aww thanks! ^^ And sort of. I think. (lol) I point a lot (like pointed to where I want her to jump and she does it). Or I do a wave for her to come to me. Is that what you mean by sign language?
I did teach her how to give me her paw. Whenever someone comes over and she does it they get a real kick out of it!
Actual signs. My cat responded to ASL (American Sign Language). We taught him "No" "Food" "Come" - which is a hand motion in the direction - he knew my mom by our sign for her. Those were the key ones.
"No" is epecially a good one, for behaviour issues. They can't respond to a stern tone of voice so when they're doing something naughty (ripping up the couch) you stamp the floor to get their attention and sign "No". If you have to, do the nose bonk and they'll realize that bad behaviour is associated with not only a nose bonk but a sign for no, just as a hearing cat would associate a nose bonk with a stern tone of voice and the word no being told to them.
funny because I STILL talk to her even though she can't hear me. lol
If she does something wrong I usually just nudge her lightly away from whatever she is doing and do a little finger shake in her face. She seems to get it.
Hahaha, I did with mine too. :) That works just fine, it sounds like. Well done on not being a deafophobe... deaf cats are just a little different, is all. :)
Your mentioning of the pointing and paw-giving is pretty much a sign language. It's the cat learning gestures instead of voice cues. :). Sounds like you've done a great job :D
see that huge dog... the cat doesn't even flinch as she knows she is superior...

What a beautiful cat! Did you teach her sign language? We did that with ours. They respond quite well!
She looks exactly like my old one. :D. So gorgeous.

Meeka sure seems unsure of snow, but she is adorable. Nice to see Zoey watching out for her. :)
