  • 420.. ye ye

  • J Dilla

  • If thats true CyphaBeatz1 then those young men should have a bit of respect. The old skool hip hoppers were the ones that paved the way for those youngsters to enjoy their success today

  • @higherlevel28 classic '96 shit - Beats Rhymes & Life

  • @aLovelyDistraction ha born june 96, too bad not too many teens listen to this smooth shit

  • @higherlevel28 haha if i didn't feel old before, i do now! damn, i miss the 90's. time's were different back then and hip-hop was raw and real. it's hard to imagine quality music like this was actually played on the radio. it's nice to know there are young people such as yourself who can find an appreciation for 'real' hip-hop :)

  • @aLovelyDistraction yea so true, for me music is an escape where i can jus go to and wipe my mind clear. Music from tha golden age of Hip-Hop like '86 to '94, is just what ive always favored. Its smooth, crisp sound with rhymes that have a message and actual lyrical content, not rappin about thuggin it out all tha time but jus tellin a good story. With thats i guess its easy to kno why some of my favorites include Nas, Mos Def, AZ, Rakim, KRS-one, Native Tongues, Talib Kweli, and so many more

  • @higherlevel28 This came out in '96 and Mos Def was late 90's, but yeah I feel ya.

  • @higherlevel28 classic '96 shit - Beats Rhymes & Life

  • yo wen this song come out?

  • Damn i Remember Back in the days when... Oh wait im only 17 lml

  • at 2:16 it looks like busta rhymes running around lol

  • @g69toor that is busta in this video..

  • Respond to this video... that is busta in this video..

  • NAUGHTY THINKING

  • 7 dislikes should get smacked in the face with a soulja boy cd !! Stupid !!!

  • Real hip hop, with my boy rocking the Marshall Faulk jersey, classic. So glad this was the music of my generation growing up in the 90's...

  • @2HometownKid Totally agree. But I don't think it'll happen. Not because of ego's or anything, but I don't think Pfife has really performed like he used to in a while. He's had kidney problems over the years because of his diabetes. It's amazing enough that he's MC-ing a hip hop event coming soon to ATL.

  • @Thedarkheritage1

Awesome. I appreciate the book reference. 80s-90s hiphop' have the best rhymes hands down.

  • @marfbegrarf He wants to sell it, there's no reference. Also, the book sucks.

  • BMVTV no longer exists....):

  • @swswa221

get the fuck out of here, no one wants to read your spam. its pretty obvious that your username and the person you are replying to is one in the same. spam

  • This track brings back so many memories....One of the illest tribe tracks

  • This was the first Tribe song I ever heard, and also the first old-school hip-hop I ever heard. That was 3 years ago. Now I'm a b-boy, a part of the local hip-hop community, a part of the global culture, and I somehow forgot about this song until today. It brings it all back for me and reminds me what a beautiful thing hip-hop is

  • @remzrider107 Just in case you havent, check the album before this- Low End Theory. Its their best one. Thumbs up on your comment ;)

  • @thatstheguy07 Actually "Midnight Marauders" came out before this album. "Low End Theory" was released before "Midnight Marauders."

  • the 7 who disliked it are little wayne and soulja boy fans

  • @cyphabeatz1 nope the 9 who dislike don't know shit about music and problaby are metalhead!

  • busta looks crazy as FUCK loooooool

  • YO..........THAT KID IS NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE!!!!!!

  • BEST GROUP EVER!!!!!

  • AMAZING BEAT

  • can someone please save rap. there have been a few that tried but it did not work. is it the fans fault? is it the rappers sellin out? whats going on? someone needs to step up!!

  • @cbabmbsb Its punk ass suburban white kids who think Lil' Wayne is the best thing since sliced bread. I'm not gonna lie I'm white but have black ancestors, but that shouldn't really matter. Fact is, rappers are selling out to make as much as possible and forgot the real fans, us guys, long ago. These guys be getting to old to save rap now but a reunion of all the old school artists would show we haven't forgotten real music. I'm talking a world wide tour in USA, UK, all of europe. Worldwide tour

  • @cbabmbsb you just need to start looking deeper, there its still good hip hop even tho it does nt have that great 90s feel with it,its there. you just need to search pass the radios and tv screens and search deep into the internet....and i dont have a problem with Lil Wayne..becuz in 20 years when he looks back on his music careermhe will realise his music did nothing positive for anyone...whereas with tribe they can live happily after they have broken up knowing that they are legendary. PEACE!

  • @oSolomon1804o

RAP means rythym and poetry. no one is fulfilling RAP. Like I said there have been a few and a lot that have tried but failed. Nas, J, Wu, Meth, Red, BIG, Tupac, snoop, eminem, dre, dmx, talib, mos, big pun, outkast, busta, mob deep, 50, have been the few that have made a dent in the last fifteen years. im just saying all music and not just rap need to be saved

  • @cbabmbsb 50? Rap evolves like all aspects of culture. You people complaining about current hip hop can just listen to old school jams. BTW Dre, Snoop and 50 aint close to poets on their best day, your just listing your favourite rappers and failing at even remotely making your point.

  • @oSolomon1804o Four words. People Under The Stairs. Download that shit.

  • was "erection" really muted out of this? fuck the FCC. hearing "erection" in a song causes no harm to anyone, whatsoever.

  • 0:44 Busta Rhymes ?

  • Damn, this is real hip hop , for anyone that was wondering. Classic stuff, that probably won't ever be re created, so respect it.

  • J Dilla.

  • eeeh. busta rhymes is there. look at the dude. hi guys also watch 'the cipher' by frankie cutllass.

  • Moral of the story is to always keep jet packs handy .....

  • whoa! just love dis track! respekt y'all tcq!

  • I bow

  • @YoungOldSchoolRapper most rappers aint original nowadays anymore..so be urself keep ur own identity to make a mark in the future..peace out

  • @swswa221 why your shit is on everywhere?

  • I just found out about these guys today and im 19, what have i missed?

  • @Reijerkolle probably most of the good rappers during the 90s, a tribe called quest is the first that i think of when some1 says old school rap

  • @Reijerkolle

u missed the whole 90s my brother...lol, but thanks to utube...

  • This was when Rap was Rap when New York City was running Hip Hop like the 80's and 90's after the east vs west beef. Hip Hop started in NYC.Before all these corny cities and other parts of the country fucked Hip Hop up and corny niggaz from all over started to get into the Rap game and ruin it.

  • LITTLE KNOWN FACT: Q-Tip briefly dated actress Nicole Kidman.

  • @DutchKalhoun by briefly dated he means hit it and quit it

  • Pretty much. Yeah. LOL

  • I like this! I like this a lot!!

  • love this song...what album was it on again?? and is stressed out on the same album??? thank you youtubers!!

  • One word: amazing

  • wht happened 2 real shit like this/

  • @slaycatz i agree

  • love this sibe i was a lil girl still do true hip hop head

  • who produced that sound? Oh yeah, HIM again. LOL if u understand bitchez

  • They censored the word erection, but I think that word might slip through on TV nowadays. They used to bleep out the word ass but that word's hardly considered vulgar at all anymore, just as it wasn't in Shakespeare's time.

  • :(((( what happen to real music?

  • Smooth song...

  • hiphop will never be as good as this again

  • big up trop fort ce beat ketttttttttttttttttttttt

  • So much to A Tribe Called Quest. Why do people have to take time to say "fuck you" to such and such artists? Let them live and do what they do. It is a free country. All this division is stupid. Hip-hop does not need that.

  • @wgbarnes101 , *Much respect*

  • i used to listen to drake and wiz khalifa ... but everytime i listen to atcq mf doom and other underground rappers i just find that todays rap sucks... btw i bought all atcq album yesterday ... eargasmic

  • @MarleyRootsPacDoom Don't disgrace Tribe with the word rap. This classic music is hip-hop.

  • @ZackH26 this is rap. that bubblegum shit isnt.

  • THIS IS HIP-HOP!!!

  • who is singing?

  • @pinkmapviolin phife dawg and Q tip

  • fuck u 6 haters

  • I wish I could travel in time... back to the 90's and stop time right there... eh...

  • This is better than Lil Wayne press the like button!

  • I miss Quest!!! Hip Hop was so Lovely back then. The samples and musicality were incredible. Now if you sample, they tax you hard, and that's even if they let you use anything. Hip Hop will never return to the glory of this era unless we stop being greedy. I think peeps should be compensated for sampling, but man, share the good music.

  • @dragondlx exactly, also, i have a question. quest the dubstep producer of tunes such as 'Smooth skin' is nothing to do with 'tribe called quest' am i right?

  • Real Music.. Classic Track

  • These cats need to give us something new..... They were back together for the hip hop honors show a few years ago. Fife didnt look to good. Anyone know whats up with him? Wish him well.....Fife was rockin the Carnel Lake Jersey.....Steeler Nation stand up.....

  • hey can you guys check me out? and sub? i need some feedback from some real hip hop fans... thanks.. aye, a tribe called quest is beastie as hell though!

  • Tribe>De La>Everyone Else

  • much respect for this tight group doe

  • rrr how i miss the real days...

  • Well said @nicomell1!

  • I cry when I hear the horrible music that people of today call rapp and hip hop...The shit you hear today is GARBAGE!! I know that hip hop, r&b, and rapp will never be the same...The 90's was when TRUE hip hop existed... The 90's was when REAL rapp and hip hop were revolutionizing and pioneering the world....It has not been the same ever since. Music today has no depth or substance...No meaning...And more importantly, it has no heart or soul!!..Nothing is the same..

  • @nicomell1 The future of hip hop depends on whether fans of the real thing take matters into their own hands, or succumb to defeatist attitudes and hopelessness.

  • @KarlBonner1982 No doubt...I agree...It is up to the listener to keep the music goin...As long as you keep hittin that "replay" button, hip hop will never die... ; )

  • @nicomell1 I hate people who generalize music. Not all music today is bad, just the shit you hear on the radio. You have to dig a little bit deeper, and you'll find the good stuff. Dom Kennedy, Big Sean, J. Cole, K-os, Cise Star, and quite a few more. Stop judging this generation by what you hear on the radio, and look a bit deeper.

  • @Chaantastic "Not all music today is bad, just the shit you hear on the radio. You have to dig a little bit deeper."

You're missing the whole point....What you hear on the radio today is the same exact crap you see and hear on tv as well. There's no real variety nor is there any REAL hip hop being shown out there...I see you are 24 years old so maybe you just don't know...And I say that because you have NO idea what music was like on the radio and tv back in the 90's......

  • @Chaantastic I suggest you do a lil history and find out because you will learn that the 90s had tv shows like Video Music Box, Yo MTV Raps, & Bet's Rap City. These shows would air RAW and UNSIGNED talent on their late night programs. Video Music Box was one of the first TV programs ever to feature hip-hop videos primarily. it was one of the most influential shows to give urban artists mainstream exposure. Many artists from the Golden Age of Hip-Hop made their debuts on Video Music Box.

  • @Chaantastic Furthermore, even radio stations like 97.1 in N.Y.C would air late night hour shows with djs playing unsigned talent and artists from the local areas. You had MANY sources to learn about new or up n comin artists back then and Rap and hip hop was truly at its peak in the 90s. Where as today, you have to dig deeper and that is staright BULLSHIT!! I shouldn't have to search far and away to hear fresh music. As I said, most of the music today, sucks. It's just a fact..

  • @nicomell1 True enough! I'm also 17, and I love ATCQ, J5, all that old school stuff, I just get bugged when people say that my generation only produces shit haha

  • @nicomell1

What's wrong with u ? Do u want everybody to end up crying while listenning to this pure curse and bitches-free rap the under the shower ?

  • @MrIsaacPETE Umm...what are you talking about???

  • @nicomell1 I miss 90's hip hop, I actually I miss 90's rock as well. Everything wasn't mass produced autotuned. Like you said 90's music had soul. Musicians even though they may not sound as "produced" and "perfect" its not as good because the 90's was raw and natural not sterile and generic. When you listen to 90's hip hop you can hear the musical influences they drew from. Right now we have what I like to call I'm Angry Rap and Look how much Bling I have rap which evolved from Gangsta Rap.

  • @LunaticReason ABSOLUTELY!!!...I agree with you 100%!!! I myself, enjoy all kinds of music and I truly believe that even the rock you hear today is boring. Nothing is unique or different. Everything can be comparable. You hardly hear any groups today that incorporate different instruments and sounds. And like you said, most of the music is auto-tuned and mass produced. I'm not sure what is in store for the future.

  • My man Busta got outta there at :45 lol

  • super slick flow. Nuff said <3

  • Damn what happen real hip hop? I now live in the DMV area and can honestly say I can't find hip hop anywhere on the radio. I knew of one channel in San Antonio of all place that played music like Tribe, De La Soul, Onyx,, The Roots etc.. it was some odd channel that played hip hop not no Master P or our Soulja Boy of the early 90's and it played from 7pm-11pm. Common would probably say I used to love H.E.R.

  • @sean311973 errrr wrong your the answer to your question is wrong.

  • @jhammaster ????

  • @sean311973 you got the wrong idea about hip-hop thats what i mean.

  • ahhhh......... the golden years.
