I would just like to say that it's impossible to be both anorexic and bulimic. Bulimia is the cylce of binging and purging, that's what Aimee is. Anorexia is where you eat nothing, period. No food ever goes into your system.

It pisses me off that people think anorexia is caused by the media. Ever try starving yourself? You have to be mentally disturbed to have an eating disorder. If you have one, it doesn't go away no matter how much people tell you you're beautiful. If you don't have an eating disorder, you will not obtain one just from looking through magazines and watching TV.

trying to look like someone through dieting doesn't occur until its already to late. The person is already using weight loss to change who they are and how they feel - l can guarantee that if someone actually did say to them "wow you look like (eg) Posh Spice," they'd freak out and lose weight faster. The reason being that in the grip of anorexia they will believe these celebrities to be fat - simply because the celebrities are functioning as part of the world, and the anorexic has opted out.

@Lemileant because they have a sane part of them that says "dude you're too skinny" so they stuff themselves stupid, or they get so hungry they can't control themselves and then feel guilty/sick/sore or the ED says "hey now you're gonna get really fat better get rid of those calories you disgusting pig". It's hard to understand unless you've suffered from it or are suffering from Bulimia. It's different to Anorexia, which is all about control, so you don't eat in the first place.

I was a cosmetician and worked as a makeup artist for TV and film plus models in photography. I can tell you, first hand, that ABSOLUTELY NO WOMAN LOOKS THAT GOOD as IN MAGAZINES, ON THE BIG SCREEN AND ON TV. THEY NEED US!! Plus in photography, there is tons of editing and air brushing. I am retired now, but I use to say, I can make anyone look good, and it was true.

I think the segment on obesity before introducing the anorexic girl was a bad call. Talking about fat cells and having to fight that the rest of your life is going to trigger some little girl out there to start up her ED. Dr. Phil really stinks with ED's.

i think theres a point in extreme dieting when you start to look less slim or slender again ...its when the bones come out to the side (hips, ellbows,knees) and of course you cant make these bones disappear ..so every pound of flesh you lose makes the bones stick out more and appear bigger - amy reached that point, and she still tries to diet away her bones! she sees herself as fat because some parts of her skeleton (hips and rips) appear "fat" compared to others (arms and legs) this is insane!

This disorder is so unfortunatly common :( I come from the ballet world, and its so common there, i see it almost every day, even some of my freinds have gone days without eating or even drinking water, its so terrible to see, and easy to get pulled into, so nobody should say the people with this disorder are stupid, they are just confused, i know i've been there, its scary and confusing and really hard to get better. Keep fighting, because recovery is possible! :)
