I saw this band preform in Long Beach Calif, @ the Peppermint Twist I think was the name of the club..they had three dance floors..I think it was 1966 or 1967 when I was in the service..their music was ahead of the times ..the club was packed with people..great group..
I was at the taping of the Legends of Latin Rock show at the Orpheum in 2008. Audience of about 1500 geezers like myself screaming our heads off the =instant= they kicked into "Love Special Delivery." Magical.
The PBS program aired just a few days ago...it was called Chicano Rock! The Sounds of East Los Angeles. It was great but I don't know when it will be aired again :(
There's another one, this time it's a concert that was filmed at the Orpheum in Downtown LA. "The Latin Legends of Music," Tierra, El Chicano, Thee Midniters, Trini Lopez, Mark Guerrero and Greg Rolie from Santana performed.
here goes again . oh my God . . . as soon as I saw this I started to cry . . . the first thing I thought of was PBS . . . yes, why not . . PBS . . why can't we have our Latino Legends immortalized tambien . . . just like the fabulous doo wop and oldies but goodies. Can you imagine (all of us) rushing to buy them - I personally am age 66 going on 67 and stay young with pride listening to our music . . . and to see you're still so fine looking - all mellowed out . . love you...
I agree totally, Desert Flower. PBS should definitely put together an oldies reunion with these guys (Lil Willie G & Thee Midniters), El Chicano, Tierra, and Malo, to name just a few. What a great show that would be!
There's a special concert airing on PBS in February with Tierra, El Chicano & Thee Midniters. I don't know the date just yet, but we attended the taping in November.
great stuff!!!thanks for sharing !!!this brought back some memories.believe it or not,i used to be on a 50's and 60's road show backing up a lot of the old artist from back in the day like the crest(16 candles)and many more..it was a lot of fun...thanks again for the memories!!

Wow! They don't have really good bands like this anymore. They remind me a little of Malo(just not as bottom heavy).
Beautiful voice, arrangements, and musicians.
When you coming to NYC - you'd be a big hit here, seriously.
Keep on Rock'n!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Best Wishes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thee Midniters are still the greatest band to ever come out of East LA and one of my all-time favorite bands. RIP Romeo Prado.
