  • i remember my mom and dad hiding the cassette of this in the car, i was 8 and in love with her voice!

  • what a beautiful, talented woman, i was a child when poetry man came out, i was 13, when i first heard her sing i was totally captivated. i went on to be a musician and vocalist myself , it was music like this that inspired me to learn and train my voice, i would listen carefully to every little nuance in her voice. her legacy to me is the gift of music, for which i will be forever greatful. she will be sadly missed but never forgotten, my heart goe's out to her friend's and family.

  • Ms. Snow may she RIP...luv the voice and her unique style..

  • music was meant to touch off something magic in our time in the life, todays musicians have no clue about what fabric real music is made of.

  • Back when there was music..

  • Phoebe Snow - Poetry Man: this is a geniune soul music composition performed by Phoebe

that unknowingly to her probably wasn't aware how much her music compositions left sweet impressions in Fans & listeners minds worldly. Her song lyrics are poems of purity and important significance to what she was sharing about herself. Much life experiences for one individual to bare on ones shoulders. Beautiful person, lady & music artist. Forever a Fan &, Happy New Year in Heaven .. Phoebee. Trinkett

  • OMG! I'm just devastated, I just read Noteable Deaths in 2011 and came upon Phoebe and just about fell off my chair. I loved me some Phoebe Snow. I feel like who's left for me? Barry White is gone, the Lavert boys, Luther, Heavy D,Issac,. I never would have thought about Michael Jackson dying. I'm really devastated. Is it just me who is feeling like there is not much left here. All that provided comfort and was familiar is being taken away. Death is a fact of life we must accept. RIP Phoebe.

  • Almost looks like jill Scott a little and I'm not trying to be funny she is beautiful, she should cover this song

  • can't believe she's not black. all this time everyone thought she was black. She must be mixed with black and doesn't know it. Her features suggest it.

  • @goddessnoire Quadroon possibly?

  • I have no words to express my deep sadness that Phoebe will write no more poetry.

This world is a lesser place now she's gone. She was an Angel among us.

  • Phoebe Snow- RIP. Didn't know she passed away until now. I haven't heard this song in ages.

  • Saw her several times in San Francisco.....looking back now I want to thank Linda for giving me a tape of Phobe especially this song ..I only wish that we could have still been together but thank you for getting to still spend time with you and for being "Your Poetry Man" and May God Bless you Phobe I will one day see you again.

  • Damn I like this song. I was singing this song as a kid working in a grocery store.

  • She's my poetry girl :)

  • Shocked and deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She is my idol, she will NOT be forgotten.

  • When she sings this, I get chills all over my body! She was so amazing! :)

  • Takes my breath away each and every time.

  • Real, real, nice job; u did wonderful with this song. I love the words u say.

  • @TRACEYMALLARD - SURE DOES TAKE ME BACK TO THE SEVENTIES A GOLDEN SPACE IN TIME U REMEMBER THINGS WERE MUCH BETTER IN THOSE DAYS WHEN RADIO STATIONS PLAYED SONGS LIKE THIS ALL DAY - THE GARBAGE MUSIC OF TODAY ESPECIALLY THE WHOLE HIPHOP INDUSTRY WOULD NEVER HAVE MADE IT BACK THEN ...

  • Faaaaantaaaasticccccc! Such a voice control! Oooooooo!

  • Not that it means anything one way or the other but was Phobe Snow at least partially African-American? She looks like she could be. She was a an attractive but heavy lady.

  • Phoebe, I always loved your voice. Tonight I found out Julie is your sister. RIP, but she's a better woman than you were. Just saying...

  • if this song doesnt take you back to the seventies perhaps you werent THERE....its so beautiful.

  • What a wonderful talent she was...Awesome live too.

  • A beautiful voice...my mother loved listening to her when i was a child.

  • I just read she past. As a child her song inspired me and anytime she was on tv. I was glued. RIP She was very sick she is resting in i God arms.

  • I am saddened to hear Phoebe passed away. Great song and a wonderful singer-songwriter.

  • Beautiful song and voice. RIP.

  • Need some help. I have a 20-25 second clip of Phoebe, Linda Ronstadt and some else singing a song I think is called Travelling Wedding Band. They performed it on Saturday Night Live decades ago. What is the actual name of the song? Is it on Youtube? Thanks.

  • WHY!! WHY!! HAVE THEY TAKEN HER SONG OF YOUTUBE?? "LET SOMEONE TOUCH YOUR SOUL" PLEASE PUT IT BACK!!

  • Beautiful song...one of the all time classics of that genre of music. God rest her soul.

  • Still love you Phoebe!!!!!

  • Miss Phoebe, what can I say. A sound that I don't think will ever be heard again. Her music still pleases me and pleasantly haunts the very depth of my soul. I still remember so many wonderful evenings listening to her beautiful music as a child. She lives on in my memories of glorious sound and in my heart.

  • How could anyone write a more timely and timeless tome... Kudos Phoebe, I shall remain forever in tour dept...

  • OMG. I did not know Phoebe Snow passed away. Wow. I love her music. A very special man introduced me to her music years ago. This music means a lot to me.

  • what a unique way of singing, she was special. RIP Mama.

  • a female slim whitman

  • great voice for the ages male or female

  • The one thing I truly repect about her was that she played guitar. African-American women in The Music Industry don't do that. I wish, from African-America, there were female versions of Chuck Berry, Jimi Hendrix, George Benson, and Prince. These music execs are so sexist, it sickens me. Oh well. Nice tune, by the way.

  • Love U Phoebe ... Everytime I hear this I get goose bumps listening to Poetry Man miss U ... but i am sure we will meet again in my fathers house!

  • Thank you for posting , you made my day EM

  • Phoebe ,Phoebe , Just a wisper . I miss you .

  • This isn't even her best work. The album It Looks Like Snow is just brilliant song afer brilliant song. She was a one of a kind. A genius who spent what should have been the most productive years of her life semi retired taking care of her multi handicapped daughter Valerie. Genius and integrity is such a rare combination.

  • Andre the giant has a better voice than I gave him credit for.

  • Tha world lost a wonderful person and voice. We all miss her !!

  • beautiful it dont get no better than this. rest in peace phoebe.

  • This video was just added to a music playlist at JustPlay.fm

  • kudos to the guitarist .....very tasty!

  • Thank You Ms Phoebe Snow for showin' me a "softer side" of my mother!!! This song is one of my mother's favorites. All I ask, is that you sang this song to her, in person, when you arrived to heaven...........

  • One song one song that's all it takes to bring you back, great talent RIP.

  • @mustang73ism let me join you in saluting a true STAR. may she RIP.

  • wonderful~

  • The poetry man is her professor at school. Phoebe - what most of us wouldn;t give for a voice like yours. RIP.

  • Totally classy chick and is it not just typical that the good die far to young

  • Pheobe Snow was far beyond the music industry today. There is just no talent in the music industry today. Pheobe was the ultimate talent and dedication to true music.

  • wow lol idk how i got her but, this is really good

  • you bashful boy, you're hidding something sweet

  • Phoebe Don't Leave Us ........

  • Yeah... that girl can sing.

  • Brings great great memories of the soulful 70s.buetiful.

  • I think this giant talent went largely unnoticed at the time of her death. What a shame. Maybe it's because her condition was unreported for so long, therefore, it wasn't considered newsworthy. A TRUE, UNIQUE TALENT. A fantastic voice. No matter what she left a pleasant mark on society. Instead of home healthcare for her daughter she did the right thing and turned a deaf ear to what would have been her highest income earning years. Phobe Snow..........you will be missed.

  • @pichicago I couldnt agree with you more...This was a fantastic, creative , special and unique individual..this song is so hautingly beautiful and her falsetto voice falls in place so effortlessly..she will be missed..aloha Jim Holland

  • I found out who she was THIS year after watching TV 411! lol

  • I met her when I was 21 in the Virgin Islands. I got to Play her guitar that said her name on the fret board. She was a very sincere person.

  • I can not believe that Phoebe is gone and I am just now finding out. I was a little girl listening to Phoebe every day. My mother introduced me to some wonderful music as a child and Phoebe will always be in my heart. They just don't make music like this anymore!! I will continue to listen to her music and make sure to introduce it to my children and their children. RIP Phoebe Snow...you will never be forgotten.

  • @fbueltable I didn't know Pheobe Snow has passed(R.I.P.)/ This song is as beautiful as the 1st time I heard it. She's singing with little to no effort & that's pure raw talent. Nothing compares to classic music.

  • i met her at the air port one day back in 89' .. i was working there at the time. sweet woman. Rip.

  • Life is short, so please enjoy it folks. ;)

  • Love her guitar playing, it totally augments her sweet vocals and wonderful lyrics.

  • I saw Ryan Cole's video on youtube "My Suicide" and loved it so much that I bought his album on amazon. I'm just in love with it now. Great poetry.

  • WHEN DID PHOEBE SNOW PASS?

  • A forgotten classic from a classic talent,

  • OUTSTANDING

  • omg, I didnt know she passed!!! :(((

  • Phoebe, we need you here to offset the wrongs we hear in music today. Your beautiful voice and presence is sorely missed. Music today has done your legacy a grave injustice. We love you....Rest in peace

  • o que? 8 compassos de vibrato? thanxs from brazil! valeu!!!

  • "Baden-Baden" is definitly not german for "mud-bath" - "Schlammbad" is. But other than that: I think you're right: actually there are hardly any musicians in this caliber nowerdays.

  • My gawd. That voice and that passion behind it.

  • great song writing skills. this is my first time hearing this song..

  • Love love love Phoebe!

My vote for the most under appreciated talent in popular music, 1975 to the present.........

  • A memorable song and a great performer, who will be missed!

  • Baden-Baden is where my family is from. It's German for mud-bath. Very few in this caliber. Where did all the talent and writers go? RIP, Queen of Blues.

  • When I was in diapers I was captured by her unique and beautiful 4 octive voice. And when I was old enough to put her white cover album of her face on the record player and hear it on my dads marantz 2230 receiver and bose 501 speakers she would sound like she was there. I'd notice all her commercial work too. The GE commercials "GE, we bring good things to life." and "Celebrate the moments of our lives." Makes me feel good all over every time I hear her and I know it's her every time. I'm 33

  • Oh my goodness, I love this song! And where is my girl these days? I used to think I was crazy loving this kind of music, and then realized, I just had good taste! thanks for the post!

  • In Blessed Memory of Phoebe Snow. Her birthday would have been July 17.

    groovinwalrus

  • Rest in peace Phoebe....God is your giding light now....May God bless you, you brought nothing but Love with your music....You will be missed by so many people...know that you were truly blessed by your Angelic voice...Karen

  • Chills....still I get the chills after listening to her hauntingly beautiful guitar melody. Her voice pierces my very soul. This song will never stop moving me.

  • God Bless, enjoy her music, takes me back to the learning years, thanks Phoebe we will always have your music!

  • Rest easy Phoebe Snow.

  • RIP Ms. Snow.

  • i luv this woman!!!

  • Thank You God for our journey with Mrs. Snow.

  • You were the best...when it comes to delivering a song...Thank you Phoebe for all the lovely music that felt like topping over the sweetest melody!

I hope that the angels greeted you with smooth song and soulfulness!

    your fan...Kathy Bee

  • Always in a class of your own Phoebe. Absolutely beautiful voice.

  • If she were alive today I would see every Phoebe Snow concert I could. Gone too soon!

  • D: She passed away? I can't believe it she was only 60. Im so sorry to hear that, bless her soul. May she rest in peace. :'(

  • I want to know who the poetry man is!!

  • "Donhonki" "First ever crown court banned uk rap-poet" (2009-2014) #SuperInjunction

  • Descansa en paz phoebe, gracias por tu bella voz y las canciones tan hermosas ! Hasta la vista chica !!

  • Is the "Poetry Man" Bob Dylan??????

  • <3 <3 <3

  • I'm so sad...R.I.P.

  • A great song dedicated to StarGuide. The Forty Year limit is approaching. Wednesday, 13 October 1971 (7,6,and 3 ) - Thursday, 13 October 2011. Whatever Happens Will Happen !!!

  • I did not like this song when it came out in the 70's but this changed my opinion and is fabulous. I can only describe her voice and the music as soothing and textural.

  • @deebin4 Practice acceptance, tolerance, and coexistence. I was a nine year old child and it took me time to understand since I was not good at poetry, so as a teenager I rebelled on poetry and too many to write for the wrong reasons. I began to appreciate this songs just a few years ago. I began a quest to try to make peace of my past missteps and buying song, a part of a compilation, was part of that goal.

  • @airforcemax keep writing...you will grow artists veins!

  • you always touched me Phoebe

  • ya make me a laugh..

  • Sooo beautiful. I love u Phoebe, u are a huge inspiration for my music & life. xxxx

  • I don't think I will ever tire of her. What an amazing singer. I think I got to see her in the 1970's. There are a few concerts that I went to that seemed to have escaped my brain - another burp.

  • To the 29 dingalings that do not like this PLEASE, pretty please keep your ignorance to yourself. And spare the rest of us that actually have functioning ears. PRESHATECHA!

  • I am going to miss Phoebe. It seems that we're losing the best. I just found out that my favorite comedian Mike Destefano from Last Comic Standing has died too.

    :-(

  • BTW this was part of a live show of "Ohne Filter", a German TV production and it was recorded in Baden-Baden, where the TV/Radio station is located.

    RIP Phoebe

  • I miss her!

  • This is splendid...if you get to view the clip of Maria Muldaur on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert performing "Midnight AtThe Oasis"--you'll enjoy that, too...but not as much as this one!!

  • Thumbs up if Rolling Stone brought you here

  • where was this filmed? this is proof that acoustic guitar-dominated music does not have to be simple-sounding and unpolished. too bad the endless "unplugged" music of the 1990s sounded so terrible. this song passed the test of time.

  • I just learned this great artist has left us with her great voice. This song brings back so many memories of young forbidden love. I played this song until it had bacon sound! Wish I could get this version. RIP Phoebe

  • I don't want the recorded version, I want this live version on my iPod, I love this so much.

  • RIP Hope you up there jumping "all over" God's yard

  • She toured with the Rock & Soul revue (Steely Dan) and I fell through myself when I heard the opening bars to this song. Miss her like a friend. :(

  • R.I.P. You brought beauty to this world and you will be missed.

  • who are the back up musicians on this song...pretty good!

  • RIP Phoebe

  • beautiful!

  • RIP Phoebe Snow. Your voice was like heaven. You will be greatly missed.

  • We lost this fabulous and rich sounding voice last month. What a wonderful gift she left us. RIP Phoebe, I was always in awe of your voice, and creative beauty.

  • @1BigCREE1Redtail Reminds me of the nights with the top 40 radio on until I was long asleep. But I'd be awake listening for as long as I could. Thanks for sharing this.

  • @ISamuelII She was TOPS! Smooth and so so soothing.

  • @1BigCREE1Redtail I haven't heard her for a long time. I find her voice relaxing and enjoyable.

  • @TwistedZionism I LOVE her voice. Always did.

  • I agree with you, JimJazzinSandiego, Phoebe had a wonderful sense of humor.

She was one of three musicians that I would have paid just to hear them talk.

Chet Atkins and Leo Kottke are the other two.

  • R.I.P Phoebe u were loved and u will live on through ur great music

  • Someone needs to upload the song right ofter this one. IF I CAN JUST GET THROUGH THE NIGHT. ...Her performance of that song will make you stand up and say, "I can't believe this!!!!!!" thanks Phoebster! You are making Heaven a happening!!!!!!

  • I started listening to Phoebe when I was 16 , wow her voice is that of an angel RIP!

  • A Beautiful Life Force And Devout Nichrien Shoshu Buddhist. Pheobe You Will Be Missed.<3

  • we have your music to remember you. Rest well. See you again. thanks for the magic.

  • Thank you for lending your voice to the world! RIP!

  • What a wonderful song... Never heard about her before. RIP

  • I bought this album the first year it was out, 1975 I think. She only put out a few. Her baby girl needed her more. I'm having a very hard time with her death. God Bless you Phoebe, the way you blessed us all with your wonderful voice.

  • you make me laugh

  • Just beautiful...She will always be L0vEd for her self and legendary musicianship and music.

  • I had never heard of Phoebe Snow but when she died, Howard Stern spoke of her extensively. I did some research and it seems that she was a very, very special person. This is the first time I have ever heard her sing as well. There is a new angel in heaven with a spectacular voice. Rest easy Phoebe.

  • @RLKAYE1967 Same here, Howard turned me on to her, man what a voice she had jesus. When he played a clip of her the other day, i swore she was a black woman, what a voice..

  • What a kind and compassionate woman. Too early you left us, Phoebe. We love you! Always!

  • THANK YOU PHOEBE !!!

  • Just found out about Ms. Snow's passing . . . it had an impact. Beside this poignant song, she should be remembered also for how she cared for her sickly daughter for 31 years when others recommended the child should institutionalized. A great singer . . . but more importantly . . . a great mother. Deepest condolences to her sister and uncle.

  • man there must be some beautiful sounds up there in heaven...rest easy dear Phoebe

  • Talk to me some more you don't have to go . . . So sad and beautiful R.I.P. Phoebe Snow

  • O My Dearest Pheobe, Such a classy artist...You may now join your daughter in love and peace....

  • I love that she told jokes in concerts! She really was funny and a lovely person. I saw her about 10 times since 1977. I converted many a friend to Phoebe. I think the very fact that she disappointed her record companies in favor of her daughter makes her a hero in my eyes.

  • @JimJazzinSanDiego I saw Poebe et the Santa Monica Civic in Ca. She opened for Roberta Flack, and she was just wonderful! She spoke of the great love she had for her little girl. It wasn't until she died that I learned her little was brain damaged and died in 2007. Phoebe was one of a kind.

  • @Cyberella1000 THAT is one concert I would have loved. I love Roberta Flack too.

  • I can't believe that ethereal voice or clever brain has been stilled. Life is short but this happened way too soon.

  • @dilleysb Very well stated Luv, very well stated. I too, share the same sentiments.

  • I can't believe that ethereal voice has been stilled.

  • Rest in peace. I am sorry that I never heard your soul before. You were wonderful.

I will forever listen now though.

  • Rest in Peace. I'm sorry I never listened to ur soul before today. I will always listen now.

  • R.I.P you wonderful poet!

  • You will be missed. Yor heart and sprit! thank you

  • this beautiful voice will be singing in heaven.

  • This woman was as real as it got! What a space she has left. RIP Phoebe.

  • I had to listen to this beautiful song by a very beautiful woman inside and out... a treasure. She has a voice that touches my soul directly. RIP Ms. Pheobe Snow!

  • How can a song be foul and beautiful at the same time. . . she made it so. The mark of a true artist. R.I.P. Phoebe Snow!

  • My heart is breaking..... one of the rarest gifts - she will be missed...

  • I have a request to jassblue - could you edit this more and put more popups with Phoebe's name in it, that way we won't forget who this is singing.

Maybe some network tv animation at the bottom... - thanks
