Hi emac 2299 can you please help me. When i open red snow and load the firm ware file the part where it says waiting for reboot gets stuck and never loads what can i do.
I got additional problem with this jailbreak. Everything works fine until i my cable is plugged in. RedSn0w wants the iphone to restart but it doenst, i tried to restart it manual but then i just get the redsn0w to not responding. Could you please help me with this problem?

Mine is screwed too! I did this exactly but after the pineapple guy it went to a black screen and now it won't do anything at all. Literally nothing except go white during the apple recovery but then gets error 1601 . Does anyone have a fix for this? 3gs and it had 2/.
Sorry forget about that message below ive put blackrain on but when i downloaded the game nes emulater from cydia it told me to reboot my iphone and when i did it came back on with the connect to itunes symbol so i connected it to itunes which then made me restore back to normal iphone full system restore is that normal mate?
Hi emac thanks 4 your help ive been reading through previous problems on this page and i have the same problem, i have a new 3gs running 3.1.2 when i load redsnow browse for your 3.0 file u gave us in the info section it finds it and redsnow completes saying done press finish but my iphone gets stuck with blank screen and backlight on and never gets to pineapple bit. so ive run itunes and press shift restore with your 3.0 firmware but it doesn't work and says the device isn't eligable.
Yes obviously Redsnow is going to say that because it only recognizes 3.0 and 3.0.1 firmware files. Please read the heading of this video. Redsnow will not take 3.1.2 file. So please download appropriate firmware for your device from my links given on right side of written description. Then do this. Feel free to ask.

Just go ahead and buy the one that is only Jailbroken. You can Unlock it yourself once you receive it through many tutorials on youtube. If you need any of my assistance, I will be here.
There is no difference at all. Its just an injection vector that is inserted after we Unlock and thats it . Other than thant it is same. And Yes, you can upgrade it through ITunes. But one thing very very important is that new Iphone 3gs after Jailbreaking will act as a tethered Jailbreak. Meaning everytime you reboot your Iphone 3gS , it will show you Itunes logo and USB logo so you have to run Blackrain from your computer to open it. Details are written in my new Jailbreak video. When you face this issue, you have to restore your Iphone again from Itunes to 3.0 and then Jailbreak it with Redsnow. Also there is another easy way. There is a new "Blackrain" jailbreak out that can jailbreak and Unlock your iphone3g and 3gS on the latest firmwares 3.1 and 3.1.2. Than Jailbreak method is far way easier than this. Pwnagetool is for mac. In this video Redsnow is used to Jailbreak. And yes redsnow instructions changes automatically according to your iPhone. It will be different for 3gs and 3g.

iPhone 3gS with AT&T 2year contract will cost $200. But without contract will cost you $600-$700. Please note that all iPhones only work with GSM Network. No other networks are recognised by it. This time if you are buying an iPhone 3gS , please you have to make sure if it's running on 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware. If YES, then buy it because this can be Jailbroken & Unlocked. And those iPhone 3gS that have 3.1 & 3.1.2 Firmware can only be Jailbroken. Please read this again If you don't understand.

Oh no, friend, If you have an Iphone 3gS running on 3.1 then this video is not for you. If you are at 3.1 firmware then you can simply Jailbreak your Iphone through "blacrain" Jailbreak method. You can view this Blackrain Jaibreak method on my channel.

Just hold home and power button together for few seconds till iPhone shuts off completely. Don't hold it too long that it turns in again. Now again run Redsnow. If same thing happens then go to Itunes and restore your iPhone to 3.0 firmware again and then jailbreak it with redsnow. Just stay away from 3.1 or 3.1.2 firmwares.
Connect tour device to your computer and right click on your iPhone name inside iTunes. You will see "backup" option. So backup and then repeat the same process and next time choose "restore from backup". Done.
If u have jailbroken apps downloaded from your computer or installous on iPod then it will be backed up too. Just turn on 'iTunes sync' option in your installous settings in your iPod. Then sync it and if iTunes pops a message then press 'transfer'. Once you have your jailbroken apps in your iTunes then it's safe. And if you downloaded anything from cydia then u have to reinstall them again. But I am assuming everything should go fine while jailbreaking & you don't even have to do all above.
Please backup and sync all your data before running redsnow. If jailbreaking goes successful then you will have all your apps and music. You will not loose it.

No worries friend, this has been a very very common issue with many many users. First of all please make sure that you have correct firmware for your device that you are browsing in Redsnow. Secondly if it gets stuck then hold home and power button together for few seconds till iPhone reboots. Restore it from iTunes by pressing shift + restore button and put 3.0 firmware(DO NOT update to 3.1 or above).After restoring make it new device, then run Redsnow.Use my 3.0 file to restore and toJailbreak
Please do it on a different computer. I am starting to believe it's your computer, not your iPhone. And now If your screen is black , you have to hold home and power button together for few seconds till your iPhone shuts off. Don't press it too long that it reboots again. Then run Redsnow again. And please as I said try it on a different computer.
the thing is it didnt even jailbreak my phone and it wont restore or anything its just stuck with the picture of the itunes and the usb cable and the slide to help im in tears and i sont know what to do!!
NOt to worry, Now you see Itunes logo and USB logo on your Iphone, so simply Run Redsnow 0.8 at this time. This Redsnow 0.8 will Hactivate your Iphone and will open your Iphone in normal mode. Once you are in normal mode then you have to put Ultrasnow source in Cydia to Unlock. ANd done.
This method is a little different than Purple rain. I would suggest to restore your Iphone from Itunes before Jailbreaking. But please be very very alert. DO NOT hit "restore" button in Itunes to restore. Because doing so will take you to 3.1 FIrmware and you will loose your Unlock. So always press Shift key on Keyboard + Restore button and update to 3.0 Firmware. Once you have done that then Follow this video. All you need is Redsnow 0.8 and 3.0 Firmware file for your Device. Feel free to ask.
ONe more thing , if you are in Restore mode now, so press and hold home and power button for few seconds till your IPhone reboot. Once its booted then go to Itunes and do shift + restore thing and locate to 3.0 file and then Jailbreak it using Redsnow. ALso make sure that you have correct 3.0 file for your device. Download it from the link on right.
Go to iTunes in applications section and check mark on all your cracked apps. Before anything happens iTunes usually pops up a message before deleting cracked apps. So try to cancel that option. You will be all set.
It's in the description on right side where it says "more info". Just make sure to open Internet Explorer to download my ipsw file and save it on your desktop. Then locate it in redsnow.

This has been a common issue. Just restore your iPhone again from iTunes to 3.0 by doing shift + restore thing and then jailbreak it You will be all set.
so before I go on and start redsnow is the iphone 3GS supposed to be in 3.0 firmaware or can it be left in the 3.1 and then redsnow will put it in 3.0??
If u are running 3.1 firmware in your iPhone 3gS then it cannot be jailbroken yet. So have to be on 3.0 or 3.0.1 in iPhone 3gS to jailbreak it with redsnow and put in 3.0 file in it.

No worries friend. You will always be able to unlock your iPhone anytime if u remain on 3.0 or 3.0.1.
Just don't let Apple to seduce u to drink 3.1 poison, because if u did then your iPhone will no longer be an iPhone. It will be an iPod only. So you are safe as long as you stay away from 3.1 firmware.
Oh allright so u have iPhone 3gS. Well the jailbreak for iPhone 3gs on 3.1 is still not released yet. The tools to jailbreak have been prepared but still some more tests yet to be made. So please wait for few more days as we will hear soon on iPhone 3gS 3.1 jailbreak. Will keep u updated.
If you accidently updted to 3.1 then there is no point in going back because even if you go back to 3.0 you will have NO SERVICE. So stay at 3.1. And update your Itunes to lates version 9.0.1 and also update carrier settings. Now you can have MMS on it, just released 1 hour ago and if you want to jailbreak then some people have made UNOFFICIAL videos on youtube to jailbreak 3.1 by custom restore file. YOu can do that if you want to jailbreak 3.1. Feel free to ask if you have questions.
I redsn0w-win_0.8 my 3G iPhone 3.0.1 and to install Icy and Cydia. I tried to load Cydia but it kept crashing. I redsn0w-win_0.8 again and now when it gets to the end of the pineapple man and completes, it re-boots but when it comes back on it shows the grey/silver apple logo and then it shows the loading animation and it keeps doing that and then vibrating and then doing the same thing over and over again. Allright friend, This happens when jailbreaking does not go successfull, DOnt panic, this is normal and has happenend many time with people. Just put your Iphone in DFU mode and then go to Itunes and press shift + Restore and put in 3.0.1 file. Once restored to 3.0.1 then open Redsnow 0.8 and follow the instructions YOUR Redsnow 0.8 tell you. Finally you will be jailbroken this time successfully.
Allright friend if u are already at 3.0.1 so please do not update to newer version that is 3.1. Because if u are a windows user then u cannot jailbreak it. But if u hav a mac computer then u can jailbreak 3.1 firmware. But I personally recommend not to update to 3.1 because this will change your baseband as well. Meaning u will not be able to use it with Tmobile or any unofficial carrier again.
3.0.1 is the last recognised version to be jailbroken and unlocked for now. So do not update to 3.1

my itunes i downloaded it from the itunes site so got the latest one. i cant even get into my phone coz im using an optus sim and it needs a voda sim which isnt even with me.
Sim is not an issues here. You can put any GSM sim in your Iphone and it will work BUT WITH A SOME KNOWLEDGE. Do as I said about holding buttons earlier. You can also try by holding down Power and home button togther for few seconds and when it shuts off completely quickly leave the buttons. Don't press the buttons long that it reboots again. Now if your Iphone is completely off and you are sure it is off then HOld Home button and insert cable wire in it, Keep holding Home button continued.....
Continued..... Keep holding HOme button till you see Itunes logo and USB logo on iphone screen then go to Itunes and shift + restore and put in 3.0 firmware file and Then Jailbreak with redsnow. 0.8
Press and hold Power and HOme button together for few seconds till it reboot. THen go to settings then general then about then version. What is your version ?
OH DEAR !!! 3.1 Firmware cannot be Jailbroken yet till this very moment. No Jailbreak has been out yet for it. And there is no way you can go back to 3.0 Firmware, since it will give you an error in Itunes if you are using Iphone 3gS. So might as well wait for the Jailbreak when it comes out. Hackers are still working on this 3.1 Jailbreak.
yeh i did that pressed shift located the file and everything but that message appears. everytime i get to the last step it doesnt show the jailbreaking icon and the pineapple.

First make sure that the 3.0 firmware file you are putting in Redsnow is correct for your device. If this is ture and doesn't work then HOld Home and Power BUTTON on Iphone for few seconds till it reboot then open Itunes and backup all your data. Then Press shift + restore and locate 3.0 firmware file for your Iphone 3gS. Once this is done then Jailbreak it with Redsnow 0.8 again. And if it get stuck at first reboot , Plug out the cable and plug it back in.

When u insert prepaid AT&T sim in your iPhone and it shows no service then simply jailbreak it and unlock it and it will work. And about Internet use on iPhone , you can either have a data plan from Tmobile that costs 29.99 a month with unlimited access to Internet or another way is Internet Tethering. In this way you will be using your computer's Internet connection to have Internet on your iPhone. You can also check some nice videos on it on YouTube.
Well done. Full form of flash player has not been introduced yet for iPhones but there is one thing called "imobilecinema" that enables u to watch most of the flash animations on iPhones. It's available in Cydia. First u have to have "steffwiz" installed and then "all sources". Then search for 'imobilecinema' and install that. And done.

This is called a tethered Jailbrake.
You need to run BlackRa1n Everytime you turnoff your iphone

Hi emac thanks 4 your help ive been reading through previous problems on this page and i have the same problem, i have a new 3gs running 3.1.2 when i load redsnow browse for your 3.0 file u gave us in the info section it finds it and redsnow completes saying done press finish but my iphone gets stuck with blank screen and backlight on and never gets to pineapple bit. so ive run itunes and press shift restore with your 3.0 firmware but it doesn't work and says the device isn't eligable.

Yes obviously Redsnow is going to say that because it only recognizes 3.0 and 3.0.1 firmware files. Please read the heading of this video. Redsnow will not take 3.1.2 file. So please download appropriate firmware for your device from my links given on right side of written description. Then do this. Feel free to ask.

There is no difference at all. Its just an injection vector that is inserted after we Unlock and thats it . Other than thant it is same. And Yes, you can upgrade it through ITunes. But one thing very very important is that new Iphone 3gs after Jailbreaking will act as a tethered Jailbreak. Meaning everytime you reboot your Iphone 3gS , it will show you Itunes logo and USB logo so you have to run Blackrain from your computer to open it. Details are written in my new Jailbreak video. When you face this issue, you have to restore your Iphone again from Itunes to 3.0 and then Jailbreak it with Redsnow. Also there is another easy way. There is a new "Blackrain" jailbreak out that can jailbreak and Unlock your iphone3g and 3gS on the latest firmwares 3.1 and 3.1.2. Than Jailbreak method is far way easier than this. Pwnagetool is for mac. In this video Redsnow is used to Jailbreak. And yes redsnow instructions changes automatically according to your iPhone. It will be different for 3gs and 3g.

Hi there,
i tried to download 3gs firmware for 3.0 from your link posted.
In your video, when you browse for the ipsw, it show the file name of iPhone2,1_3.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw.
But when i downloaded it (from Megaupload) the file was named as 1_3_1.0_7A341_Restore.ipsw.
Please confirm are those two files were the same???

iPhone 3gS with AT&T 2year contract will cost $200. But without contract will cost you $600-$700. Please note that all iPhones only work with GSM Network. No other networks are recognised by it. This time if you are buying an iPhone 3gS , please you have to make sure if it's running on 3.0 or 3.0.1 firmware. If YES, then buy it because this can be Jailbroken & Unlocked. Oh no, friend, If you have an Iphone 3gS running on 3.1 then this video is not for you. If you are at 3.1 firmware then you can simply Jailbreak your Iphone through "blacrain" Jailbreak method. You can view this Blackrain Jaibreak method on my channel.

Just hold home and power button together for few seconds till iPhone shuts off completely. Don't hold it too long that it turns in again. Now again run Redsnow. If same thing happens then go to Itunes and restore your iPhone to 3.0 firmware again and then jailbreak it with redsnow. Just stay away from 3.1 or 3.1.2 firmwares.

Connect tour device to your computer and right click on your iPhone name inside iTunes. You will see "backup" option. So backup and then repeat the same process and next time choose "restore from backup". Done.

If u have jailbroken apps downloaded from your computer or installous on iPod then it will be backed up too. Just turn on 'iTunes sync' option in your installous settings in your iPod. Then sync it and if iTunes pops a message then press 'transfer'. Once you have your jailbroken apps in your iTunes then it's safe. And if you downloaded anything from cydia then u have to reinstall them again. But I am assuming everything should go fine while jailbreaking & you don't even have to do all above.

Please backup and sync all your data before running redsnow. If jailbreaking goes successful then you will have all your apps and music. You will not loose it.

No worries friend, this has been a very very common issue with many many users. First of all please make sure that you have correct firmware for your device that you are browsing in Redsnow. Secondly if it gets stuck then hold home and power button together for few seconds till iPhone reboots. Restore it from iTunes by pressing shift + restore button and put 3.0 firmware(DO NOT update to 3.1 or above).After restoring make it new device, then run Redsnow.Use my 3.0 file to restore and toJailbreak

Please do it on a different computer. I am starting to believe it's your computer, not your iPhone. And now If your screen is black , you have to hold home and power button together for few seconds till your iPhone shuts off. Don't press it too long that it reboots again. Then run Redsnow again. And please as I said try it on a different computer.

NOt to worry, Now you see Itunes logo and USB logo on your Iphone, so simply Run Redsnow 0.8 at this time. This Redsnow 0.8 will Hactivate your Iphone and will open your Iphone in normal mode. Once you are in normal mode then you have to put Ultrasnow source in Cydia to Unlock. ANd done.

This method is a little different than Purple rain. I would suggest to restore your Iphone from Itunes before Jailbreaking. But please be very very alert. DO NOT hit "restore" button in Itunes to restore. Because doing so will take you to 3.1 FIrmware and you will loose your Unlock. So always press Shift key on Keyboard + Restore button and update to 3.0 Firmware. Once you have done that then Follow this video. All you need is Redsnow 0.8 and 3.0 Firmware file for your Device. Feel free to ask.

ONe more thing , if you are in Restore mode now, so press and hold home and power button for few seconds till your IPhone reboot. Once its booted then go to Itunes and do shift + restore thing and locate to 3.0 file and then Jailbreak it using Redsnow. ALso make sure that you have correct 3.0 file for your device. Go to iTunes in applications section and check mark on all your cracked apps. Before anything happens iTunes usually pops up a message before deleting cracked apps. So try to cancel that option. You will be all set.

DevTeam has successfully upgraded an iPhone 3GS on OS 3.0, pwned previously, to OS 3.1 without loosing the jailbreak!
However, the solution works ONLY for previously Pwned iPhone 3GS and NOT for the OOTB (out of the box) 3.1 or non-downgradeable ones (in case you didn't capture the iBSS and iBEC files)..
P.S. There is no solution for unlocking the new baseband found in OS 3.1 but you can preserve the unlock while updating the iPhone to OS 3.1, once the jailbreak tools are available publicly

If u are running 3.1 firmware in your iPhone 3gS then it cannot be jailbroken yet. So have to be on 3.0 or 3.0.1 in iPhone 3gS to jailbreak it with redsnow and put in 3.0 file in it.

Since I was not anywhere anytime soon, I only JBed and didnt bother to unlock my device. Today I read that whether there will a 3.1 unlock is still very uncertain. Do you think that if I procrastinate any longer I would lose this unlock option? I should unlock ASAP?! (info: legit carier is T-mobile, no other simcard)

No worries friend. You will always be able to unlock your iPhone anytime if u remain on 3.0 or 3.0.1.
Just don't let Apple to seduce u to drink 3.1 poison, because if u did then your iPhone will no longer be an iPhone. It will be an iPod only. So you are safe as long as you stay away from 3.1 firmware.

If you accidently updted to 3.1 then there is no point in going back because even if you go back to 3.0 you will have NO SERVICE. So stay at 3.1. And update your Itunes to lates version 9.0.1 and also update carrier settings. Now you can have MMS on it, just released 1 hour ago and if you want to jailbreak then some people have made UNOFFICIAL videos on youtube to jailbreak 3.1 by custom restore file. YOu can do that if you want to jailbreak 3.1. Feel free to ask if you have questions.

I redsn0w-win_0.8 my 3G iPhone 3.0.1 and to install Icy and Cydia. I tried to load Cydia but it kept crashing. I redsn0w-win_0.8 again and now when it gets to the end of the pineapple man and completes, it re-boots but when it comes back on it shows the grey/silver apple logo and then it shows the loading animation and it keeps doing that and then vibrating and then doing the same thing over and over again. Please help. What have i done?

Allright friend, This happens when jailbreaking does not go successfull, DOnt panic, this is normal and has happenend many time with people. Just put your Iphone in DFU mode and then go to Itunes and press shift + Restore and put in 3.0.1 file. Once restored to 3.0.1 then open Redsnow 0.8 and follow the instructions YOUR Redsnow 0.8 tell you. Finally you will be jailbroken this time successfully.

Allright friend if u are already at 3.0.1 so please do not update to newer version that is 3.1. Because if u are a windows user then u cannot jailbreak it. But if u hav a mac computer then u can jailbreak 3.1 firmware. But I personally recommend not to update to 3.1 because this will change your baseband as well. Meaning u will not be able to use it with Tmobile or any unofficial carrier again.
3.0.1 is the last recognised version to be jailbroken and unlocked for now. So do not update to 3.1

Sim is not an issues here. You can put any GSM sim in your Iphone and it will work BUT WITH A SOME KNOWLEDGE. Do as I said about holding buttons earlier. You can also try by holding down Power and home button togther for few seconds and when it shuts off completely quickly leave the buttons. Don't press the buttons long that it reboots again. Now if your Iphone is completely off and you are sure it is off then HOld Home button and insert cable wire in it, Keep holding Home button continued.....

OH DEAR !!! 3.1 Firmware cannot be Jailbroken yet till this very moment. No Jailbreak has been out yet for it. And there is no way you can go back to 3.0 Firmware, since it will give you an error in Itunes if you are using Iphone 3gS. So might as well wait for the Jailbreak when it comes out. Hackers are still working on this 3.1 Jailbreak.

Do not do Normal Restoring. Just put your Iphone in DFU mode and then press shift + restore and locate 3.0 firmware and then Jailbreak it.

First make sure that the 3.0 firmware file you are putting in Redsnow is correct for your device. If this is ture and doesn't work then HOld Home and Power BUTTON on Iphone for few seconds till it reboot then open Itunes and backup all your data. Then Press shift + restore and locate 3.0 firmware file for your Iphone 3gS. Once this is done then Jailbreak it with Redsnow 0.8 again. And if it get stuck at first reboot , Plug out the cable and plug it back in.

im trying to jailbreak it and after i take it off the plug and turn it off and then hold the home button and plug it in at the same time, the itunes icon appears right? but after that it shud start jailbreaking its doing its thing on the screen but the iphones screen is just blue and that writing and pineapple isnt coming up? Ok, Please press and hold Power and Home button together for few seconds, till your Iphone reboot. Then go to Itunes and backup ans sync your data. Then Put your Iphone in DFU mode, at this point Your Itunes will recognise your Iphone in recovery mode. Now it is very important that you press Shift key on your keyboard and Restore button on Itunes. (DO NOT PRESS ONLY RESTORE BUTTON, PLEASE BE CAREFULL). So now a window will pop, here locate 3.0 file and restore with it and then Jailbreak again.

When u insert prepaid AT&T sim in your iPhone and it shows no service then simply jailbreak it and unlock it and it will work. And about Internet use on iPhone , you can either have a data plan from Tmobile that costs 29.99 a month with unlimited access to Internet or another way is Internet Tethering. In this way you will be using your computer's Internet connection to have Internet on your iPhone. You can also check some nice videos on it on YouTube.

Well done. Full form of flash player has not been introduced yet for iPhones but there is one thing called "imobilecinema" that enables u to watch most of the flash animations on iPhones. It's available in Cydia. First u have to have "steffwiz" installed and then "all sources". Then search for 'imobilecinema' and install that. And done.
