  • MY BALLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF WHOOOPIE! :D almost died laughing

  • Holy smokes! I did NOT realize that was Basil! Mind is FUCKED!

  • Despite the fact that I furiously disagree with you opinion on this beautiful work, I still thought you were freaking hilarious. xD

  • I gotta say, the Ponyo review was pretty damn funny, but for the 200th episode, I feel like this review, just for it's grand scale and length, not to mention the notoriety of the film, might've been a better choice.

  • When I saw this in the theatre, I suffered through what I saw as a vacuous, two-hour MTV video (back when they still played music videos). However, when I saw it again on HBO through my then-boyfriend's surround sound system, I enjoyed it. And so I watched it again and enjoyed it even more... and eventually bought the DVD.

It's not nearly as good as Kenneth Branagh's musical screenplay of Shakespeare's "Love's Labour's Lost," but I make no apologies for liking it.

  • @PhilWithCoffee aww how cute, a retarded american thiniing they ae smart becauae they know foreign words. There are bars named after animals but are they animals? america calls itself the land of the free but it isnt. P-p-p-p-p-pwwwwnnnnd

  • Moulin Rouge. The building is neither red, nor a mill. Discuss.

  • i saw this movie about a year after it came out, i had no intention of seeing it because it looked ridiculous and stupid. However my girlfriend at the time talked me into it and i sat down with a frown and watched it simply knowing i would hate it. I tried my best to hate this movie, one major reason was i thought the song remixes would be butchered and sound terrible. I was dead wrong, and even though through my first viewing i didn't love it, today id say its in my top ten favorite films.

  • This man's hate for this movie is palpable.

  • I get what the Critic is saying about people "spontaneously freezing" when he sings, but that's really the magic of musicals--that people can randomly sing n te rain or dance n the street with nobody looking twice. Sometimes, they can even join in the song. I have yet to see this particular film, but with scenes like this, it's really all about suspending your disbelief and enjoying the music. As is the case with most musicals, in fact.

  • at 4:29 that guy stole the 4th doctor's scarf

  • My aunt is in this movie.

  • 5:23 - 5:46 = What "Scott Pilgrim vs the World" felt like for me.

  • I saw this movie last year in high school choir. Everyone in my class all looked like they were having an orgasm but I hated the movie. Everything about it was crap.

  • @jocman54 I then left choir because everyone there are snobs.

  • The Nostalgia Critic should also review Baz Luhrmann's "Romeo + Juliet." It suffers from the same craptastic editing that "Moulin Rouge!" suffers from and it basically takes a shit on Shakespeare's original play. Also, I think it's from the mid-90's, so it's perfectly nostalgic.

  • At first, I wanted to turn this off when ole Douglas here was calling someone elses' work pretentious Then I wanted to turn it off when he said he didn't like Phantom of The Opera, which is probably the only good musical to come about in the last ten years. I even stayed my hand from the 'X' button when he started with his usual loud and annoying brand of humor.

Then it turned into a poorly written, sung, and performed musical that would make even Turtle Tunes look like Rocky Horror. G'bye. :D

  • I think it's a great film.

  • did he just call him "Ew a McGregor"? XD

  • I KNEW IT!!! I KNEW IN THAT SCENE THE CRITIC WOULD USE A "When Harry met Sally" REFERENCE! THANK YOU!!!!

  • A nerdy slap fight? Really? I mean, REALLY?!

  • I would have said ten seconds, but twelve whatever its short.

  • OKAY . . . seriously where I am? Cause I'm completely lost.

  • I wander what the critic does to help himself stay sane.

  • 7:08 BRENTALFLOSSS FOR THE F*CKING WIN!!! XDDDDDDDD

  • "You foo-el that's actor Richard Roxbuuurrrrrrrggh!"

    Ha Ha

  • I liked High School Musical!!!

  • but what if the jolly green giant has a small penis?

  • THATS WHY HE LOOKS SO FARMILIAR!!!! he plays Obi-wan in Episode 1. Thanx critic

  • Never seen the film, but as far as the costumes and sets, it's like candy.

  • Doug's right about this movie it's stupid, loud, cliched, annoying, and the plot is shit but every body is allowed to have a guilty pleasure do enjoy it when you can and agree with the facts but still watch the movie because you love it for example I like spiderman 3 and watchmen

  • @jvwashere2 hey watchmen was a good movie just not as good as the comic book but rarely is the movie better than the book anyways

  • @jvwashere2 awww come on

    whats wrong with watchmen

  • Hey now, this is my favorite movie.

  • richard played dracula in van helsing

  • This is, without a doubt, the best review the critic has ever done!

  • Sweeney Todd was what musical should be, dark and creepy, something straight men can enjoy, not this gay bullshit...

  • @nahor88 what about mary poppins?

  • @nahor88 so musicals should be about murder, cannibalism, and revenge?

  • 13:32

    where's that music from?

  • "Whoa! My balls are alive with the sound of WHOOPEEEEEE!!!!"

    LoL

  • 5:24 The Nostalgia Critic: As told by RubberFruit.

  • Disagree with NC. I loved Moulin Rouge. It's a musical so it already has limited appeal, but it's a chaotic, loud, had great musical numbers, and visually beautiful.

  • THUMBS UP FOR BRENTALFLOSS!!!

  • I swear upon the Holy Bible, I paused the movie at the mention of the midget nun, motioned my hands in a 'STOP!' motion, and said "WHOA, WHOA! HOLD ON!! WTF am I watching?!?!"

  • uan mcgregor?? XD i'm pretty sure its pronounced "you-an" XDD you know, i was planning on watching this movie, but after watching this review, i don't know...

  • this is the first time that i find NC moron. Well, there is no arguments, just because its a comedy and its about love and music, he sad that he don't like them loving, laughing each other, and about music... well its just amazing and beautiful as the movie is. So just sit, enjoy and don't think about anything

  • @6warsaw

That's the exact same approach I use to get through the Star Wars prequils! Well, that and healthy doses of barbiturates (which I'm guessing Rouge's director had sworn off).

  • My name is christian, I'm a writer & lost a girl I loved in recent years. I find this movie incredibly offensive!!!!! Lol

  • This movie is one of those things that got good reviews for some reason, then the general public was too stupid to disagree with it.

  • My balls are alive with the sound of 'WHOOPEE!!'

  • i usually watch this movie just to watch the music numbers. that and to stare at Ewan McGregor xP

  • They forgot "M" from "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen".

  • I watched this movie for the first time over the past few days and I have to disagree with Doug. I LOVE it. It's kooky, it's weird, it stars Sid from Ice Age (John Liguazamo) it's brilliant

  • I love how she is pretending to be REALLY sexually excited, because it is soo hilariously overacted!

  • I was trapped on a bus with the College Choir as we traveled home from concert.....3 hours....I was forced to watch this.....I needed to do something violent and couldn't do anything...Even my evil mind couldn't come up with anything while on the bus....so I did the resourceful when I got home....I played video games till 4 in the morning....and slept for a couple of hours...just to get the evil of this movie out of my mind.

  • I like that movie! its like a christmas film!

  • I was so surprised Brentalfloss was involved. Of all possible crossovers, this was a pleasant surprise.

  • he lives in chicago?!?!?

  • i wonder what all those pages say

  • Best CrossOver EVER!!

  • .... Brentalfloss and the critic.... Together! My mind just can't handle it

  • Never watched this movie. All I remember about it was that everyone was butchering the lines "Voulez-vous cochez avec moi ce soir" from Lady Marmalade when it came out because no one actually knew French. Instead, you had people walking up to you and going "Voo-vay-voo koosay avek mwa seh swa?" and it got really irritating really fast XD

  • @EnigmaDrath That song isn't even really anywhere in the movie so your argument is invalid.

  • @XIXKiraXIX

Hmm, then what's that I hear in the background at 6:45? Oh yeah, Lady Marmalade. Also, the "official" song was on the movie's soundtrack.

Also, I wasn't making an argument; merely recollecting.

God, you really suck at correcting people, don't you?

  • @EnigmaDrath Haha, you too? I remember scolding someone singing that (a friend, obviously) for their horrible French pronunciation Glad I'm not the only one irritated by that.

  • "Who in their right mind would actually enjoy this?"

    -raises hand- XD

  • I watched 05:25 to 05:45 like 20 times in a row. It never gets old.

  • ''do you have an albert in a can''?

  • Drwarf, cross dressers and Obi Wan in lederhosen.

  • hi brentalfloss.

  • Glad I'm not the only person who extremely detests this movie. This first time I watched I turned if off in 20 minutes. I was utterly annoyed by the first minute. How this film got Oscar nominations for Best Picture and Best Leading Actress is beyond me.

  • @lightingcobra WORD. I really hope that Baz Luhrmann isn't the be-all-end-all of Australian cinema that the critics make him out to be.

  • @neosoc Yea that would be a disgrace to the entire world of cinema

  • Intresting how he reviewed this movie when it's the number one movie that he hates that everyone else seems to love. also I have to admit Burlesque is kind of one of my guilty pleasures and Hairspray is one of those movies that I hate that everyone else seems to love.

  • 12:04 LMFAO!

  • 05:25 LOL!

  • Moulin Rouge means red mill.

  • Howdidhwhodiwhaaaaa???? When did brentalfloss get in here?! Thats fuckin awesome!

  • Is the bum holding a wiimote in the begining and ending?

  • @FeNiXwOnG951 no its his cup with change :P

  • I want this episode on DVD.

  • 14:12 HEY! I liked that movie. >.>

  • ....that writer's a fucking idiot.

  • 6:00 almost 5 seconds

  • 5:23 is one of his funniest jokes yet.

  • Brentalfloss!!!

  • When he gives the example of what it would be like if his reviews were like that reminded me vaguely of the Fred videos.

  • it cost 400,000 dollars to have a silent moment for 12 seconds. 9:28

  • @kingoftheworld4ever1 WHO TOUCH MY GUN, I JUST DONT LIKE PEOPLE TOUCHING MY GUN

  • I mentioned it gave us mamma mia and the fame remake but it also gave us the most god awful and horrendous of them all: paris hilton's "repo! the genetic opera"

EW!!! I just shudder when I here that name! both the movie and person

how could paw on the TGWTG team like that movie?

  • At 05:24 I Wish You Did Reviews Like That

  • Somebody really should have told Doug Ewan McGregor's name is pronounced 'Yoo-un' instead of 'Oo-an'.

  • Screw you critic!!!! How dare you insult Phantom of the Opera!!! Hilarious review though XD

  • 05:24 this is what his anime would be like.

  • Key change mofo! U ROCK BRENTALFLOSS! =D

  • 5:24 LOL!

  • Hairspray! :D

    ...Don't judge me...

  • I actually quite like this film, probly gunna get slaughtered for that but it's not a film u can look at seriously, just have fun :D

  • @billytheafroman Don't worry. I also really love this film.

  • Comment removed

  • Wait a minute...I liked Phantom of the Opera...

  • I actually want to watch this movie now because of how it seems like the "so bad its hillarious" type of movieXD

  • I lost my shit at the IT cameo

  • 5:41, but that bit managed to make it to the 5th second

  • Hey its Obi-wan :3

  • My mother walked in on 12:24

I got one hell of a funny look. Still trying to explain here.

  • XD I love bum at the begining

  • 5:00 - 5:18

I could use that counter gag when counting how many movie premieres, autograph signings, big celeb parties, red carpet events, etc. that Bella Thorne (and Zendaya, maybe) attended.

  • he forgot to mention it gave us other crappy musicals like: "mamma mia" and that shitty remake of "fame"

  • brentallfoss knows the NC my life is complete

  • "Who in there right mind would actually enjoy this?"

My Drama teacher. And there are times that I'm not quite sure if she is in a right mind. Nice lady, but still.

  • It's fuuuuuun

  • Ask me what it means, ask me what it means!

  • @tgunkijan Be disturbed

  • Damn, I really wanted to buy, or at least bid for the script for this review from the charity auction, but someone's already bidded over $200 of it. One of the best reviews btw

  • Oh, to watch this film or not to watch this film.

  • Man this is in my opinion one of the BEST nostalgia critic reviews EVER. 8)

  • this has been one of my favourite episodes

  • 12:52 yes! Five whole seconds!!!

  • 9:42 they were so close to five seconds!

  • 13:42-14:13 IMAO

  • Brentalfloss and the Nostalgia Critic are in the same video

    All arguments are now invalid

  • Brentafloss's impression of Zidler is BRILLIANT!

  • who is he directing?... a lot of empty seats?

  • I ended up renting this movie thanks to this review xD

  • BRENTALFLOSS & NOSTALGIA CRITIC IN THE SAME VID. OMG

  • Tarzan! I knew he would appear in more reviews! XD

  • "The woman I loved is...Dad" That's how I heard it! XD

  • @gritapuertorico The Avenger??? U know, that ass-sucking James Bond like movie.

  • @gritapuertorico "my mom is dad!"

  • I'm sorry...but did that guy just come out of a sign on a building?

  • Thanks for the upload, one of my favorites.

  • You know, for a movie that 'sucked so much' you dedicated 3 videos on it.

  • @DanaKMulderScullyXF Is actually 1 but for Youtube the guy who uploaded the video (who is not the Nostalgia Critic) put it on 3.

  • @DanaKMulderScullyXF Well logically if someone doesnt like a movie and has alot to say about it, then there would be more videos about it. Like that is a pretty illogical cause and effect you "cleverly" implied.

  • @antisadism Well, what I meant was, as much as he didn't like it he made well worth over 30 minutes of material [skits, music, video] for his vid from something he 'hated' and said was un-creative and overly done. I guess the movie did serve him for something in the end...he pretty much paid a tribute...I wouldn't render so much attention to something I 'hate'.

  • @DanaKMulderScullyXF Well did you see the end of the review? That was kind of the point, I mean its not like he watches the first 30 minutes of the movie and then reviews it, neither should you watch the first video of HIS review and criticize it.

Because its hard to believe you would make a comment like this even after you've seen the end of his review. Which is why Im wondering wether you saw the whole thing or not. I dont need you to watch the whole thing, just the end of the review.

  • @antisadism Fiesty, I see. I DID see the whole review btw, like I watch all his other movie reviews. God Forbid, I make an ambiguous comment without a smiley face to portray my sarcasm and people get rattled up! :'D I was commenting as I watched by the way. Funny, there are other comments that have worse things written on them and BAM, mine is apparently the most offensive.

  • @DanaKMulderScullyXF What? I was asking did you see it or not. A simple "yes" would have good, idk where that other stuff came from.

Anyways, if you did, then you must have seen the guilty pleasure song? I mean that song should have defined what the whole review was about,

  • @antisadism LOL Yes I heard the song, and yes, yes it does. Although, I wouldn't call this a guilty pleasure movie though, It was just plain good...and I don't even like romance films :'D but that's an opinion.

  • @DanaKMulderScullyXF So then if you understood what was up with your first comment?

  • @antisadism That's what I explained 2 comments before this one: I was commenting as I watched. Obviously I saw part 1 first, and so on and so forth. I was just a random thought that came into my mind after having finished the first part...like an out-loud comment, if you may. Then I watched the other 2. It was neither a critic or a praise...just a random thought.

  • Really great review, damn funny well plus....Brentalfloss! :D

  • Still love this movie though..lmao

  • BRENTALFLOSS!!!!

  • What if Moulin Rouge...had lyrics?

  • I'm suprised they didn't mention this movie had that British actor that seems to be in every movie but nobody remembers his name (AKA Jim Broadbent).

  • @CoolerKing37 Me to, I was waiting for them to mention him. Since Nostalgia Critic has said it I have noticed that he is in everything

  • @CoolerKing37 Yeah. Btw, how hard of a name is that to rememeber? And secondly, if the Critic watches as many movies as he does, how come HE can't remember his name? I mean, when you get down to it, it doesn't make that much sense.

  • @CoolerKing37 YOU KNOW NOT WHAT YOU DO IN SAYING HIS NAME

  • so when do i get to bang out that chick?

  • NC should review momma mia that shit was just stupid

  • Umm, maybe he doesn't like this movie, because he's not a girl or Gay. lol.

  • 05:24-05:45 must be the funniest scene I ever seen with Nostalgia critic.

  • is nostalgia chick the nostalgia critic's wife, if so he is a lucky man

  • @bojanks15 he already has a girlfriend :P

  • I love how he did a cross over with Brentalfloss XD

  • Hey, I just figured out the guy who runs the bordello is none other than That British Guy Who Appears In Everything But You Never Take The Time To Find Out What His Name Is
