If you were to take King Kong out of the original 1933 film, and Godzilla out of the original 1954 film, Godzilla would likely win. If you're comparing the movies, it depends on which movie you're talking about. I should mention that King Kong was what influenced Ishiro Honda to create Godzilla (along with all of the bombings on Tokyo). However, usually you'll probably want a tissue box when watching a King Kong movie, and a tub of popcorn when watching a Godzilla movie.

I see Godzilla as the winner of this fight. He had Kong on the ground knocked out and was about to finish him when a freak lightning storm appeared which resurrected Kong and supercharged him which BARELY gave him enough strength to cause a draw, resulting with them both being hurled in to the ocean.
For me Godzilla height is 50 meters & King Kong is 30 meters. So therefor Godzilla have a huge advantage, also having the fire from it's mouth. King Kong don't look good in this epic battle cos of this, but Kong have alot of stamina,strengh & is extremely clever. King Kong reminds me of John Cena lol. Also, in America, Godzilla was not as popular as King Kong as King Kong was an American created monster and Godzilla was a Japanese created monster. Back then in 1962, the americans were still more or less discriminative towards the japanese because of what happened in the war and the americans felt it wouldn't be right to end the film on a draw as it was in the original japanese version. So they dubbed and edited it to make it look as if King Kong had won even though really he didn't.
If King Kong hadn't have been revived by that lightning thunderstorm, Godzilla would have destroyed him as Godzilla nearly did in this movie. Also, in the original Japanese version, it was a draw, as Godzilla can swim underwater for long periods of time whilst King Kong can't and became overwhelmed by this and decided to head back to his island. In the American dubbed version, the way it was edited and dubbed, made it look that King Kong had won even though really he didn't.

Its worth noting that this was originally meant to be frankenstein vs godzilla but after it didn't go thru they switched frankenstein with kong - that is why kong has electricity powers and is bigger - they didn't fix the script. xD

I love it how people are debating the physical attributes of two Japanese guys making use of a couple of rented out monkey and lizard suits as though they're real creatures. In the real world, a real lizard would feel like an ant if it bit a real, regular size ape. In other words: who gives a rat's ass? LOL. Enjoyable movie, though. I'm really just messing with you guys, but some of you are going a little far with reasoning certain things about this film.

There is a difference between the American Kong and this Kong. First of all, the American Kong was from Skull Island, while this Kong is from Faro Island, so them being different is not surprising. Noting this the fact that this Kong can fight toe to toe with Godzilla is not surprising. Maybe there are different species of Kong all throughout the world, albeit very few.

@SilverApe1428 True. But...Who inspired Toho to make their own version of King Kong? Poplularity. This film was suppose be called Godzilla vs Frankinstein. With that being said...still not King Kong. In King Kong escape's, the Jap Version of Kong is much smaller. Toho was pretty much inconsistant at time based upon height and ability. Not only this, making Godzilla shy away from electricity is also misleading and having Kong swim safely out the sea with no Godzilla. LOL

Also, in America, Godzilla was not as popular as King Kong as King Kong was an American created monster and Godzilla was a Japanese created monster. Back then in 1962, the americans were still more or less discriminative towards the japanese because of what happened in the war and the americans felt it wouldn't be right to end the film on a draw as it was in the original japanese version. So they dubbed and edited it to make it look as if King Kong had won even though really he didn't.

If King Kong hadn't have been revived by that lightning thunderstorm, Godzilla would have destroyed him as Godzilla nearly did in this movie. Also, in the original Japanese version, it was a draw, as Godzilla can swim underwater for long periods of time whilst King Kong can't and became overwhelmed by this and decided to head back to his island. In the American dubbed version, the way it was edited and dubbed, made it look that King Kong had won even though really he didn't.

In my opinion, the only reason that Toho made Kong win was because they wanted a monster that could beat Gojira (not that crappy zilla). They needed a "good-guy" monster, so they went with Kong.

Its worth noting that this was originally meant to be frankenstein vs godzilla but after it didn't go thru they switched frankenstein with kong - that is why kong has electricity powers and is bigger - they didn't fix the script. xD

@yummycupcake443 One other thing : Even if by some crazy chance kong did outwit godzilla, he would later succumb to radiation poisoning - its shown in the first godzilla film that godzilla leaves nuclear fallout and contaminates the water supply with radiation whereever he goes, kong would certainly get sick and die shortly after ; but honestly - i think godzilla would win since godzilla is like the size of the empire state building, kong took a few to climb said structure in his film. =P
