  • thats why they say they names it geforce 5200FX

  • they say that the rampage is a geforce 5200 and copied when 3dfx was bought out

  • @PsiloCybinDreamX i heard the same rumors!

  • @surfelixe im pretty sure its true

  • Is that a custom Q3A map or something at 2:40? If so where can I get it?

  • @rottentreats01 yes it is! is a mod but i dont remember which one!=( i dont play now q3 for a awhile!

  • Got a Voofoo 5500 my self... Hail to the king baby.

  • hail 3dfx

  • Nvidia did more then they had too, they bought technology that was alreay going obsolete (Rampage took too long to develope) and they ALSO offered trade ins for Voodoo cards.

They also gave jobs to the Voodoo team, which had really bad habits from Voodoo.

Nvidia could have just ignored Voodoo, which is what I would have done if I was CEO of Nvidia.

It was a horribly mis managed company.

Especially the luxurious spending. Nothing surprising for Corporate America.

  • Well, at least they were able to bring cost effective 3D solutions to consumers, though they failed in light of competition.

    Mistakes

1 - STB purchase, alienated OEMs.

2 - Insisted on manufacturuing in Mexico, quality was unacceptable to OEMs.

    3 - Over priced.

4 - Extravigant spening on luxury.

Worst decision a technology company can make ! They hired a marketing person to run the company. Marketing and accounting people dont belong as CEOs of tech firms.

  • "they COULD have provided support though if they had wanted to. infact it was discussed between management, and nvidia refused. "

This is correct, NVIDIA wanted nothing to do with support for 3dfx boards.

  • LOL 3DFX went bankrupt Nvidia legally can't provide 3DFX product drivers :P They own 3DFX intellectual property, that's all.

  • What is the driver support on the Rampage like? LOL

  • i think there is a driver

support for the 3dfx rampage! there is drivers for 3dfx voodoo 5 6000 AGP

  • I'm sure it's buggy as hell, it would be alpha stage code considering the Rampage never made it to retail.

  • 3dfx is the best gc company EVER and the voodoo gpu is so amazing i meen you wouldnt see a modern card of to day like an 8800 rendering games in 8/10 years time thats prity much the same as a voodo 2 running doom 3 thats owt of thes world lol

  • yeah voodoo 2 can run doom 3 =)
