As I understand it, Alexios requested military aid from the pope, in order to kick out an invasion of nomadic Turks. The crusades proper, seems to have been more of a popular uprising from Europe, I see it as a sort of group fantasy, not motivated by any real military necessity.

@LCHC1 If someone attack you what you have to do? you have to defend your self. It is common sense that what Koran and hadith said. Jew were in Madinah and did not respect agreement between them and Muslim, so what do expect if someone broke the agreement, Jew man in Madinah attacked a woman at his shop, wants to rape her.
