Overall, the Fed has done a good job of dictating monetary policy over almost 100 years - it's being demonized because it's sexy now to lash out at a tangible entity, much like Germans did with the Weimar Republic (thanks to Hitler).

Well, look how nicely they've dictated our monetary policy so far. People are being trown onto the streets, loosing their jobs etc. It is tax money, and people deserve to know what is being done with it. Gov. is to serve the people, not rip them off. (that's how it should be). Plus, nobody elected the Fed. They fraudulendly assumed this role (check their backgroud) and power to dictate monetary policy should be in Congress' hands, thats the Constitution of this country.

Overall, the Fed has done a good job of dictating monetary policy over almost 100 years - it's being demonized because it's sexy now to lash out at a tangible entity, much like Germans did with the Weimar Republic (thanks to Hitler).
Greenspan's salad days of the 90s were brilliant and his manipulation of interest rates contributed to the boom of that period in housing and technology investment.

My opinion is that you should dig under the surface and do some serious non-biased research, which means reading analyses from both sides of the issue. Don't listen to MSNBC, CNN, Fox, Ron Paul, Barney Frank, and others who know nothing about economics and history.
To start, I would check out PBS' Paul Solman's The Business Desk, The Economist, The Financial Times, and various think tanks for a full historical perspective.
Issues are more than black-and-white - they should be read all over!

The interest collected by the Fed (not that much btw) gets remitted to the US Treasury, not some shady cabal of bankers. This destroys the simple (and false) premise that our monetary system is based on debt because the interest accrued goes right back to the government. The Fed is semi-private not to fund "international bankers" but to keep the monetary system from being controlled by political interests. Read up on fractional banking to understand more about how our system works.

These people pass bills that allow us to kidnap and torture people without representation all the time and can still sleep at night. The thought of that is pretty damn terrifying to me. These assholes should burn for what they do to people.

I feel the same way sometimes. When they won't listen to us and show on a daily basis their refusal to hold powerful criminals to justice it is almost like we don't even have a choice. It is just a weird feeling when your government refuses to work for you. Very frustrating...we can call them patriot assassins because they would supply swift justice by showing the big wigs that we are still here and we still care. Also someone needs to put fear in these politicians. They do it to us 24/7.

Just engaged in yet another fruitless exchange with a gerbil @ DeGette's DC office. I requested a response to my inquiry with regard to 1207. I can expect an e-mail reply in 2>3 MONTHS.( thanks ever so much) DeGette does not want to be involved in Obama's NEW Transparent gov. DeGette is aware of the content of RPs bill. But the staff all act dumb. They are very condescending and rightly so. They know the dumb fucks will reelect them no matter what they do. Denver Dems are stupid beyond belief.

The bill Ron Paul introduced to shut down the fed did not get the support it needed, but 1207 has an overwhelming co sponsors. Getting this one passed is our option for now which is why so many are getting behind HR 1207 to audit. Apparently congress didn't get enough emails about shutting down the fed for good. I actually got many, many responses from some congress members that scared the heck out of me. Many didnt seem to have a grasp of the truth/system

You don't need the Federal Reserve. Treasury has the power under the law to circulate legal tender. And of course Treasury does not charge the government interest since that would be the government charging itself interest. The President has the power to enact this.
