  • hy i hav a problem in my keyboarded tht is sometime it stops working BUT everythings works except for the keyboard so after hard restarting it works and again after a hour or so it stops again...

    PLEASE HELP!!

  • can someone send me a link to this part? i have this exact 17 inch mac. my "i" key came off and my dad put it back in but it kinda sticks. i would like to just replace the whole keyboard, and click pad. the click pad is broken. thanks!

  • @paintballlpplayer45 - You can get them at powerbookmedic (dot) com.

  • @PowerbookMedic i see. being where as i have this same model, could you be so kind as to send me a link to what i need?

  • @paintballlpplayer45 - I can't link to a product in the comments. However you can call us at 1-866-726-3342 and we'll be able to assist you further.

  • FYI. You called your flat head screw driver a phillips head twice. It's kind of mundane but still.

  • can you help me to find the store to buy the keybord please...

  • @CruzPablo12 - You can buy them from our website. Check out our channel or the video for the link.

  • Very Helpful

    Thank You

  • The music is too loud compared to your voice.

  • this is probably because youre a dimwit. though you do have to be pretty far along on the dimwit scale to be unable to even use a mac. Maybe its the lack of nonstop BSODs and obtuse confirmation boxes? Im sorry to be the first to tell you this, but those arent supposed to be a functional computing experience.

  • @hyomerif : If you can't see that the upsidedown text message I left was a JOKE, then I'd have to say that you are the dimwit lmao. Or maybe you're one of those who's looking for a comment war over 'mac vs pc', in which case all I can say is look elsewhere.

  • Just out of interest, how DID you leave an upside down text message?

  • type 'upside down text' in google

  • P.S.- I use a pc, not a mac. And no, I don't have any problems with it. And again, I'm not looking for a pc vs mac war.

  • sorry dood, upside down youtube comments have become this weeks leet speke for d-bags, I just assumed thats what you were doing. in fairness posting an "I hate mac" comment on a mac video is doing nothing but looking for a war, if you dont get that, somethings gone wrong. I guess if you dont do any hard core computing/networking and are ok with paying for decent software, pc is "ok". *relevant informatoin:* agreed, the music was too loud, but thanks for the show and tell on the keyboard

  • You may just need to replace the keyboard or top case. If everything else works, there is a good chance your logic board is fine.

  • btw em usng a macboo pro

  • my sster recentley splled some water on my eyboard and now my EYE button, CAY button and ZERO button do not wor... (try to fgure ths out please... should eye open up my computer and chec ef anythng else es water-damaged? ef so how? es et posseble to order a new eyboard on ebay or onlne and replace ths one? or es there another reason my buttons not wor related to the motherboard or somethng.

please reply, m not the ggreatest wth computers so get bac to me. thans.

  • he had a heard time putting it back

  • Not that I know of. The only way would be to remap.

  • Yes, you can replace a UK keyboard with a US one.

  • Is there a way to get a US MacOS X install to auto-detect that a US MBP is running a UK keyboard? (The function key shortcuts are different....tried a remap but some functions could not be remapped without a third-party app)

  • Can I replace a UK keyboard with a US keyboard? (place a US keybaord on a UK top case) Thanks.

  • If the keyboard stops functioning whether the result of user neglect or simple malfunction, you'll need to change the keyboard.

  • why the hell would you ever want to do that...

  • This totally helped me out. One thing I noticed, though, is that there are some slight variations in the way these systems are put together... for example, the keyboard ribbon didn't appear to be glued down in the one in the video -- mine was glued fast so it wouldn't have just slid out like this one did. Just an observation as I recently did some damage to my system using a YouTube video on changing a hard drive in which the video was, again, slightly different from the internals of my system.

  • Nice VIdeo. I think you meant to say flat head instead of Philips at a few places in the video? You can use annotations to fix this without having to rerecord, encode and upload all over again. (I've been there!!) Also would it make sense to record the locations of the tape as I'd forget where to put them on the new keyboard? Thanks again.

    JacanaProductions.

  • Did he say philip's head screwdriver a 0:52???

  • You would need to perform all the steps in reverse. The tape is reusable.

  • The first thing I'd try to fix this is to reinstall your OS. If that doesn't fix it, you likely have a defective keyboard and need to replace it.

  • Very informative...I suspect there's a companion piece on step by step replacement - or is it assumed that a bright viewer (perhaps not me!) will know to do just everything in reverse. If so, one concern I have is with those little bits of tpe that covered several screws. Do they work to just put 'em back? i.e. are they permanently sticky?

  • when i type it sometimes goes back automatically and erases whative written so i have to type very very slow, do you know why this may be happening

  • If your key doesn't respond, then there is nothing you can replace other than your keyboard. If the key is simply misaligned or broken, you can replace the keycap. Parts and instructions are available from our website.

  • yeh it doesnt respond, so does that mean i need a whole new keyboard replacement part.. if so how much are they? im from the uk... cheers

  • cool video man

my 'left arrow (home) button' on my keyboad has stpped working, nt sure if moisture has pssibly dripped inside that key... but it just doing work now.... is here anyway to fix just that one key without having to buy a completely new keyboard? if so how? and would it be possible to demonstrate it? ive tried to have a look but im not brave enough and couldnt remove the tp casing, i know theres the screws along the sides but it just wont seen to lift off :s would be greatful for help
