I'm an architecture student at Marywood university and I'm a Mixtec Indio "people of he rain place" of Oaxaca Mexico. No I don't consider or want to be looked at as a 'Latino or Hispanic ' I will always identify myself with the indigenous group because even within our country my people get discriminated. I'm native all the way.
How can you grow up not knowing who you are? That makes no sense at all. I guess she meant that she didn't knew her biological ancestry but that is not the same as knowing who you are.
take a word of advice from the muslims, mormons, chinese, indians(dot) and my people the mexicans not to distant relatives of your people. if native americans remain in such tiny numbers they will always be a marginalized minority.
Breed like rabits as many kids as you can have, grow a sufficient voting pool, to be able to elect some people into power.
Natives are evolving. . . very few chose to evolve out of fear. Change is scary but it means a better life for a group of us who socialize. Protect but dont discriminate yourself our of fear. Glad to know a fellow native can find this influencial'.

Hi beckandbailey, very cool video. Is this yours? I am going to send this link to an American Indian scholar who specializes in native people and media. I think he will want to contact whomever put this together. My email is: ricardokearns@gmail.com
i'm native american and people think im from south america or mixed with black and there is nothing wrong because all mixtures are beautiful but dont give me stares and comments because i dont look like pocahontas or fit the stereotype that i must speak proper and have long black silky hair or my nose isnt the correct way...just a little experience of what i have faced, anyways everyone take care and hold your heads up high!!
@chynacrawford07 well i know here its what your dad is but if your grandfather is half... you'd be considered half where I am but if you have more than a 4th you can be considered native...I have no idea what state you live in but you can pass for native..
@chynacrawford07 ooo really?? well there is a branch of the ottawa tribe there...they live in hollister,N.C. then of course the eastern band of Cherokee, im sure you can trace it back, but i know cherokee is willing to help you they have a lot of resources available or isf you have anyone who knows more about your grandmother and her parents you should probably ask them..they can probably pinpoint you in the right direction of what tribe your ancestors most liklely descended from. Best of luck
@ThunderIzking Natives show a lot by being drunk in public.i'm not hating or anything but,it's true their are a lot of other kinds of people that are drunk in public
