Hi Hidetchi, I'm playing this saginomiya against my girlfriend, but she doesn't move with her gold to 5b, instead plays silver 4c early, then rook 3b, and when I attack, she can move away with the bishop, and I remember you saying that in this case saginomiya is not working. Is this true? Could you, or anyone tell me how to punish her for this? Or am I missing something? I like your channel and I'm waiting for your new videos soo much. Thank you and greetings from Hungary!
I happend to notice that, at the begining of the Japanese version of this video, your summary table had two extra rows. What is the correct way to play in those cases?
today, is standard saganomiya played very much professionally? I mean that with the threat of L-1b, after moving the gold is isn't it kind of bad when your playing an experienced player?
No, all rapid attack strategies against 4th-file rook defense are not played these days, because slow game strategies like static rook anaguma are now thought to be better against 4th-file rook.
And moreover, even normal 4th-file rook is not played these days, because it can win easily against static rook anagumra.
But anyway, jousekis of rapid attack is the basics of shogi openings, so we have to learn them anyway.
Professional players havn't been playing ordinary 4th-file rook very often in the last couple of years, because static rook's anaguma strategy is pretty good against it.
But it's only the case with professional games. In amateur level, 4th-file rook is still popular. If you go for static rook anaguma against a better player than you, he'll easily destroy your anaguma with Fujii system. And of course, rapid attacks can also be dealt with properly by 4th file rook.
i also learned quite a lot from this series, and second the motion for something on the bishop exchange (using that spreadsheet idea with the bishop exchange should be very helpful)
I think that summary made with excel was an excellent idea. I think I'll use that same idea when analysing chess openings too. And thanks for the great video series on Saginomiya. I've learn a whole lot of new tricks on Shogi-attacks with a silver.

Those two cases are rare.
But white's lance is still there, so it's easier.
You can use the same strategy as where the lance has already moved.

Oh, so the concept of rapid attack is a basic theory that we have to learn to understand slower strategy?

Yeah, kind of.
And if you're going to play 4th-file rook, you have to know how to deal with static rook's rapid attack.

Does it mean that 4th-file rook isn't a good way to play ranging rook anymore?
