  • i remember going to see them in concert..................loved them

  • I use to watch this show in the 70's as a kid with my mom and dad. I love those oldie songs they sang.

  • His voice is so clear and charismatic!

  • love it!

  • Thanks man! Being born in 1962 these were the first doowop singers I ever saw.

    On TV of course, lol.

  • ok in all fairness I listened to the Cleftones and its a great version but Santini is a smoother singer and Bowser is better than their bass person. So guess my vote still goes to Sha na na for this song.

  • I know someone else did this originally but this is always the version I want to hear. Again a song where Sha na na is better than the original. IMHO

  • Sha Na Na had more talent than alot of the original singers of these songs. thanks for the memories!

  • faerydancer I can't thank you enough for your postings of Sha na na. Hopefully someday, someone will go through the legal crap and release these shows to the public on dvd. I know I would buy the box set if there was one. These guys are fantastic. They just don't make em like this anymore. What a phenomenon for our pop culture.

  • " WoW" Check out these guys? Found this by accident.

  • Thanks for posting on You Tube, Makes it easy to pull up SNN whenever and wherever I'm at.

  • He kind of croons it, the Cleftone's vocal is grittier.

  • Great video of days gone by but not forgotten

  • Hair or not I love your voice if your 60 or 70 now no matter your GREAT! Thanks for a little part of life that is special.

  • My girlfriend (now my wife of 27 years) saw Sha Na Na in concert more than 30 years ago. Great show ! Seems like yesterday.

  • wunderbar

  • This is great stuff!

  • The pastor of the armenian church i go to says Bowser looks exactly like an armenian even though Bowser's jewish.

  • Grease For Peace!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Cleftones had the original hit with Heart and Soul, Sha Na Na does a great job with this cover.

  • Santini is now a Dr with the U.S national soccer team, a very good singer and great entertainer in his days with the great Sha na na

  • Great song, Grease is the word

  • I consider myself a fairly loyal sha-na-na fan, but i have a silly question :X Who sang this originally? Does anyone? Gahh i've been searching the interwebs for an answer and i've failed miserably, so here i am to expose my stupidity to ya'll

  • Hoagy Carmichael, who wrote this song, originally sang it. This version is one of my favorites tho, along with the Cleftones version xD

  • Thank you :)

  • The Cleftones.

  • I think Santini and Cortardo are sooooo good looking. Anyone agree???

  • the cleftones sang it back in 1961

  • @ghostswerepeopletoo love your s/n lol These two guys were the sex symbols of this band. Both could connect with an audience with smoldering electricity. Johnny is just flat out gorgeous and Santini is very handsome. Both have superb voices. Of course my fave is Johnny. Santini is a pro with Elvis songs. Johnny is the king of the ballads.

  • @ghostswerepeopletoo yes.. I think Johnny just oozes the sexiness. Santini, it's the smile and that wink!!

  • @ghostswerepeopletoo Yes I agree!

  • @ghostswerepeopletoo Couldn't agree more, I could watch them all day. A year later !! S i g h. If youy see this in time .. have a Happy Christmas. MM

  • @ghostswerepeopletoo - I seen that Santini (Scott Powell) is an orthopedic surgeon. He has a website and just as handsome. Makes me want to break a bone!

  • Nicely done Dr. Powell!

  • at least when they were at columbia they were not burning american flags and disrespecting vietnam vets like some leftwing liberal idiots did.

  • Bowser was the original Hi-Top revivalist ;-)

  • Hmmm I think I'm in need of a surgeon. Ohhh Dr Powell... calling Dr. Powell ♥

  • Went to see if there is a "Sha Na Na" website and there is .. THE GUY SINGING THIS SONG IS NOW AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON IN LOS ANGELES!!! The accomplishments of these guys is just amazing. Thank you for posting this for us all to enjoy. :)

  • Well, he was doing some fancy footwork in this video, and now he does footwork full time (har har har . . . . )

  • did any of you know that Santini went to med school after he left Sha Na Na?

  • Yes, he's an orthopedic surgeon now, and Denny's a law professor. That's why get quite a chuckle when anyone suggests those guys were dumb. ;)

  • I just love it!!! My 19 year old son noticed I was playing "Sha Na Na" and I could tell he liked them ... but you should have seen his face when I said "come here, what do you think these people are doing now?" I said ''don't ever think you can't accomplish a worthwhile goal, this one ("Santini") is an orthopedic surgeon, etc." His eyes were round as saucers. Why don't we ever hear more about the successes?

  • It is a shame that we hear about stars who end up in jail and or lose their kids, but I had no idea that Santini was an orthopedic surgeon.

  • The founding members of Sha Na Na formed while they were students at Ivy League Columbia University in NY. While other non-Columbia members later joined the group, it's not surprising you'd get some surgeons and Law Professors out of the group. "Dumb" was a good natured act.

  • They don't make boy bands like this anymore.

  • Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!!!! This has made me soooo happy. You cannot even imagine the look on my mom's face when I play them for her...Awesome.

  • I CAN imagine! When I was a kid, my dad had taped episodes of Sha Na Na and I watched them over and over again (this was on one of the tapes) but we lost them. Then I came across some videos again and I flipped out hearing all of these old songs again. I love sharing the Sha Na Na love hehe =)

  • I'm so glad you do, faerydancer. And you're doing a great job! Thank you so much for all of these.

  • How did you get tapes?? The show was on from 77 til 81 where I lived (no VCR's back then)and I used to tape the songs from the show on a hand-held cassette player sitting in front of the TV. I would KILL for videos of the shows (since they are apparently NEVER going to release them on DVD!!!) Thanks SOOO much for posting these. I can now get my daily Johnny Contardo fix:)WOO!!

  • Well, there were reruns on TV later on and in 1988 there was a Sha Na Na marathon on Labor Day weekend. My dad taped that. But also, other fans taped reruns and that's how I've got them. I would love it if they released it on DVD though. Much better quality, sound, etc. That would be fantastic! I'll be posting more videos soon, too. =)

  • Okay - my son says I have some 'splaining to do because I sent that last message from his account and he's mad at me because he does not have a strange obsession with Johnny Contardo. So that message was from allsafetysacrificed's MOM!

  • man, I loved that show...

  • Thanks for putting all of these clips on here it is very nice of you. I know it makes me very happy Thanks again.

  • You are very welcome! I love watching the clips so I wanted to share! I know I looked about a year ago on YouTube for clips from the show and couldn't find any. So once I got some of them, I knew I just HAD to share them.

  • I preferred them in the earlier 12 piece time.

  • Although all 10 are talented, you've got put Contardo as overall #1. Chico or Dirty Dan would probably be towards the end since they did more guitair playing than singing and dancing. Donny was underrated.

  • Vocally, I think Johnny was #1, but I give Dirty Dan a lot of credit-he's filled in on piano and drums for Scott and Jocko. Personally, I think all of them were underrated. There was not one bum in that lot. Lots of love to Sha Na Na. Thanks again Brenda for posting these.
