I reached level 85 two weeks ago, and I started Unholy less than one week ago. Even I can see some serious flaws in your advice. I think festering strike hits a bit harder than scourge strike, but they're similar in damage. The reason you use festering strike is to change the runes to death runes. Don't mutate your ghoul until you are ready to kill, make sure his cooldowns aren't on auto attack. othermistakes but I'm out of space. You seem to have no understanding of how to play an Unholydk

This is how to get your DK set up as in what to spec, glyph, gem, and reforge. in detail guides are coming once my partnership goes through with TGN. Starting with a detailed guide on how to properly control your pet since Unholy relies on them.
@DeFragin Alright, I want to give you the benefit of the doubt and look forward to quality information from you. But you make it difficult when you said the spec you provided is set in stone. Many top pvp guys are not speccing into Rage of Rivendare, many put only one point into Sudden Doom. I've seen almost every unholy DK put at least two points into Bladed Armor in the blood tree. These are DK specs from guys who are high in the arena ladder. You can see it on the ladder.
@OpiumBeast Festering strike does complete physical damage and is therefore mitigated by both armour and resilience. It's only use is to increase the duration on your diseases and chains of ice on your target and to convert runes. Scourge strike damage is split up into physical and spell damage and uses one rune. Your ghoul should always be empowered, it's very easy to line up empower with cds. I've been Unholy since wrath hit, you have no idea how to play them. This guide is fine.
@DeFragin This is my younger brother's account but I just wanted to say that expertise isn't important for unholy in general due to the fact that so much of your damage is spell damage.

Looks good. Tell me what spell dominates in that spec. Frost strike, obli or howling. What is the spell that you you use when you have the chance to do it for the most of course. And when u aint pvping, what would be the rotation for that spec ?
@DeFragin not true you still would use necro strike just for the slow and most classes have self heal ability's it cancels them.and its all depending on which unholy spec your running.which your running rivendare

So I respecced into Unholy and I summoned my pet. I noticed he was in his Dark Transformation form and saw the buff. When I scrolled over to it,it was 14 day duration! LOL
Though saying that, I am playing unh a load more and just saying 'screw it, someone else can fc' for random bg's... And I only do rbg's with guild (who usually have a spec'd fc already) so I may regem haste as it is a more useful stat than res (since my gear and spell pen gems give me over 4.6k res)
Well... Again, I'm going to have to disagree with you... Yellow sockets should have 20str+20 haste or 40 haste... As with the gear levels now there's Not really a need to gem res... Though i personally have the str+res gems in yellow, but that was because I use all specs... Will use unh most of the time, but will go frost for strands (for the slows) and blood for wsg (for fc)

Yeah, same I left just before our guild got LK down (typical!) and came back a couple of months into cata... Just topped my single target dps with 37.5k (well, I've done more but that was due to buffs from the twilight hc with illidan in when I got about 90k dps - but that doesn't count =P)
Yeah dw and 2h are pretty even.. Both have pros and cons of choosing the one over the other... I did the same at the end of season 10 and got 2 1h axes to test it...
I've been playing a dk since they came out, and like to test pretty much every option to see what's best for me.. I currently play unh for both pvp and pve (I can get over 30k dps in pvp gear with pve spec!) I'm just trying to pass on some tips to help you out.. Some 'constructive' criticism.. =P
And regarding the axes... They all have they exact same stats.. So you have nothing to gain by choosing swords over axes... Also as dw frost, attacks like oblit,necrotic strike etc are physical attacks... So can be dodged/parried... So yeah.. Having a little bit exp can help there...
@Supermoocow86 I never said there was nothing to gain from using the swords. I simply like the way they look better, and the gain from using axes is so insignificant to me that I didn't really care seeing as I don't have an issue with those attacks missing. And I only bought these swords to compare DW to 2H in my video since I had nothing to spend honor in. I don't use DW myself, I prefer 2H.
As for glyphing HoW over blood tap.. You'd rather glyph a useless glyph (as you'd use HoW every so often to get runic power up) over a glyph that stops you taking damage (even if the damage is at a min, it's still damage that you can avoid)
Well whether it uses one rune or two.. Festering strike still does more damage... Less damage per second (I shall grant you that) but it's still a harder hitting strike (which you claimed ss was).. Dark succor, well.. You're the only person I know to use it since 4.2 when it got nerfed...
Also, you admit it's not an in depth guide.. Yet you still have the cheek to call it amazing...
It's not just my opinion... Did you read through my comments? I told you what mistakes you made... You can't deny that! And the fact that you no longer have unh spec on your toon shows that you didn't know how to play/lacked skill - so went back to the faceroll known as frost... If you look at my corrections below and try them out you'll find that unh is a great class to play (way better than frost!)

Yeah, but a terrible one... Not amazing like you claim it is at the start of the video... If it wasn't for that and you just said it was a beginners guide I'd of probably left it... Even though there are a good few mistakes... But to say its an amazing guide when it's a really sucky guide means that you sir, shall be trolled!
Another flaw I've noticed... You haven't mentioned pet abilities at all, whether you have claw on auto attack or if you have it macro'd to an attack to keep the pets energy above 30 so you can use the stun ability (gnaw) or leap without having to wait for the energy to regen...
Also you haven't mentioned ams, strangulate etc (weapons against casters which stop you getting cc'd and stop them from causing damage to you)...
I deffo would never class this vid as a guide to unh... It lacks too m
@Supermoocow86 I think you just need to calm down. This isn't an in-depth detailed guide that's going to give you all the answers to every situation in arena's. You couldn't fit that into a short video and I would like to keep it in segments due to attention spans. Yea I know all about that, but this is a guide more for getting you're unholy dk ready for pvp rather than being amazing at it...
Also from looking on the armoury.. You should not be giving anyone advice on how to play... You have only got 1.5k (and have never had a rating above this) in 2's, you've never even had this rating in 3's or 5's...
That.. And.. 1handed swords on an Orc? Clearly you don't even know your racial buffs... Orcs use axes! Noob orcs use other weapons...
I'm sorry.. but i find this a bad guide... 1st -gems are only same as frost if you only gem str, res and spell pen... if you dont ench res.. and say you go for the other option and gem mastery for frost.. then they are not the same.. as mastery isnt a good stat for unh... you'd then switch to haste...
2nd- prime glyphs... scourge strike is optional.. some ppl find icy touch better for the extra damage on dots.. but thats no biggy.. eithers good...
@Supermoocow86 7th- I personally use Death Coil once as soon as diseases are put on a target so they can't be dispelled and not just as a runic dump... I also use it everytime unh blight debuff is about to run out.. to keep it on.. 1 because, again, the other diseases cant be dispelled, 2 because the more dots on a target the better (as they'll give you extra damage)

@Rasshode Yes, this footage was done with me half asleep and i didn't remember to replace my death strike with necrotic strike. But yes, have you're necrotic strike on you're action bar. Only use it when fighting a class thats being healed or can heal itself

@Supermoocow86 I think you just need to calm down. This isn't an in-depth detailed guide that's going to give you all the answers to every situation in arena's. You couldn't fit that into a short video and I would like to keep it in segments due to attention spans. Yea I know all about that, but this is a guide more for getting you're unholy dk ready for pvp rather than being amazing at it...

Also from looking on the armoury.. You should not be giving anyone advice on how to play... You have only got 1.5k (and have never had a rating above this) in 2's, you've never even had this rating in 3's or 5's...
That.. And.. 1handed swords on an Orc? Clearly you don't even know your racial buffs... Orcs use axes! Noob orcs use other weapons...

I'm sorry.. but i find this a bad guide... 1st -gems are only same as frost if you only gem str, res and spell pen... if you dont ench res.. and say you go for the other option and gem mastery for frost.. then they are not the same.. as mastery isnt a good stat for unh... you'd then switch to haste...
2nd- prime glyphs... scourge strike is optional.. some ppl find icy touch better for the extra damage on dots.. but thats no biggy.. eithers good...

@Supermoocow86 3rd- Dark succor is a complete and utter rubbish glyph... it only works if you kill someone now... so in arenas its near useless...
4th- horn of winter is a crap glyph too as you will want to use HoW often to get extra runic power... swap that with blood tap..
5th- scourge strike isn't the hardest hitting attack.. festering strike hits harder
6th - didn't mention necrotic strike (usefull when against healers or self healing classes) ran out of space again... more coming

@Supermoocow86 7th- I personally use Death Coil once as soon as diseases are put on a target so they can't be dispelled and not just as a runic dump... I also use it everytime unh blight debuff is about to run out.. to keep it on.. 1 because, again, the other diseases cant be dispelled, 2 because the more dots on a target the better (as they'll give you extra damage)

Thanks for this :) Unholy has confused me for quite some time now. You made it alot easier, but one question. Do you tend to use necrotic strike? Or do you mainly blast away with scourge and festering?

@Rasshode Yes, this footage was done with me half asleep and i didn't remember to replace my death strike with necrotic strike. But yes, have you're necrotic strike on you're action bar. Only use it when fighting a class thats being healed or can heal itself

@AAHSKEETSKEETSKEET You're right the stat priority isn't the same as frost, why do you think I talk about the stat priority in this video. Although the gems and enchants are the same because all you're really going to be buying gems and enchants for are mainly str. So yea, they are.

@ReMoRsEllWatson Yea that was a fail on my part, I didn't notice till about my 6th arena that I had Death Strike instead of Necrotic Strike on my Action Bar. Then again it was like 4 in the morning lol. I guess I didn't use any of the footage after I corrected it.

@N0tG00dBye The guide is for Unholy. The video isn't of Unholy game play though. I didn't want to use BG footage in the background so I just used some 2v2 arena's frost dk footage instead. I'll be releasing a 3v3 arena video soon with unholy and frost dk gameplay.
