  • I know it must get boring, to hear someone go on about the same thing over and over again, but what can I say, but I love this song.

  • favorite track on Real Gone. distilled sorrow and pain. beautifully depressing

  • @VTECheart it isn't on Real Gone.. It's on Alice

  • @Joee1257 well fish and bird is on alice, babys gonna leave me is on real gone

  • Tom Waits has made a gigantic move on me over the years.

I think about him every day. (and I have a life...although a bachelor compared to a family man has a much different kinda life..but hey...I have an imaginary bear I take care of...!)

  • I can't believe Tom Waits gave his worst concert ever in Spain after decades waiting for him :'( Man, I would have changed that sloppy hour and a bit for this highlight.

  • Hit the newly furbished Waits web site...Free downloads of about seven of the best of his Glitter and Doom songs from the 2008 tour. Some kicking, great music. Orphans is coming out as a seven record box set in Dec. Merry C.

    This is a great song.

  • I didn't know there were such a thing as a bad Tom Waits concert......... Then again, I thought the same about King Crimson before they put me to sleep.

  • what a great mix of waits

  • sigh

  • fell in love with this song...completely...

  • I still can't figure out why I get so emotional when I hear his music. No other music does this to me. "House Where Nobody Lives""Take Me Home" and several others including "Fish and Bird" really get to me. The man has clearly tapped into something deep with his music.

  • How about The Last Rose of Summer...(Black Rider..I believe) or Tell It To Me...from Bawlers Orphans disc...and that natural voice he uses on it...I could hear a whole album down like that.

  • Bad ass

  • This is beautiful.

  • Majestic - that man is genius personified. Such power to melt one's heart with a single line. Simply no one writes or performs songs like him in the world today. Thanks for sharing this.

  • Doesn't the concept of genius require a person to be instantiated?

  • @5155jonathan I'm surprised to learn that instantiated is a word. But since it is, I think you used it incorrectly in your post.

  • @afkatws Have to wonder what lyrics come from his wife, who's cowritten his songs for the past 20 or so years. Waits could always slice your heart in two, but I think more profound after she began writing with him. Lots of prostitutes and drunks before in his songs. The odd paraplegic and Mexican.

  • listened to this so much since its release the perfect song

  • so glad i managed to get a ticket for this fantastic gig.......well worth the 17 year wait

  • Superb!
