One hot minute had some good funk tracks without him. and John was the reason they drifted away from funk. on By the Way, he was the one who influenced them to go in such a rock direction, so much that Flea was thinking about leaving the band in the period. So just because Josh is their guitarist doesn't mean they cant make some good music.
