That "swing" she's doing isn't actually a thing, is it? I went to check out a local Crossfit gym the other day and saw a guy doing exactly that movement as part of his warmup. Tiny kettlebell and all.
Here form on these exercises is terrible. Emulate her and you WILL get injured. Watch the videos from someone who knows what they are talking about. My favorites are the ones by Steve Cotter. After using a few of his youtube videos I bought is DVD set "Encyclopedia of Kettebell Lifting" and am very statisfied with it.

Jillian and Bob should be ashamed of themselves for making these kettlebell videos. They have absolutely no idea how to use the kettlebell properly. If people are doing the swings and cleans like Jill in this video, they are going to seriously hurt themselves. I am a certified kettlebell instructor; Jill is not-- DO NOT BUY THIS DVD.
@TrainerJillian Oh yes, she would be allowed to release something if it were dangerous. Theres really no proaction on the safety of workout DVDs only class action lawsuits when they dont do what they say they do or someone gets hurt doing what the DVD tells them.
And for the record shes NOT a fitness expert. She's an actress playing the part of a fitness expert. She was exposed in the LA Times not a week ago.
If you do a little digging around ... you will see that TrainerJillian is a teenager. Around 13? She is obsessed with Jillian Micheal's and not in a healthy way...

Just because she knows that incorrect use will hurt you doesn't mean she knows the correct way of doing it. This way, as shown in the video, is the incorrect way. Yes, it is that cut and dry, no, there is no variation or "different way of doing it, yes, you will get hurt using her method.
Kettlebells are dangerous if used incorrectly, and she's showing us exactly how.
Anyone who would buy into that kind of scam is looking for a quick fix, and Jillian knows this...that's why she's pimped herself out and is finding numerous ways to capitalize on this. I do believe she has some sort of cleanse thing as well. Anyone who believes that a pill peddled by Jillian Michaels will ramp-up their metabolism is seriously misled.
Please, go find an RKC or AKC class. Just watch it. Form is everything. Jillian's going to get people hurt, including herself, if she swings that way. If she did her version of the "swing" for more than that video shoot, she'd be icing and popping ibuprofen for a few days. I really hope people don't by the dvd. She should collaborate with an expert or leave the bells to those of us who know proper technique.
Michaels really is doing it wrong. With the kettlebell swing, proper technique is key so that individuals don't hurt their backs and shoulders. It is not suppose to look like a squat and front raise. She needs to "follow the herd" for proper technique on this. Swings are uniform for safety. Her "squatting" the movement is wrong across the board. Check out swings done by RKC's and by AKC's. It will clarify the movement. And, yes, we are experts on kettlebell movement for a reason.
I'll give it to her...the only thing she does well is make a ton of $ preying on the fitness-uneducated general public...which obviously is wrong, lol, but for some I guess it's the "right" thing to do...so, yay for her...i'll give her that...yay for her fat loss pills and potions and books and DVDs...all I know is if I were her, I would be getting a fat paycheck, but I definitely wouldn't sleep well at night.

Get pavels "enter the kettlebell" for good proper form and instruction.
Kettlebells require specialized training, much like a martial art. If you knew anything about kettlebells (ie-studied, practiced and obtained an RKC), you wouldn't need to make up your own technique. If you were a true professional, you would take the time to study and practice, then come out with a good, quality program that would help people. Nice try though.

Wow- I have been teaching kettlebells for a long time and this is the absolute worst form I have seen and is embarrassing - read- This is NOT what using kettlebells is supposed to look like! Worst of all is it was on national tv- my mom called me and said, maybe you should send her a DVD to help her with form! Thanks to FitProSarah for posting this.
