  • Elisa412..

  • Arthur sounds so much like Billy Eckstein and Lord knows that is a wonderful thing..

  • @GRHCU oh so true *smiles*

  • Nadia....Jeg er glad for at der er dig!!!!

  • Ohhhhhhhh that voice, those words,,

  • Sings like warm carmel.Johnny Hartman also does excellent version.

  • I listened to Sinatra's version and it doesn't touch Arthur Prysock's!

  • The BEST version of this lovely song. Arthur was a unique singer, greatly underrated.

  • NO ONE DOES THIS BETTER THAN PRYSOCK...SUPERB

  • Many many years ago I went to a jazz fest where names like Sara Vaughn, Patti LaBelle, Pointer sisters, Al Jarreau, O'Jays and (unknown to me) ..Arthur Prysock. played. I was in my 30's then and he was probably in late 60's to 70. Despite the age and race difference this man exuded sex appeal, class and ohhh that smooooooth...... voice. A large crowd was there but you could have heard a pin drop. He captured the audience. I 'll never forget him. Thanks for the memories..

  • @marbarrow 08/13/10 AT ONE IN THE MORNING, I AM LISTENING TO ONE OF THE GREATEST VOICES THAT GOD EVER PLACED UPON THIS EARTH. I LISTEN TO ALL OF THESE YESTERDAY ANGELS, WHO COULD GRASP YOUR HEART WITH THEIR WONDERFUL INTERPRETATIONS OF A LOVE SONG. REST IN PEACE ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL SOULS AND SING FOR THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN. roselli

To my Marc I live to love you !

    Rebecca

  • its funny i prefer to hear this on grainy vinyl than a clan copy lol

  • Wow. No one even talks about Arthur Prysock anymore. INCREDIBLE voice. When I was a kid, I used to practice trying to sing like him and Nat King Cole. Never quite made it, of course, but it was a joy just listening to those old vinyl LPs with my mom and dad!

  • This is nothing short of AMAZING! Oh my goodness. Thank you for this post!!!!!

  • is there anything that ARTHUR PRYSOCK sings that could be bad. not in a million years. to anyone who appreciates a great lyric and interpretation of it, this is your MAN. HONEY

  • How Romantic. Lovely.

  • Wow..how have I missed out all these years?

  • this cat has a outstanding voice, close 2nd walter jackson.

  • Mr. Prysock became this cracker's favorite vocalist back in the '70's. Spent soulful nights listening to his LP's. In The Still of The Night is my favorite. Thank you Arthur for romance.

  • This is so lovely! People need to know more about him!

  • Beautiful.

  • This is real, mature singing.

My generation doesn't know what it's missing.:)

  • very nice version ,my favourite would be by JohnnyMathis ,but this is very acceptable, why did he not become big time?

  • He was big time--internationally known!

  • Prysock's voice was an ocean, deep as my moods, ...send in the clowns.....

  • Sooful Doo, Im glad there is you, more than ever,

  • underated treasures is right, Prysock was the gld strandard, Not knocking Sinatra...but he couldnt hold this man's mike.

  • @robertclemon

Well I will knock Sinatra. The most overated singer ever. There are four black singers that come to mind

that never got the recognition they deserved -Prosock being one of them and Joe Williams,Sammy Davis and others I can't recall. As one poster said "Sinatra couldn't hold a mic for Arthur Prysock. And BTW I am not black.

  • Makes me happy, thanks!!

  • mmm..this is so mellow//mr. prysock was an extraordinary soulful singer..this song really puts you in the mood to relax on the beach and watch the sunset, while sipping on an ice tea.....rip mr. prysock

  • Memories of what a great singer does. Creates mood, and musicality. I hope future generations will learn to love this music.

  • This is up there with the with the `Trane/Johnny Hartman version.Lovely

  • ahhhhh, gee, please another glass of wine, get me a cigar and put me closer to the window, so I can see the snow out there. Great voice

  • Thanks Goldenoldies101--

I love the contrast between the flute that dances throughout this arrangement and that rich barritone of Arthur Prysock. verve put out some really great albums in the 60's. Besides Arthur Prysock and Astrud Gilberto they also had quite a good jazz library.
