  • I agree with the below posters, they that "fell away" were never "in" Christ. At verse 9, the writer of Hebrews he "switches" to the recipients of the letter.."Yet in your case, beloved, we feel sure of better things. Hebrews Chapter 6:1-8 is referring to people who saw firsthand the workings of Christ, heard the gospel, and still rejected it. they werent born again, therefore can not be saved. Jesus said, one must be born-again.

  • First John 2:19 says in reference to those who depart from the faith, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us; but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."

  • Hey, what-do-you-know! The writer of Hebrews is warning them about something that can't happen! At least according to some people.

    Great channel brother, God bless!

  • You have not a clue Norm about the TRANSLATION of the text its in.These Jews talking about KNEW THE truth of Christ but still did blood offerings thinking it would be the same as Christ offering.Look up the truth Norm! You saying theres sins that the blood of Christ doesnt cover?Only 1 sin is that,To know the truth of Christ and to Reject it.Thats the one sin that theres no saving Grace for.

  • 1). Mr. Norm you are correct, They having falling away. The question is, who is the they? If they were christian then we have a contradiction in Scripture. The problem is The "will" of the Father! The Scriptures are clear that we must rightly divide the word of truth. One cannot be chosen by the Father and then The Son loses the ones that the Father gave Him to secure. How that can that happen. The only possible way is that the ones in Hebrew were not saved.

  • 2). Although they praticipated in the worship services and were partakers, they never accepted what was offered to them, They rejected Christ! So what the writer was saying that it is impossible for them to ever get saved because they reject the only one who could save them. This is in line with Hebrews 10:26,28; Gal 5:4). Remember that the writer was addressing Jews who lived by the law. He concluded by saying he was convinced of better things that are near salvation, and accompany it (He.6:9)

  • I've started a discussion on this topic on my web site bibleqna . com. I would appreciate your comments and discussion there.

    Thanks,

    Norm

  • 1 Jn. 3:9 say that God's seed remains in him and he CANNOT practice sin. So to understand your logic, those in He.6 were saved ones, and have now lost their salvation because of sin. I think Jesus would contradict you for your statement. He say that He will lose none that the Father gives Him (Jn.6:38-40; Jn.10:27-29). If He did lose just one person, what would be the consequences?

  • Most people who believe that a believer's can loses their salvation fail to realize that Jesus secures our salvation not us. Jesus makes it plain that: All that the Father Give Him He will lose nothing, but will "RAISE" it up at the last day (Jn 6:39-40). I believe Jesus simply said that He will not lose anyone that the Father Gives Him. This my friend is "eternal Security".

The writer of Hebrew could not be saying that a christian can fall away and lose his salvation.

  • Excellent comments, but they go way over Norm's head so you might as well cease the futility - it is impossible to debate someone who likes to take the particular over the general message....and Norm and the rest of the church of Christ denomination build out their belief system using about 25 particular verses - then they are forced to pervert all the rest of scripture that is seen as inconsistent with their narrow theology - all very sad, all very true!

  • Great video friend. Those are good points you bring up.

  • I guess that we all are domed! For the Scripture are clear, It is imposible for anyone to be renewed to the faith if he fall away. The question must be asked, Can a person ever be forgiven if he falls away into sin? (1 Jn.1:9)

  • If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. - 1 John 1:9 (NASB)

    A) The passage says that if we confess our sins God will forgive us.

  • Stupid video - all his point are lies, so how can they be good?

  • Q: Wait, which one is he lying about?
