@nickhow100 I used a 1/4 wave whip calculator and made 2 1/4 wave whips and put them either end to make a 1/2 wave PMR dipole. Each leg, according to the calculator is:
@thazlett144 That about 10kms from me, I've not been able to get much more than 1km on mine unless it's direct LOS and my radios are 4w with 23cm antennas.
I can hear the Amersham 70cm repeater GB3AU quite well though, I could do with some advice for a base station antenna as I soldered in an SMA connecter.
Thanks, I found the di-pole on thunderpole while buying my Intek PMR's, I'll cut it to length using the chart but have no way to check the SWR on 70cms.
In your vid you say you made it to Oxford, is that at 50mw? what's your location?
How did you make it.. what parts and where did you get them from.. how did you tune it.. do some scanning with it on your PMR.. that would have been more interesting video but still good.
@MyssTVXR8 I got a "Super Dipole" from Thunderpole. Took the original dipole legs off which had 3/8 threads on each end. I purchased 2X 3/8 bases from Truck King so you can make your own whips with them. I just cut up an old whip from a broken Modulator CB antenna and it was done. SWR about 1.3 on 1 and 1.4 on 8
whats the length of each ELEMENT

I'm just outside High Wycombe so maybe a QSO on the PMR band would be possible!

@MyssTVXR8 used 2W on a 70CM Ham Radio that does 400 - 470mhz. My location is just outside of Aylesbury. Inbetween Aylesbury and Leighton Buzzard
