Montreal does have riders, this man is Sylvain Filion. "The Best of the Best" IMHO. Anyone else might not have handled it so well, he's from a long line of pro drivers, a great guy all round.
What I don't get is... why doesn't the racetrack have riders on horseback (like they do in Thoroughbred racing industry) waiting on the sidelines to intervene in case something like this happens?
At some tracks like Mohawk in Toronto they do have outriders incase something like this happens. I think they should have them at all the tracks, they usually help cases which could be much worse without them!
lisajlw the drivers number one job is to keep his horses reins. If you look closely there are 2 people checking his horse for any injuries and 2 checking the other horse, also there is always a vet on site. I live about a hour away from this race track and my farrier runs a horse there.
Ive been around harness racing all my life and seeing accidents like this always makes my heart stop. wolfblood11 is rite. Things couldve gotten alot worse
Sulky wheel at 0:48 that track must be made from quick sand..
