Karma in my opinion is kind of like the The Secret. I think Karma works because if you do good things you'll feel good about yourself which will positively effect your life. You'll start seeing the good things in life more because subconsciously you believe you deserve it. It's the opposite of guilt.

Similarly, The Secret works because if you believe you have to power to make good things happen you'll be more optimistic and feel more empowered, which will give you a good outlook.

For example, you help someone, that makes them want to help someone else, etc. So your one good action has a ripple effect which eventually gets back to you. Wouldn't it be great if this is really what happens? We may all have more power than we often think.

I think Karma is often exaggerated... it's really just cause and effect, and could mean the tiniest kind of cause and effect. Example- I push a ball off the edge of the table, it will bounce onto the floor. Some ideologies just think of this cause and effect as a larger concept. And I think if karma exists it might be more undeterminable (word?) than people think... like i might think i'm doing something good, but in the "grand order" of things, it might be bad. Moreover, I do also think that it is cause and effect, but still in an indirect way puts the "balance" into play. As in, the "Pay It Forward" concept.
