If I see a baby animal on the road, I will take it home and care for it. If the government doesn't agree, they can die at the end of my shotgun barrel.
Man, I feel horrible watching these videos. Some odd weeks ago my cat brought me a baby fox just like this, dead (she normally brings home rats) and she was a bit torn up, herself. I just can't help feeling bad. I hope it was just the one she killed and not the others. D:
We did not remove the fox from his location... He was brought to us by someone who thought they were doing the right thing. In my opinion they did, because he was in the road. We are experts in dealing with animals and would appreciate respectful comments. Thank you.
You should not touch a baby animal, except if it is in real danger. The mother probably is hidden nearby, and she will reject it if the it smells human.
thats sad that he was on the road all alone, but sweet that you guys rescued the little one X3 looks like a baby red fox, most red foxes are born dark black or brown, but as they grow older and mature, their coat will turn to a bright, vibrant orange. sorry if I'm sounding like a nerd or a know it all, totally not my intention >.>
I don't think it's a baby fox..all baby foxes have that white color on the tale...or maybe it is I don't know.. They found it on the road.. hard to believe because a fox has her newborn in a den deep down in the ground..and she keep them there..
I have foxes on my property. I recently found 3 babies that were orphaned due to their mom being eaten by a pack of coyotes. I opted to intervene when I saw the three kits out of the den starving & desperate because mom never came home. I took them in, fed them special formula prescribed by a vet until they could eat raw minced chicken. After 2 weeks I turned them over to the Audubon Society for expert rehab into the wild in a remote area of my state. :)
that is a redfox kit born mostly brown they can vary in colors and shades depending on size and age what you have is a red fox and i think that she will be a great pet
oh its so adorable, but be it a fox or a pup,you did the right thing to bring it to a rescue place, cause either way ,its difficult to take care of a newborn, not impossible, just difficult, now the baby is in a good place, good job....
lazysailor, are you so lazy that you don't read video descriptions?
Here is a portion of it that might interest you:
"...The baby was turned over the the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida. It is never a good idea to try and raise a wild animal. Thank you to the good samaritans who saved this little guy. "
first off i understand you wanting to help this animal. But i doubt you are qualified. Without the mothers milk, at such a young age it will have problems later on in life and might die. I would seriously consider taking this animal to sometype of conservation Where someone who is qualified might see that it get the best chance of survival. also being that it is so young you should not be handling it like that. please use some common sense. i know theyre cute but they are not a stuffed animal
he could be a good foster pet, but unless its a Domesticated Russian fox from the genetic experiment, it might not be a good pet in the long run. the Russian foxes from the experiment make WONDERFUL pets, but they are MUCH different from their wild counterparts.
I think that if its raised from birth it can be raised just like any other dog or cat at least up until they are about a year old, I say cat because even though they are related to dogs they share the same nutritional needs as cats.
m this color's normal they become lite brown at around 6 week's and become orange at around 10 week's (earlyer in some foxes) but there fur doesn't become really fluffy til around 9 month's!
also, different breeds for 1, also, its just a baby and im not sure a babies fur would alraedy have latched on to season adaptation yet, (lighter in fall and winter, dark in the summer)
Foxes r apart of the canine species but they are not house dogs. its ur matter to see if foxes make wounderful foxes. the Japanese meaning for fox is Kitsune. Okami is for Wolf.
Aw its cute. I want one but I dont thiink they sell them in vancouver.. But I dont want to tak it from its mother too. =[ Take goood care of this baby!
can i just say that as cute as they look they really arent infact there the oposite believe it or not they destroy your house and kill other pets and animls in a painful way and 9 outa 10 times dont even eat them :S
right now you seem to be the rude one. I suggest you change your attitude if you want people to take you seriously.
And the silver fox is actually considered domesticated in many places. A wolverine is not. As been suggested, that may very well be a wolverine baby but without any more information we will never know.
And yes, a fox can make an incredible pet if the owner is wise enough and has enough respect for the animal. Any animal can bite or be vicious. I fear rotties more than foxes.
i Agree with Rotties but dogs have been bred for hundreds of years to be loyal pets and were also cross bred to be the perfect dog someone wanted but foxes are wild and they are not like dogs, they are beautiful to watch up on the moors and places but they do have another side to them that somepeople dont think about or wont.
i went to a sanctuary in florida (i live in florida) um...do you know when thistook place and WHICH sanctuary it is at? i went to the bush wildlife one.
Aww, what a cutey. I woulda said Silver Fox, cause they're usually black with bits of silver/white.
My thanks go out to you, the people who rescued the little Kit, and the wildlife sanctuary :) We need more samaritans to help protect these creatures.
I know people on the sybilsden message board that actually have foxes as pets. Not recommended for a first pet though. They need a pretty large outdoor pen and they pee on everything from food bowls(with the remains still in it) and furniture. Oh and they love ripping furniture, especially leather. Check your state laws and make sure your vet will treat your fox first..
this is the cutest baby animal i have ever seen.i wish i would know a way to work with rescued animals like this one and get a good paid to live with.
So this was three weeks ago- updates! New photos would help to see if he really is a fox (my first guesses would have been a mink or maybe a badger or something, though the tail would be wrong for that). Anyways, how is he doing? How big is he know? If he is a fox, is he getting some of the red coloring behind the ears yet?
The baby grey fox was turned over to the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida. I have called to check up and he is doing just fine. He has a little girlfriend and his eyes just opened. He will be released near the sanctuary because they imprint really easy. So they will come back every night!
Wow, I really admire how you take care of that beautiful animal, and how healthy it looks! I also plan on working with animals (Mainly foxes) later when I'm older and I plan to teach people how to preserve these jewels of the Animal Kingdom. Keep working hard!

intent to imply 'full of wounds' being the ultimate end result of having a fox in the house?
