  • I have never seen something like that?

  • Hello.

I have watched all your video's and still cant see how this works. I have built many DYI Turbine Engines and this is a first. It is very well built but how does it work?

Keep up the great work. David

  • unlike most turbine projects like yours, this is a test rig for a masters project in which we had to drive the Allison 250 compressor up to it's operating speed of 51000 rpm. We will then study the airflow within the compressor. The Ford v10 gave us the 300hp required to drive it and the custom gear boxes in between.

  • The Allison 250 C-18, which is the civilian T-63 has a design compressor speed of 51,900 rpm.

Are you showing the driven speed of 36,300 rpm for a particular reason, or is that the maximum speed the piston engine can turn it?

  • This was just one of the initial shake down runs. We did eventually run the compressor at it's rated 51,900 rpm. Piston engine speed was about 4500 rpm.

  • Hey Marc - I checked out a bunch of your other videos. I didn't know you were a Z guy! My baby is a 350Z.

  • That is so cool! It's great to see it up and running! Looks like you guys did a great job on the rig setup.
