Viking Metal is a sub genre of Folk Metal, *not* Black Metal. It came from a black metal band, but is essentially just a more specific form of Folk Metal; about Scandinavian history and pagan culture in Scandinavia.

And Amon Amarth is not Viking Metal. That's just about as ignorant as calling Slipknot Death Metal.

i don't think that Enslaved make prog Black Metal or true vikingmetal. It's kind of avantgarde metal music like Ulver did it early before. Enslaved take parts from many genres and unite them to great music.

the vocals are definately taken from black metal, but the kind the play the guitar and drumms is different.

Listen to their newest album 'vertebrae'. No black metal, completely new elements.

I like enslaved because they change their kind of music with almost every song or album.

Viking Metal its really an invented genre, If you see Amon Amarth (Death Metal) and Enslaved (Black Metal) the "principal" Viking Metal Bands, they're really diferent one from each other, they only fall under the same Viking Metal Genre because of their lyrical themes. Viking Metal is not a real metal genre, its only a lyrical clasification. If Viking Metal was a real Genre, also Aztec Metal, Espartan Metal, Pirate Metal, Samurai Metal, etc.., etc... will also be Genres.

You're just wrong mate. Amon Amarth is said to be viking by poeple that don't know what this genre is. Enslaved has some viking elements (listen to "Havenless") but most of their songs are just black or prog.Viking Metal is Bathory, Windir or even Falkenbach. At first the genre seems to be kinda stupid cause of course vikings dont have guitars but listening to viking bands should convince you that its a really defined genre with codes, just like thrash or black.

@CatFro4 "Viking" is definied by being a sub-genre of Black Metal which adds scand. Folk-melodies. Amon is, by all means, death, not black and i haven't found any folk-elements yet. Thus, Amon is technically not a "Viking Metal"-Band - as they themselves say too (quote: "Did vikings have steel guitars? We just sing about things we like"). The lyrics actually don't matter for the (scientifical) categorization. Anyway, i think that does no harm to Amon at all ;)

C'est une piste relativement atmospherique, la "brutalité" dans cette piste ne l'est que dans la voix black de Grutle, malgré quelques "blasts".Allez voir dans leurs précédents albums voire ceux des années 90 pour entendre quelque chose de "violent".
