@thefierce123 Well I was under the impression that 21 and 23 were support regiments made up of recruits who were highly capable full-time members of the Army, who had passed some kind of special forces test but weren't of a high enough calibre to get into 22 SAS. Thought they provided specialist training in climbing, skydiving, driving (Stig was an ex member and instructor etc) but were only called upon for combat as a last resort. Correct me if I'm wrong, please.
@LondonPride25 21 and 23 are Territorial Army, part time and undertake the same training as a 22 SAS soldier, but over a longer period. But as it's such a big commitment it might as well be full time!
He wasn't in the Territorial Army he was was in the Territorial SAS, which is something else entirely. 21 and 23 SAS are Special Forces Support Groups which provide cover and depth to 22 SAS (the "real" SAS, i.e. Operations). Grylls was in 21 SAS and acted as a climbing and survival expert and trainer for 22 SAS troopers. Getting into 21 or 23 is not as hard as passing selction for 22 but you still have to pass UKSF selection, which is fucking hard. It's not the TA by any means.

The Territorial Army is part time for civilians. You have to be full time in the Army to even qualify for selection for 21 or 23 SAS.

@galderon90 The point I'm making is that on his Show, He shows You how to survive jumping out of a plane, landing in a lake and eating random shit. When in real life, the chances of an average person falling out of a plane,deploying a chute and landing safely in a lake are IMMENSLY slim! The chances rescue are higher!
Also, on 'courage' thing, I've never randomly woken up on an island an needed to get away, so I don't know how I'd react.
...Probably like Ray Mears Though.
