  • I love how at 1:20 it shifts that strap or pipe or something on the far right.

  • seems like more power could be measured if more cooling was provided. As far as i can tell that one relatively small fan would not provide the airflow that traveling at 150 mph would provide.

  • @ead1017 The fans are there for cooling the car during the dyno run. The car temp stayed at normal during and after the run. You don't need more fans than that, and more fans would not make more horsepower.

  • @MachVDan And there is where your wrong. Cooler air = more oxygen = more hp.

  • @pino110008 To a point. This being most true if it's cooler air being fed into the intake. Cool air hitting the engine and radiator will only benefit the engine if it's fully warmed up to the point that the thermostat has opened up and the fluid in the block, and radiator is so hot that the thermostat will not close even if the temps of the fluid drop 10* or more.

    Similar airflow to what would be generated at wheel speed would give more accurate results. In most cases as water temp rises the ecu will retard timing and reduce HP,while water temp may stay consistant on the dash the sampling rates could be much faster for the fuel/timing and it may take into account the massive rush of heat generated on a dyno pull.

    Its funny you say that because Mercedes uses a similar spoiler on their DTM CLK models.

    I say similar because it has that symbol on the side which gives me the impression that its aftermarket and not stock.

  • Looking at the screen after the dyno run shows rear wheel horsepower...this car puts out approx. 500 hp at the crank. Nice run.

  • @MondoBongoz It's simply a way of measuring the horsepower and torque the car puts out.  Usually we use it to figure out how much power we have added by modifying the car. That is, we'll do a dyno run before and after changing something. Some people just want to know how much power their car makes, modified or not.

  • @Shicomm This measurement is AT THE WHEELS, not at the engine. A chassis dyno will read a lower number than an engine dyno.

    The rear spoiler is different...and I think the arches are not as flared

  • This is one hell of a machine. I love it in black with tinted tail light. The spoiler and roll cage give it that real race effect even though it is most probably a full on race car.

  • I'm not sure why you find that funny, but many (most?) current Mercedes models will NOT run correctly on the dyno unless you convince them to be in a special "rig test" mode where traction control and other electronic nannies are completely disabled.
