I'm a Dutchman, so I'm used to marijuana being pretty much legal. I also think that it should be fully legalized here, not to mention in every country. That way the governments can regulate it, make sure it's safe, *and* even make a profit. It's only the conservative idiots holding it back.
But fully legalizing LSD? It should definitely be regulated, but it's too dangerous for some, as it might trigger an underlying psychosis.
I don't side with Leary's opposers but what I think Timothy Leary was subconsciously doing is De-humanizing himself. He thought that we could become more than human by ingesting psychedelic drugs when in reality you are actually becoming less than human, which we were created to be. I know several people who are on drugs and they are completely different no compared to what they use to be. They have become dangerous.

I did a bit of research, and I don't think this is real. They aren't wearing masks so the head doesn't get infected with germs. Also when you think of organ transplants and how much is involved. It would really be serious business, and a lot of precations

@jbsmokesalot1 People who take drugs do it to deal with issues rather than seeking proper help. I believe that when someoe takes drugs they lose complete control over their body. I know several people who are on drugs and they are completely different no compared to what they use to be. They have become dangerous.

@SSPoseidon846 well everyone is different and and everyone reacts differently and different drugs do different thing, and some drugs are less toxic than other, if you do your research and properly educate yourself on drugs, you will understand it better, why base your entire view on drugs on a few small minded people who decided to make bad choices, and btw i am sure some people have made bad choices with lsd, but look at some of legal substances that intoxicate you, are they any better?

@skyjuiceification Leary had planned to have his head frozen by cryonics, but near the end of his death he made the choice to be cremated instead. His head was never removed. His ENTIRE body was cremated and given to friends and family. A portion of his ashes were shot into space.

IF the heads [Leary's isn't the only one] remain frozen over centuries THEN it's conceivable that with scientific advance Leary, Robert Anton Wilson's daughter Luna and others may one day wake up in the future. Truly one of the greatest influential figures in modern history. People should be able to take LSD for therapy and should legalise marijuana. Both are natural and can help many many people. Unfortunately our government is an asshole who thinks only about its own wealth and benefit, rather than the benefit of the people. Sick world we live in. I did a bit of research, and I don't think this is real. They aren't wearing masks so the head doesn't get infected with germs. Also when you think of organ transplants and how much is involved. It would really be serious business, and a lot of precations
to preserve and freeze a head. They just sort of saw it off. What about the nerve endings?

@butohbaby If you did your research on the Timothy Leary page on Wikipedia, you would have found that this is a scene from the movie, Timothy Leary's Dead, where they acted out Leary's cryogenic freezing using a dummy head. Leary changed his mind in the months before his death, and was cremated instead of frozen.

Ex:Fluoride is also a drug, and I bet you drink it with your water or take it in your toothpaste. No offense, but really, the subject is much deeper than I believe you are giving it credit for. I'm still in the dark as to what is happening here. Was it a hoax or what. Leary was a giant...anyone who can't see that needs to open their eyes. Just read The Politics of Ecstasy and discover what really made him tick. He also had a great sense humour and of the absurd and was one of the first truly fearless psychonauts. His life is a lesson in living in the moment and always searching and reaching for the unreachable. Thanks for posting this bit of strangeness.

i remember the day he died....i woke up to the radio playng...recovering from whatever it was i had taken the night before, andd the first words i remember hearing were that the good dr leary had died, and it made me very sad..luckily, i had some LSD in the night stand so i took a few tabs in his honor, and had one of the most monumental trips i have ever had, all with his legacy in mind..even though the vid is bullshit, i still remember how the world changed that day

the official story is he bowed out of the cryogenic freezing at the last minute, asking to be cremated and the decapitation sequence was simulated. creation of artificial head is shown at end of film. also, 7 grams of his remains were lauched into space in 1997. great, rare film; still worth watching.

At the end of the film is a sequence showing the creation of the artificial head used in the film. What you are seeing here is a simulation. Leary was cremated.

Man, why not, i'm not sure that the soul is situated in the brain, but i am positive on the fact that head transplantaions will be made possible in the near future.
There were already experiments in WW2, the Russians transplanted a small dogs head onto a bigger dogs body, next to his own head, and the two heads responded each in a different way to petting and they even ate differently, i guess science knows no limits.

@shizzlenoits the laws of physics cant be broken..what? when did i say anything about pot? or nixon? what I was trying to say is that it's invalid to ever say something is an "unnatural" manipulation of nature, because anything that happens in the physical universe, weather by human intervention or not, happens as the result of a natural physical process. This includes any manufacturing or synthesis. If you can tell me a situation where that's not so, I'd be interested in hearing it.

I would be more than happy to do such an interview, but only with a credited doctor so as to make it public knowledge that LSD has many psychological BENEFITS and no long term side effects. Trust me, I know plenty of folks who have been using LSD for over 30 years. None of them are insane, unsane, or awake maybe, but insane? no way.
read Drugs of Hallucination by Cohen, it gives a great account of the success of LSD psychotherapy that was conducted in the 1960's.
