  • HOW does he do this voice??!?!?!

This takes me back 20 years....

Also try Alestorm- similar band, playing England NOW!!

  • @thejammiedodger07 It's more than likely an effect added during mixing.

  • @thejammiedodger07 No not Alestorm!. Seriously!

  • @PennyDreadful1

What's wrong? It's all silly fun!

  • @thejammiedodger07 Well with Skyclad that silly fun is measured up with a sharp intellect. Alestorm is to Power metal for me too. No dynamics. With Skyclad its real riffs and groovy basslines and not just power strumming and keyboards.

    Also lyrics.

  • Thought I'd give folk metal a try, so I came across this. Damn this is awesome.

  • Seriously one of the best songs i ever heard and its from my favorite folk metal band ever! Skyclad rulez!

  • Love Martin's Lyrics... the man is a genius!!! I have always thought as 'wayward sons' almost as a dreamweaver part 2.

  • Martin Walkyier is an amazing singer.

  • This album, and folk metal as a whole, turns 20 in a few weeks!

  • great remembrance to this: year 1992 in halle/saale (germany) - skyclad played as support for manowar. the aufience is fullfilled and one fan rushed to the stage where martin walkyier and skayclad play this song: the fan is grunting "Sabbat! Sabbat!", bowling people with his body. martin is waving about with his sword.

  • Love the thrashy sound of this song!

  • These guys are really awesome. Every song I've heard from them sounds unique.

  • @CodyRicheson That was my reaction when I first got into them.

Pretty much opened my eyes for out of mainstream rock and metal.

  • Awsome memories of this groupe.....saw em live in Cardiff but can't quit remember the year ....what a bloody gig that was!!!!!! and yes Martin and the band had beers with the fans at the end of the concert .....his jacket was stolen at that gig and i wonder if he ever got it back?

Cheers for the post ...even though i have the album somewhere( on cassette)

  • I believe that what in fact the success it is the singer

  • @gojiraotep i saw them in ( i think 1998) zwolle (netherlands)

it was one of my first concerts but still one of my greatest.

    walkyer rules!!!!

  • the lyrics is so real, best band ever

  • Comment removed

  • Martin wrote the best lyrics ever !!!

  • This is cool as fuck

  • nice song, i can sense the thrashy elements

  • @luisvaz92 No surprise there as Martin came from a English thrash band Sabbat who was also signed on Noise International.

  • @TheGoldenPS1 Here are also Steve Ramsey, Graeme English from Pariah another awesome thrash metal band!

  • @luisvaz92 Steve Ramsey and Graeme English were also from the NWOBHM band Satan, which are top-notch.

  • @HelloHalo117 Yeah, a NWOBHM legend.

  • quality band

  • Fucking brillo pads...let it rip...yeeehaaaa

  • is that a fiddle? whatever. when that killed it i was like holy shit sweet

  • Truly a classic!

  • And his voice makes me shiver too :) Awesome all the way~

  • Ah this song gives me the shivers....... x3

  • This album is special, to say the least.

  • wo, this songs shit.

  • I like metal but this is way too random and weird.

    D-

  • Martin, simply the best....

  • that's some thrashy folk, dude.

  • "very little more than the sky for a blanket and the earth for my bed...".I fuckin love Martin Walkyer's words

  • @BiorythmicDrifter Agreed, definitely my favourite lyricist by far.

  • @BiorythmicDrifter Hes the closest that I will ever some In political convictions. Damn, he should be made President.

  • @Violientrevolution He reminds me to always look at things from an outside perspective. Dont get carried away in a mob mentality. Be your own man. And be wise.

  • skyclad has many fine albums, but this is still my favorite... from way back when they still had some thrash in their veins... great music.

  • from 1:12 till end its something really new for metal and im sad that its unexplored

  • This song is fucking brilliant! I saw Skyclad just after this album was released - brings back a lot of good memories!

  • The guitar is the intro to Cannon.

  • In the words of Martin: "CHARGE!"

  • seen them play in Dublin - in the sound garden, i think around '94. Had a bite to eat & a few drinks with Martin & a few other band members before the gig. I remember Martin being a gent and a good laugh. Was one of the last gigs i can remember where the promoters allowed stagediving... u could'nt beat it with a stick...

  • Sadly I'm only 16...would have loved to see Skyclad back in their prime.

  • @HelloHalo117 you would have- they were amazing at the marquee x

  • @leontrotsky108 RE;" last gigs i can rem....allowed stagediving." O.K., so it isn't just the U.S. with this pussy kill-joy shit. Can't stage dive, can barely find a diving board, places for horse-back riding and/or snow-mobiling or no-more or charge a ridicules amonts of $. All this due o law suits. Glad I was young when I was young. Now I get my adrenilin rush from white-water kayaking, droppin 25ft.Hope the powers-2-b dont pull the plug. hope i catch this band when/if they hit the US.

  • have to agree with leganewu 's comment..

first five albums are among the jewels of my record collection

  • uhhhh cool

  • Primordial actually seems probably influenced by this... and a lot.

  • Yeah could be....

  • just dusted of my old cassette there,

cradle will fall is some monster of a tune :L

  • Why?

  • I got to hear the demo of this before it was released. Totally blew me away. Cheers for uploading it. I had the same problem as kopilit, thank fuck for CD's!!!!

  • Thanks for uploading this. I've looked for it for 10 years since my original tape got chewed.

Just as good as I remember.

  • what a great song, most underestimated band in the world. but...since Martin left they became a real folk band

good to have this on tube

    thanks

  • I haven't listened to anything without Martin in it that they've done. Martin is pretty much my favourite vocalist, Sabbat being my favourite band, can't hate on him =P.

  • Hallo HelloHalo117. You shouldn't listen to the "new" stuff w/o Martin if you don't want to be disappointed. It's the most folky thing that I've ever heard from U.K. except Runrig

    keep it heavy dude

  • Well folk is nice.

Its really not much more folkier than the late Martin Walkyrier era.

  • I know how you feel mate, STANDING ON A STRANGE SHORE, THIS DESOLATE COASTLINE!

  • IT OFFERS COLD COMFORT!

I honestly haven't listened to that album in a long while, thanks for reminding me to.
