  • taxes are like insurance! You pay your insurance and you get your benefits, you pay your taxes and you get your benefits! The next time you drive on a highway and yap about your taxes thank the gods that you have that road to drive on and if you have tax loops then good for you I hope you hit a pothole!

  • Taxation is simply another word for extortion, when the individuals committing the act work for an organization called "government".

  • Is that Alex liefson with a beard?

  • Social welfare on our Backs?? how about the 400 billion the Government has already payed illegally, to foreign banks. And you want to blame social welfare (the weakest poorest people around) for the problems of the country. You have be the lowest of the low to drop this crap on the feet of our poor.

  • CRA is gay

  • What a piece of shit party.

  • I have not been able to find any documents to support the common "myth" that Paul quotes "income taxes were originally intended to be temporary".

Does anyone have any proof of this?

I have read many documents and none have supported this opinion.

    Thank you.

  • Involuntary servitude and other types of slavery are illegal in Canada. I am here because God put me here, not because of some act of the Federal Government. Therefore, the government does not own me or my labour !

  • Its funny that the progressive nature of canadian taxes is lambasted in this peice. This is probably the only positive aspect to our current system of taxation.

  • @Keinlicht Yeah, I was thinking the same bloody thing!

If the gov'ts (federal, provincial, civil) are so addicted to taxes, then they should extort them from those who ACTUALLY have the money to pay them!

Maybe, just MAYBE, if the rich were taxed appropriately, then they might actually put pressure on the gov'ts to be more fiscally responsible!

It is my impression that the rich are constantly petitioning the fed to give them more breaks...but I want to ask them...HOW MUCH SECURITY IS ENOUGH?!!

  • The year 2035 presents many new operatunitys and chalenges for the citizens of Canada. The .47% income tax increase is one of the lowest for over a decade. However a 100.47% tax rate will present some very unique chalenges.

  • We all pay taxes here in Canada, a lot of them. It's depressing how little of each dollar we can actually put towards our baskets of goods. In addition to regressive sales tax, each year we get the opportunity to voluntarily and enthousiastically pay our income taxes. Why do our income tax returns not give us the option of opting out of services we go not want or dissagree with?

  • My understanding is the Government of Canada was challenged in court and they were given 7 years to stop charging the illegal tax. From there the provinces were used to create the tax loop. Is this true, how can I confirm it? I am interested in our tax laws and minimizing tax payments for Canadians.

  • NO TAXATION WITHOUT CLARIFICATION

  • No wonder these guys are no politacal contenders!! They are ill informed and are propogating garbage. Saying that Ontario did not have income taxes until 1969 is simply not true, and is a stupid statement in and of itself!! (Perhaps he is confused about federal income taxes and provincial imposed taxes, eh?)

  • that freedom party didn't last long now did it?

  • Canada, I'm going out of the country for one year. is there a problem if I pay 2010 taxes in 2011? I have a tax credit due to school fees.

  • That's great! Do away with taxation and do away with that burgeoning bureaucracy called the CRA and we'll all live happily everafter! Sounds great, right?

I think not! And, the excise taxes couldn't begin to pay for what we've all come to expect! I kind of agree with Amanda Lang when she says, "I like to drive on paved roads that you very much!"

  • Hmm... canada instituted income tax only 3 years after the US formed the federal reserve act...wonder if thats a coincidence....

  • CRA has over 45,000 employees, that's more than our army, Talk about expensive, eh!

  • crash the system . c o m

  • The Goverment owns your ID and CONTROLLS the fiction that is attached to the id cards Tittle, You own nothing that is attached to this fictional contract and only have ltd charter rights.

a NATURAL MAN is not owned and therefore is not a tax slave, Human rights apply only in this jurisdiction.

  • sparewood apple sounds like a troll

  • The average human brain weighs 3 pounds and this is the very best you could come up?

  • read your constitution. observe the corruption of our leaders. in that light i thinks its all i need to say.

  • In the sense that one has a right to a fair trial, a "judge" appointed by a party in the disagreement should be nix, this shows a problem with the whole thing.

If this "judge" have not signed an oath stating he will work independently and guarantee a neutral and fair judgement, it is even worse; and have he/she then any right to pose as judge?

  • Dont believe a word of what this moran says. The primeminister of canada cannot unilateralty change any law in the country of Canada. It takes an act of parliament to make any law a law in Canada. Its extortion plan and simple.

  • The B.N.A. act of 1867 says. The federal gov. has NO right to collect any tax on the canadian people. The provinces are the only ones allowed to collect any tax. In factits the greatest fraud perpetrated on the canadian people in the history of the country. In fact there is no parliamentary law that says we have to pay. Parliament cant even pass a law to do so because it is unconsitutional. We have been ripped-off by our own gov.

  • Taking income tax from workers in Canada is illegal. Income tax was an agreement that was to last for the duration of world war one and then was to end. Legally you don't have to pay it, but they will harass & intimidate you to death. You can not go to jail!!!

  • @runrunawaynow DO you pay income tax?

  • @runrunawaynow Don't forget to mention, income taxing was created to tax the profits of big business and corporations. It IS unconstitutional to tax labor (what are we slaves?!), it should only be applied to taxing the profits made through financial gains of sold products!

Sadly people these days are either too lazy or stupid (most likely both) to educate themselves. Rather they rely on the establishment to keep them informed, and trust them that they are telling you the truth.

  • Where does the Income tax money go?

    How is it used?

  • our income tax money goes directly back to PRIVATE banks to pay back interest on our money borrowed by our government. This is our money we borrow back from a PRIVATE bank (read Bank of Canada) with huge interest that our taxes pay for.You can thank Mr Pierre Elliot Trudeau for that one he privatized the bank of Canada during his tenure and we have had rampant debt ever since.Read up on this, it's disgusting and we re getting screwed as are most countries with these private banking consortium's

  • Bank of Canada is not a private bank..it is Crown corporation owned by the government...your probal thing of the feseral reserve in the states

  • Trudeau handed the crown run Bank of Canada over to private bankers in the early 70's, it is a private for profit entity now. Any labels that remain are just smoke and mirrors

  • @richardp14 bank of canada share's held in trust by minister of finance for the...get this....for the queen. that's the canada bank act. and yes , its run just like the federal reserve. fractional reserve banking. every dollar in circulation is debt. you think were special or something?

  • Most of it goes to pay off the debt to the private currency issuer, at an interest even.

    It is a downward spiral.

  • The only way to get our rights back in Canada/US is an old fashion revolution. We need to stand up and burn those bastards to the ground.. Too bad people are soo medicated and occupied to give a shit. 75% of Canada thinks we live in a fair and free country...out of the 25% who know whats going on, only 1% have the balls to do anything about it... And they'll just be labeled "TERRORISTS" ooooohhhhh!!...(ghost like noises)....

  • @khimosaubi

yep, very unfortunately but you are 1000% correct!!

  • @khimosaubi i agree 100%

  • @khimosaubi it is illegal to talk this way in canada or talk about overthrow on a space station or space ship sound crazy look it up its canadian law but if it was legal i would probly agree

  • @historyisstrange Meh.. Illegal.. Come get me mounties.. Thats the reason why nothing will change.. Its even illegal to sit around and talk about how bad we are getting fucked... Sheep are the ones who care if it is illegal to talk about freedom from the corporate bondage via taxes and laws that only benefit them. Until the sheep say enough is enough, shit will never change..

  • Do Canadians have to pay income tax? Is it a law?

If not how can we stop them from taking our money from our bi-weekly checks?

  • Canadians do have to pay an income tax regardless if there is a law or not... I just went to do my taxes today at H&R Block.. I made 27.5K and they deducted 4.2K from me for the year. Out of the 4.2K, I got $192.76. H&R Block took $26.33 for processing it, So I was left with 166.43...

THEY TOOK 4.2K AND ALL I GOT WAS 166.43!!! Bastards took over 4k from me... We have no say about it, they just take it... So unless you work under the table, you may as well bend over and take the shaft!!

  • Yeah I guess those roads used to get to H&R block were built and managed by people who work for free.....hot to mention all those schools, hospitals,etc.....all cost nothing to run and build. Yeah and you accuse others of living in la la land.

  • LOL... Thats the lies that they tell you.. Did you know that they managed fine long before the income tax.. It was implemented to pay for the war but when they seen that they were making sooo much money, they decided to keep it in place. So by your standards my money pays for roads and city employees, plus schools and hospitals.. Its also pays to send space shuttles into space as well as satalites. Oh and did I forget Afghanstan? Lots of money to kill them.. My money....

  • Lol the lies you tell me. I love Canada, but unfortunatley this nation has morons like yourself. You expect me to believe you in that you are somehow enlightened. Odd as you cannot even form one gramatically correct sentence. Grammer and reading comprehension are related.

  • Hmmm... What about Unemployment insurance?? Im 22 years old, been working since I was 13. Have never needed to claim E.I. I switched jobs and was unemployed for a month. Got a new job making almost twice as much as the old. (15/hr to 27/hr). I filed a claim for unemployment. They declinded me.. I had over 1000 hours(more then needed). They said that I could have kept my old job... Tell me that this is fair?? And I have no choice but to pay into E.I. Only get it on their terms

  • Yeah and I am supposed to take your word in regards to E.I. perhaps you believe in the idea of blind faith, but I don't. There are two sides to each story and I am curious to hear EI's side as there are descrepancies in your story. Furthermore I am less likely to believe someone who runs around the internet portraying himself as a victim at every chance he can get. I lived in Gui Zhou province in China in the 70's I can promise you your life here was a cake

  • walk compared to my life back in China. I made something of myself....you spend your days sulking.

  • Gas taxes pay for for the roads.

I'm sure income tax deductions go to a variety of things, but if you don't think private bankers have us by the balls, you really need to understand our monetary system

If money is created by a private bank, and loaned to us (Crown) with interest, it is impossible to pay that money back. The simple math doesn't add up for this small example.

Factor in fractional reserve banking, with interest, and everyone is in debt to private bankers. This is robbery!

  • Actually aside from a mortage the bank is only a place where my money is stored and nothing. Car, furniture, vacations etc are paid for by cash. It is amazing what a litte hard work and patience can do to ones financial situation. Born Canadians should stop stuffing ugly fat asses with double whoppers make something of themselves.

  • @GtheMVP You the man!.. I agree 100%.. Wish people would stop thinking of the government as fair...

  • What law says the people have to give up 35% of their income? Income tax is the biggest fraud in our countries history. We have been ripped-off. Not 1 cent goes to paying our debt. It all goes to the banks.

  • No taxes until WW1? Wow, I had no idea. I don't think even the U.S. has had anything like that.

  • The US amended its constitution to include a federal income tax in 1913. Most US states impose a separate state income tax as well.

  • THat was never put into law though. THere is no official law that states a U.S. citizen hs to pay income taxes to the federal government.

  • USC Section 1, Sections 61, 64, Sections 6012, Sections 6151, Section 6072. Title 26, ... on and the Internal Revenue Code, is law btw

  • No income taxes. Canada funded the federal government primarily with excises (import/export) taxes, if I recall correctly.

  • @Sarrisan98 also crown corporation

  • Hahah. When that guy called in, I thought, "oh, the perfect question for PM!" And it was :D Nice answer.

  • Boom. You hit the nail there, Paul! :-)

  • Sadly, yes.
