One thing i suggest is restorative justice so that those who caused this can and should give back to society.

I will pray for all these things including those who were involved in the riots. Prayer can do much more than we can ever think or know. After prayer action where we can.

One of the practical things folks can do is to become a Street Pastor, getting out and about and meeting folks in the street including shop keepers, bar owners, law abiding citizens and folks who have had too much to drink etc.

Prayer worked so well for Rick Perry, the governor of Texas in the United States. Maybe you should just start praying to not have to pray again so you can rid yourself of this silly nonsense.

Donate if you care. Pray if you want a self-righteous feeling of doing something good while achieving absolutely nothing.

True. You should donate and help with the clean up operations if opportunity allows. However that does not preclude those who believe from praying as well as getting involved in more practical ways. Leave people to their belief as you have a right to your disbelief. It doesn't worsen the situation if someone wishes to pray about it. There are many out there neither praying nor involved in practical operations. Just sitting at the sidelines murmuring i.e. doing nothing. I know which I'd prefer..

Pete has it right - so wonderful they're cleaning up now on the ground and helping and we can respond prayerfull - for people affected - 1 shop keepers, those frightenes, those in jail and affected families 2 police, govenment, parliament leaders and 3 pray for pastors caring for those on the ground long after emergency gone caring for these people. Brilliant.

I do though think your request to pray for pastors highlights why this mess is how it is. I believe in the priesthood of all believers. For tens/hundreds of years we've left it to a select few. Those that have been to Bible college for a few years, who've written a book, who can play guitar and sing, those that stand at the front and tell us what to do. Because of this we haven't been the yeast, the salt, the light. Please pray that the Church will wake up!
