Are you kidding me? Federer wasn't #1 when Agassi was around? Federer became the best in the game towards the end of 2003, then started his huge dominating run of world #1 in 2004. At the end of 2005, after two solid years of being number one, Federer played Agassi in the finals of the US Open.
@computermaster he took the drogs when he was in 1997 when he wa down and 140 at the ATP....never took the drugs to win...if u dont know what u talking about then shut up
That shirt was cool, not so the pink cycling shorts though. Really loved the Nike Air Challenge Court when it came out in 1990 but I couldn't afford them when I was a kid back then.
@GoldenDespairX Agassi (and other kids in the Academy) referred to Nick as 'Nick the Dick' during Agassi's early days which you can read about in Agassi's book. That was the reference.
"Modern Tennis" well, one thing people sort of mis understand.. Modern Tennis, like Nadal Style has been there for long time. Moya, Corretja, all play like Nadal.. in fact Nadal Idolized Moya when he was little.. just only problem with "Modern Tennis" is you need crazy racket head speed. Today most guys hit the ball with Palm out.. you see Andre doesn't do that.. he finish the racket over the shoulder.
Well, guy can hit as hard as he is and clear the net twice higher.. you know who win but hard
Its the same result from a different language. The main reason there has been a change in result is not some super duper new system, but an adaptation to modern technology. I can rip a ball better now that I did 20 years ago, why, the strings. My technique hasnt changes an iota, and I got complimented on it and how I teach by Oscar Wenger. The difference is the language, you cant argue with physics
You can make it simpler to understand and not overly complicate it. Even Oscar agreed many of the strokes today are similar to thoes 30 years or more ago. The footwork is even the same, what has changes is the weight and speed of the ball and the strings, which allow you to play with more head speed and rotation.
It because of places like this American tennis is insignificant . Unknowledgeable parents listening to other unknowledgeable people who convince them to send their kids to places like this where all this talent gets thrown into a big funnel where after beating each other for 6 hrs a day they lose what made them special from the beginning. Imagine if all states in the US were countries. In those regions they would provide answers in their borders and imagine how many more players we would have.
Look at Andre's racket and outfit and take a guess.
This must've been around 1990, if not a little before, since that's the time period he used Donnay. Before that he used Prince and after Donnay he used Head.
Now was that so hard to do on your own? Now you have a ballpark to look at.
Yeah, Andre didn't mention this instructional video in his book. It seems like he covered just about everything else that happened at the Bolleteri camp, though.
I got a kick out of Nick giving a slight pause and thumbs-up in the beginning when he says, "...and my friend." Andre must have agreed to make this after he gave Nick the large, stuffed Panda bear.
Upper body strength has very little benefit for tennis. Its mainly for injury prevention and stability. Just look at any pro's weightroom training. No heavy lifting. All body weight stuff for the most part. Power comes from tecnique, flexibility, legs, and core. Upper body is nothing more than a mechanism to transfer that energy. Look at fed, djokovic, etc. Skinny upper bodies but generate more power than some bigger guys.
the music made me take out my vast Porn collection ..in VHS.

zpeed7 7 months ago
Yeah, because doing drugs will make you a better tennis player, please. These were not steroids. In any case he played WORSE during that time.
zpeed7 7 months ago
Well the drugs gave him the unfair advantage so he was cheating which is a disgrace to his fellow players and tennis.
computermaster 7 months ago
Agassi you disgraced yourself with the drugs you took, I'm sure Nick must have a very low opinion of you now, Sampras never needed this to win!

Thanks for posting, this brings back a lot of memories.
Regards to modern tennis, it's not the technique that changes much, its the technology that has changed considerably over the years
