Zhang Yimou - HERO - color moments

In the film, the protaganist tells his story, which, as described by the king, "full of passion." Thus the motif color is red, representing passion, anger, and love.

The second interpretation is the king's perspective. We notice that the characters in the blue scene tends to be still, hard, and cold. This shows us the king's character and the way he see others, especially his enemies.

Finally, the truth. All characters in the scene wear white, and that white motif represents the truth.
