According to my Moms, she said that was a very common practice then as to not drag all the equiptment on stage amongst a variety of other reasons.Its very very difficult for even the most gifted vocalists to do a song EXACTLY the same way it was recorded in a studio...nearly impossible.Dont get me wrong, they CAN sing live and sound great!!

This appearance on Soul Train they were put on the spot and sang the last part of this song live for the audience and El hit all the notes-the family was just talented period.

El said he wrote this song, "Time Will Reveal" (by himself), when he was 16 years old and was not going to record it. However, his brother Chico encouraged him to release it. Needless to say, it was a 'hit' that remains a classic! "All This Love" was the other song that El said he also wrote by himself. Others were co-written with his siblings. Plus, even though they play instruments,they've never taken lessons. They play by ear! That's real true God given talent!
It's sad how "jealousy" broke that beautiful family group apart. The fact is that El WAS the better singer. They should have been proud that Els singing was getting all of them well paid. When the group broke up, the money decreased for the other siblings. That what being jealous gets you.

@shippo481 Bunny DeBarge cowrote many of the DeBarge's hit...plus if you listen closely to all of their songs..Bunny has the strongest background vocals! So trust me...she did a lot for this group!

I prefer the video when they sang that one in American Bandstand, also in 1983, cause they are close to the people -some of which are sitting on the floor- with light dots shining like stars at the background of the stage,and wearing the same clothes as on the album(like here,in fact)... just seemed more magic... they've removed it (as always on Youtube...you can never come back and be sure that the video you've watched some months earlier would still be there...)
It's cute to me how El grooves on stage. To the ending, he portrayed being frustrated like how the song takes you. "But this time loves foreal! Heeey! This special love in us will all reveal in time!"

Justin Bieber is for the very young and most very young girls are just infatuated with the fact that he's on stage singing and not neccessarily talented. Most young girls and boys wouldn't know the diifference between a good note and a bad note, it's all visual for them. Anyone can produce anybody if you've got the money and the resources and believe me, they don't have to be talented. It's called "Idol Making."

I saw El De Barge in Philly LIVE! Truly so gifted on the keyboards. His voice is like GOLD in natural or falsetto when he does LOVE ME IN A SPECIAL WAY. OMG!!! I hope he gets family members back together and does a tour. I would SO be there. Thank God he is in recovery & back on track. Getting busted was the best thing to happen to him. Too bad Michael Jackson did not hit bottom so that he could face reality & clean himself up:(

he sounded a bit rocky on the bet awards, but he's timeless, but i was so glad to see him on stage again. he's certaintly better than these hip hop fags these days who deserve nothing, but a kick in the ass. BET honored fags like Puff Daddy, and gave awards to all the classic wannabe's like trey songs, etc.etc. I've lost all respect for BET. Their awards are obviously FAKE.

Time will Reveal' is about God's love for us. Listen closely. I saw the Debarge Family on a show over 20 years ago when they told of the song's meaning. I remember being shocked when I heard this because it made perfect sense.

When I was a teenager and this song was out, it was me and my significant other's song - after we broke up, it was too much for me to hear until some 25 years later. I prefer the video when they sang that one in American Bandstand, also in 1983, cause they are close to the people -some of which are sitting on the floor- with light dots shining like stars at the background of the stage,and wearing the same clothes as on the album(like here,in fact)... just seemed more magic... they've removed it (as always on Youtube...you can never come back and be sure that the video you've watched some months earlier would still be there...)
