 4 lbs, but we caught over 50 Bass and before I could research the lake further the owner died and it was no longer a pay pond. Closed down by the Son.

Good job on the hooksets. When most people fish a frog, they want to set the hook right as the bass explodes at the surface. Got to wait a little bit to let em have it, then you cross their eyes! I had that problem and actually gave up frogs till I learned about how to set the hook properly with them.

Hollow body frog hook sets aren't most often a miss on the hook set. Try to open the gap of the double hook.

hey i see you have alot of luck with frogs and i went out the other day and got five strikes on the snag proof tournament frog but all got off before i landed them i had the drag right waited before hookset and set the hook hard idk what the problem is

@BassinCalifornia Poppie has a point. Another thing to remember is to not react too quickly, give it a chance to suck the frog right in, drop rod tip pointed toward the fish, take up slack and give it a solid set as apposed to suddenly yanking the bait out of it's mouth. When I set you could say its a two part action. Once the slack is up, I lift the rod tip till I feel the weight and set back with a 1-2 foot solid pull.

either those fish are done spawning, or that habitat is deprived of food for the bass. The bass i catch here in Alabama aren't as big as the ones you get, but they sure are a lot more bulkier. I still wish i could catch bass off of topwaters.
